What is Ethics?

Thus Ethics does NOT necessarily deal with Morality or Morals. Ethics in other words is a group or set of rules bunch of humans agree on. This is why you have different sets of ethics: business ethics, legal ethics, computer ethics, medical ethics, etc. These types of ethics refer only to the members of the specified group. I am not a medical doctor so the medical ethics do not apply to me; I am not responsible for them. Normative Ethics specifically deals in morality though. It applies to all.

What is Ethics..

Well to start you have to go with the 3 main brances of Ethics, Normative, Applied, and Descriptive; all forms of ethics fall under these 3 main catagories. Then we go into the different concepts such as Virtue ethics, Moral realism, Deontology, and Consequentialism. etc..

@MelonNun What is this thing called "applied ethics"? I was taught the three areas of Ethics a Descriptive, Normative, and Meta-ethics. Descriptive ethics is simply news reporting; it states what a culture or group of humans do or what they believe, etc. Descriptive Ethics has nothing to do with morality but stating beliefs people actually have. Normative is the study of universal rules of morality. Meta-ethics has nothing to do with acts -- it deals with the vocabulary used in ethics.
