  • i have the old stampede too. i was wondering if you had to put metal gears? and im running a 7.2 1700mah with a speed gems 17 turn motor... im planning to get a 7.2 5000mah for $30 or a 8.4 5000mah hump pack for $54... what you think???

  • @preciadoalex123

what modle do you have and is it brushed or brushless.

    6cell 7.2 batteries are stock.

when i first chose a better battery i looked for a 8cell 9.6V thats what was used in this video, the battery i used i got on ebay. i got

    4X TENERGY 9.6V 3800MAH 8cells for 90 dollars. but that was 4 years ago

try checking out INTELLECT batteries those are mached cells and CHARGE, and RUN better. id really go with a 7 or 8 cell . . . OR LIPO IF POSSIBLE

  • @Ydoucare8 ts a 1999 stampede brushed there is a gens ace battery in mind that is 8.4 5000mah for $25 AT hobby partz . com i want it cuz my car goes like 20mph

  • @preciadoalex123

thats decent. that will get you mabie 25-28mph. if you want to go faster you WILL have to upgrade. that year stampede either came with a xl1 speed control with is rated no more than 7 cells an no lower than 17 turns on the motor. or the mecanical speed control wich im not familiar at all with. thats about how fast you can go with that setup. hope this helped

  • @Ydoucare8 yeah ima use the battery on speed gmes 17t has more toque than titan12t (maybe speed)

  • favorite beach right here

  • Mine but blue

  • Its not the xl-1 its the old kind like

  • great video

  • hey is this the traxxas stampede xl-1?

  • your video camera suck cock

  • How long would you get out of the battery?

  • That's going to be my next car to buy, I like traxxas rc car's and truck's. if you have time take a look at my Rustler vxl it go's 100+MPH, and i will show you make it your rc car faster

  • so if i convert my stampede xl-5 to a vxl, what else would i have to change on the truck?

  • @nick00000012 nothing unless you just wanted to go to cvd's i had to on mine but i has a castle 9000kv set up on lipos but if your truck is box stock first i would upgrade the shocks to alloy and all alloy chamber and toe links and cvd's and all rpm arms and shock towers then go to the vxl and i would upgrade the tires to a belted tire so they wont ballon up on you

  • Hi I was thinking of converting my legacy model. I got it when i was like six I think, now I am in college. It pretty old think I got it in the 90's. It still runs great but was thinking of putting a brush-less engine in it. I was wondering did you have to change much, I know i probably have to change the spur gear or something. Also can you drive on sand safely, its one of the most abrasive substances, I have been wanting to go on sand just wondering. Thanks all information is much obliged.

  • @Cyborg1170 sand would be no problem for it i would go with a seald reviever box and water proof servo then you could drive it in water as well

  • Time for some updating brotha man

  • Wow thats nice, thats how they come/look all stock out of the box? I like alot, rims look nice too.

  • @demonsparkx idk if you got one of these yet but if not i have a hobby shop and can get you one and i have a bran new set of monster truck tires and wheels from a monster mutt they where never used as soon as i got it i upgraded the tires and wheels

  • Hey what Is a better rc the regular stampede or the nitro stampede?

  • @maer06 vxl stampede nitro is slower and you have to do all the cleaning and after run prep and all that

  • The optional 23 tooth pinion gear is for long distance high speed running only, if you run it off road you are more likely to burn your motor up.just warning you because the same thing happen to me.

  • how much run time do you get with that battery?

  • @samejia10 15-20 mins

  • U live in Ventura I live in Oxnard and where did you get an 8-cell battery I barley got a newer stampede and I was having fun until something plastic around the front shocks was broken and I didn't even know until I was going to charge the battery. Can someone please reply.

  • Can a legacy stampede handle brushless? Mine's an oringinal (has MSC not even ESC!!) Will it be able to handle it? Let me know!

  • did you just put the brushless setup in a xl1 stampede?

  • nice. ha, i put those same wheels and tires on my rustler

  • hey u should go bashing with mee soon i live in carp

  • what's the name of this fuckin great song?

    btw. awesome car

  • @monsterGAUZ The song is Stone Temple Pilots-Vasoline

  • @PsychologyInfo ........ no........

  • nice truck i got one of the newer ones

  • Go old stamped goo woo dude that's awesome

  • i live near ventura too!!! hahhaha sickkk

  • how fast u think it tops with that 8 cell

  • @rigthguard420 around 46-56

    this is like 49

if you get a intelect ZAPPED 8 cell youll get 56mph. with proper gearing. the cells are mached so you get more performance

  • @Ydoucare8 thats pretty fast i had a venom 8 cell and it sucked then i got a traxxas 7 cell it was faster then the 8 how much would that intelect cost

  • @rigthguard420

about 56mph costs about 50 bucks thou

  • i like your body on that dude but mine never last for me!

  • Im getting a venom 8 cell 5000mah battery for my stampede vxl in a couple of weeks.

