Thanks for posting this video. It is 5AM right now and I can't wait until Whole Foods opens so I can go out and buy me some coconuts to try this. Looks really good! :)
HINT: Put a wet dish towel underneath and it will help to keep it stable when you hack at it. Use the same thing for cutting corn off the cob! Make sure the towel is clean, and you can cut the kernels away without the cob moving, then take the towel and transfer the corn to a bowl.
coconut water and coconut water kefir are the same thing?what is coconut water because i've heard about it a lot and i can't find it in my country. how many calories does it contain? thx a lot
@Jaiandmai "young" coconut is the name of the coconut. It's called a "young coconut" and does not refer to its age. It's just a type as shown exactly in this video (not the brown, oval/round ones you may be used to seeing). Does that help?
@TheTravis224 I though it does refer to its age, it's young because it is younger than the old coconut. That is the stage before it matures on the tree. If it matured longer then it would start to turn brown on the outside and there would be less water and more flesh as what happens in the maturing process is that the water turns into flesh and so there is always more flesh and less water in the old ones also the old ones are more oily as oil is produced as it matures...? I could be wrong though
thanks you i tried this and mines kefir is in its jar fermenting right now =). also, i took the meat and added a little water, blended it, and then added honey and it was really delicious!
@jdjas Actually, if you look at the top of the coconut, you will see three distinct segments. Usually the larger segment has a "soft" spot....just poke around with your large knife. When you find it, you can put the point of your knife straight down in, then pull down on the knife so you are at a slicing angle and it will be super easy to just slice around the top, just as she shows. You do not need a hammer or need to hack it....just find that "sweet spot". You'll see....easy! ;)
this is great. the husband and I just bought our first coconut. we had no clue what to look for when buying it, nor were we entirely sure the best way to open it so this is wonderful!
I just subscribed. I have about 100 pounds to loose, and I am seriously considering a raw path. You have such a positive vibe, I love it! Also, I think you are stunning!
did it look like that when u got it or is that with all the brown outside cut off?
