I can confirm VorticeOne's comments, I shot the video. 1993 from memory - I'd have to check my log book for the date. I also have the majority of the 2 hours prior as well, which included a flight of Singaporean A4 Skyhawks prior to the F1-11s.

most definitely Evans Head, used to service the range there back in the early to mid 90s so know it quite well. Have sat on the top of master quad a few times as the pigs would fly through the valley and we looked down on them. Good Shit!

It seems, there's great of deal of "know all, know nothings" making comment of this incident. It's actually at Evan's Head Range, and the 2 RAAF pilots were binned after it, as they ignored the "wave off" by the OIC of the AWR. The video was done by a Westpac helo crew, who also shit themselves when the runs by the 2 PIG's had dislodged the inspection cowelling on their helo. The roof was actually lifted by the shockwave. Yes, I was there indeed. So gents, lets cut the bullshit..

the pilot who was flying was an Air Exchange Student from the Canadian airforce. He was sent home after this stunt. It is a breach of airforce policy to break the sound barrier over civilian houses. Aircraft are only permitted to break the sound barrier over the water or far inland such as Ayres Rock/ Northern Territory.

@DeeJaySulphur There was no Canadian pilot flying either F111 involved in this incident. 2 Australian pilots were actually binned over this, for causing hundreds of thousand's of dollars damage to the Range Control building at Evans Head.. I should know, I was there....

The sad thing was just how much better the cancelled BAC TSR 2 was than the F111. They made a lot of design mistakes on the US plane, aerodynamic errors that made it slower than it should have been. The BAC team new it when they saw the F111.

the second jet looks like it was faster than the first...my guess is he's at 600 mph. i worked on aardvarks for 4 years but never got to see one fly in sweep wing config--but the crew chiefs let me sweep the wings back on the ground once, haha! wish someone could produce some of this footage in high definition.

Was at Evans head in NSW at the bombing range tower so they knew he was coming in after a bombing run. Pilot got in trouble but was worth it wasnt it lol