  • @SiMArSiM11 i had the same problem with my rustler. i put it in backwards and tied it down with a rubberband/ bungie cord hope this helped

  • lol song is wrong

  • i have this pede its indestructable haha i broke 1 small part over like 4 years and i was def bashing it haha what a blast and goof first car

  • Hay..

how could you put a 8 cell battery in there.. i've got a rustler and i can't put a 8cell battery in my truggy... how you was able to do that ??

  • whats the differnce between XL-5 and VXL is VXL brushless

  • Great video, i have a stampede xl-5 and i need to get me a 8 cell to get more running time too. rite now it has a 7 cell 8.4 it came with , 3000 mah and i need to get more run time.

  • Just a word to the wise. All older traxxas models have plastic gears in the transmissions. Running a velineon you might want to upgrade to the newer steel gears or risk stripping the transmission.

  • Hey "DUDE" you spelt "Brought" Wrong in the beginning

  • where did you get those tires

  • @12joden these are actually the stock tires and rims on the older legacy models of the stampede these are not stock tallons these are older this stampede is 5 years old

Traxxas Part # "3670" Just make sure if you get all 4 to get the rear and front. the rims even on the recent models are slightly different whare the axle connects. youll notice this on any stampede tires and wheels the inside of the rim youll notice the front is clode and the rear hex hum is in more.

  • @Ydoucare8 Do they still make the original tyres and wheels to buy brand new?

  • Plus a Slash or Stampede if they break you just put on rpm and it will practically never break again, theres also so many mods for hobby rcs, so in the end you save money on having to buy a new cheap rc everytime it breaks. Plus the hobby rcs are faster, and when your kid can handle it really well you can throw in a brushless and boom more speed, unlike where cheap rcs your screwed to always be slow.

  • Pretty good salesman! LOL ITS TRUE THOU, I have my whole front end on this truck in red aluminum, if you see my low voltage detection vid you can see it. working on making the whole truck aluminum.

  • @Ydoucare8, Cool, though not one for aluminum though. I find aluminum's too heavy and breaks really easy compared to rpm. Ive broken aluminum parts, but have yet to break rpm. In my opinion aluminum's all show and not as much strength, you also pay a lot more than rpm for something weaker.

  • @Ydoucare8 why

  • @Kevster012 my stampede vxl is basically all RPM nothing has broke in years.

  • Nice video, and these are nice little trucks. I also really like the slash, and 4wd slash. Well I like Traxxas in general they make really nice Rcs. I currently have a E-revo converted to brushless Mamba monster, and a slash. Though I prefer the E-revo something like the slash or stampede are great if you have a little kid too. Funny how people say stuff like: but hobby rcs cost so much, but I say well it will last longer than any tyko, or radioshack, and a Slas is only 200 bucks.

  • wat kind of motor u runin

  • @505lowrider

    VXL velinean 3500kv (10 TURNS) 540 size

  • do you need a vxl transmission for the vxl system

  • NO! BUT

The transmissions are exactly the same EXCEPT other stock stampedes that were not originally VXL only have plastic gears thir is 3 gears total that make up the trany, YOU WILL BREAK THEM EVENTUALLY WITH BRUSHLESS POWER. you dont have to speand 40+ dollars for a new tranny, you can just buy the metal gears at any hobby store for mabie 20-30 dollars.

I HIGHLEY RECCOMEND YOU UPGRADE THE TRANNY IF YOU DECIDE TO GO BRUSHLESS.

  • @Ydoucare8

Very True! I started off with an xl-5 pede before the Velineon system or waterproof stuff was made by traxxas. I eventually upgraded to the VXL system and within 5-10 min the stock tranny was toast on a 7 cell.

Use the metal gear diff. and the metal idle gear, but get the drive gear in delrin. metal on metal wear to quickly. good luck. and to the OP, nice vid!

  • electric how much

  • about $350 for the brushless fast as hell one

  • can I ride the original stampede vxl with ah 8 cell nimh batterie?

  • yes you can do a 9 cell if you wanted. you can ride and push hard with a a 8 cell and probally never reach 140*degrees

the vxl esc is rated 4-9 cells or 11.1V 3s

  • thank you very much

  • hey is it w weel drive

  • @traxxas5308 If you mean Rear wheel drive. Yes

  • 4 how much

  • your lucky you have the origanal

  • i have the original to, but the body isint the truck style, its kinda like the grave digger body, but lime green. im thinking of selling it.

  • sweet i have a rustler vxl and i live in newport we should go drive some time

  • 7 cell i think it is....

  • Melko tylsä video ja huonoo musaa!!!!!!! BORING!!!

  • did you only upgrade to the new vxl system?

  • No this has a 8 cell one more cell than 7, great if you cant afford or dont want lipo, and the all plastic gearbox transmission had to be replaced. shreaded the gears.

  • did you apgrade that from the old stamped? i have the old on and i want to upgrade it

  • Yes this was a old stampede with the stinger 20turn, and the xl1000 speed control.

