At first, I felt as though it would be more captivating to see words on screen correlating to your examples and tips. In the end, I was left more inspired to write.
ghod... If I had someone in high school English just simplify it... Your great.. (class of 64)
I have had so many business writing classes I have become fairly good but you brought understanding. I write like i talk but I should write without all the clutter.. Again thanx..
I think these are good points for someone writing a school paper, but not necessarily for an actual writer with a style. The frowning upon of the passive voice, in particular, is annoying. If you're writing in first person, through a character's voice, passive voice is how people often talk. Holden Caulfield spoke passively often, and that's probably the greatest novel ever written. King, Oates, Munro, all shift between third and second person masterfully. You just have to know what you're doing.
Masterfully is the key.. Until the writer has mastered the use of first, second, third, passive and active.. don't fall into the trap... learn how to use those and then weave them in. JMHO

The passive voice should never be used. Also, a preposition is something you should never end a sentence with.