  • dud we dount give a fuck about where u live

  • the toughest truck you could ever own! love the stampede

  • how long does the battery last, should i get a larger battery or would it be crazy

  • slow

  • savage is way better......way sicker

  • NO way. price, fun, durability, TRAXXAS rule.

  • but when you do break something, replacements are expencive!!! but you can upgrade!!

  • true but its also in a totally different class as well...

  • what runtimes do u get?

  • it was ok i like the rustler vxl better tho

  • is the shocks ajustable

  • whered u get that body??

  • learn to spell u look like a cunt

  • i wish they made this 4wd

  • @7paul7paul7 hpi wheely king 4x4..... you can even make it brushless

  • @7paul7paul7 well hpi makes a wheely king 4wd which is basically the same concept and size

  • @7paul7paul7 Your wish has been granted! They are soon releasing a 4X4 stampede!

  • @7paul7paul7 they doo

  • i converted my old stampede to vxl too

  • for 180$ , its good

  • isnt it like 280 cause the vxl is the brushless and the xl-5 is the one that costs 180

  • lowlifelivin, the mah capacity has nothing to do with how fast it will go. A 1800 mah 9.6V will have the same top speed as a 4500mah 9.6V. The difference is that the 1800 wont last as long because it will drain a lot faster.

  • thats not tru 4 some reason the higher the mah the high the jolt will be but only 4 a min and then 2 9.6

  • is it water proof

  • is this lipo or NiMh?

  • it is nimh but u can us lipo but it says it is not safe to use it but with it it will go so much faster but i am not going to use lipo cause one pack will last about a week driving it every day

  • The description says 8 cell 9.6V, so it's 8 cell NiMH.

  • how much does one of these cost?

  • my traxxas stampede vxl costed 600 for truck, battery and charger so around 300

  • I want the camper at 2:36

  • is your stampede runing stock

  • he has an 8 cell 3600 mah 9.6v battery. i estimate he could get like 50 mph with that. i plan on getting a vxl with one of those batteries too.

  • i run a 8 cell 9.6v 4500 mah battery on my VXL stampede and my truck reaches 50-55 so a 3600 mah probably makes the truck go about 45-47. the only thing bad about the VXL stampede is the center gravity and the constant wheelies thats why i have a VXL rustler also cause the rustler nevers wants to pull a wheelie.

  • does the 8 cell fit in the chassis or did u have to tape it down. i have a 7 cell stick pack in my stampede xl-5, but it is to big, and i have to tape it in.

  • no you can get battery hold downs that look like the stock but are missing the edge that holds down the battery and i just use an old wrist watch strap. the strap is the best cause it is easy to take out because you can just loosen it and the battery slips right out.

  • I bought a stampede vxl 5 mins ago =] cant wait 4 it 2 get here

  • that car is badass

  • Whats your run time?

  • I like this song. Cool Toy Car

  • its not a toy car

  • it's not?

  • not even close...

  • They're called "hobby grade" cars. Mostly because they require maintenance and careful battery care. Also they're too fast for most kids to drive, they just end up smashing them into shit.

  • Im 11 and I have one of these cars with a 3 cell lipo and im fine. But i suppose that kids that arent experienced shouldnt use it. i also have a roll cage for safety which was my dad's idea.

  • But you agree there's a difference between hobby grade and toy grade, right?

  • Yeah

  • dude i have that same battery on my pede it used to be a xl5 but i put steel tranny, and vxl shafts to upgrade 2 brushless and i allready broke a rear link and front castor but it is a BEAST i wish i would have just bought the VXL

  • Is your truck waterproof..cause im getting one exactly like it..

  • you should change the driveshafts to vxl stock there stronger.

  • i have the first edition stampede too, i just put the vxl system in it

  • nice truck i havent seen these ones in a long time

  • i got my vxl rustelr going 75 with 3s lipo and racing oil its alot better than regular oil!!!!!!!!!!

  • i have the exact stampede but with the stock stinger motor

  • i still have all the original parts but the xl 1000. that was a big pain. i beleve i broke the 40 dollar part 3 times.

  • me 2! mines like 13 years old!

  • sweet video nice truck nice song love stp! *****

  • Nice vid man!

  • Nice, like the hill climb.

  • i got one of these bone stock laying around. i miss it, i really to get it running again.

  • nice video though

what is its top speed rite now

ive got mine goin about 45-50 mph

  • This one i had geared low for torque witch helped big time on hill climbing at the end of the vid.

I have a 35tooth pinion that i put on for street driving only and no wheelstands. Just Fly Bys. It will do close to the lipo speeds probally about 45-50 mph.

  • thats pretty good but i think you should get a new body for it.

i got the brand new stampede vxl brushless with 7 cell 4200mah and it works really nice

i just hate the old body i like the new ones

  • this one is 5yrs old

it just got a Enhancement medication

Its a classic. but yea totally agree it needs a new top.

  • That was a pretty good hill climb for only 2 wheel drive.

  • keeps saying vid no longer available but whatever, can u make a vid of ur xg 499
