  • Wow...you live beautifull peter! I'm Jealous!

    greetz

  • can you do some more videos like this? i live in the dreary depressing US midwest (my state rhymes with misery) and its nice to get a glimpse of the beautiful countryside

  • Thanks for taking me to some places that I would never see...

  • i love your video's,peter :) i think its great what your doing ,keep up with it mate and take care of yourself ^_^

  • Wow i wish i lived in your part of england.0_0

  • Cool church building right by road, Germany wow Zimmers are cool, nice day at the park I'd say.

  • I see the novelty has worn off regarding all the views.

  • Nice accent and you seem really nice.

  • I think you did very well filming, the only thing I can thing of is to get a tripod stand for the camera to keep it still, but you really dont need to go out and spend the money on that when you do most of your videos in your home.

  • Chances are she didn't get much, if anything, from eating one fresh mushroom x) if it even was a psilocybin cap after all!

I quite like this new style of video, but please don't stop doing the talking ones either! I love listening to your voice and hearing your stories, no matter what they're about (though I do like the ones of The Old Days best).

Video tips; the only one I can think of is to pause more often in your commentary to give yourself good times to fade out/cut less obviously.

  • I love your car! It's so cute :O) Such beautiful scenery. You did a pretty good job with the filming a little shaky but fun just the same.

  • I'm in Japan for a year now, it was lovely seeing such familiar scenery and brought back many memories of holidays in such places

  • Great Video Peter, I actually liked the Zooming, showing the heather and textures.

Its only cos you didnt use a tripod thats all. There is an "digital image stabilizer" built in on that camera that you could utilize for the zoom shots, ;-) Great job and commentary! cant wait for to see the next one!

  • young ladies picking magic mushrooms and having trips with strange men in hybrid cars

is the ticket to long life eh gramps? nice work old man but you might want to get a tripod or even a monopod, but you cant drink tea and hold a monopod at the same time, or can you? i'll check in on you again, magical mushroom man!

  • Hello Peter

A very good try for you first video.

The running commentary gives the video it's primary interest.

As for video tips, try not to use the zoom so much. The best button on the video camera is the red on/off one. Zoom in to the point of interest then start the camera again. I've made a couple of videos myself so check these out. All the best dave

  • Have you ever had a Mushroom in your mouth, Peter?

  • i hate mexicans

  • Peter, I grew up in Manhattan, Kansas which was in the county called Riley. Manhattan sits in the valley and the hills around are very very similar. Locals call them the Flint Hills. Some of the growth is a bit more sparse, but this video reminded me of roaming those hills 40 plus years ago. I enjoyed your film very much. xoxoxoo

  • Hmm....

  • Why watch it then?!? :)

  • Very enjoyable tour! I'd love to see more local sights like the coach house.

  • that's really neat.

trip to the countryside is really relaxing, well noise aside.

    thanks for sharing!

  • I like the new style Peter

  • lovely!!

  • I'm sure you are aware of your Telecom promotion in New Zealand. It's so cool to see you everywhere! You are on a huge banner taking up the entire side of my office building!

  • skinny dipping huh?

  • lol, were those kids skinny dipping? i loved this video, you should definantly do more videos outside

  • Grandpa start playing warcraft and fraps it, that would be hilarious

  • That was so interesting and fun to watch :D

Thanks alot for sharing it :)

  • What a beautiful place, Peter. Thank you for showing us.

  • Thank you Peter so much for showing us the lovely english country side that most of us will never see...

  • Why he is a "old bastard" and a "pig".

  • Explain please?

  • and that is an insult because...?

  • wow. and what are you planning to do when YOU reach 80, kill yourself?

  • dude shut the fuck up u go die just cause he's got mad skillz and u dont so just go lie in a ditch and die

  • OHHHH Peter, a Toyota Prius. I have much respect for yourself but not a Prius arrrggghhhh!!!!

  • What a beautiful place to live!

  • Another awesome video! You are THE best Peter! Don't let any other pathetic losers tell you otherwise, you wouldn't have such a devoted following if everyone found you boring as some of these idiots have been posting. Keep doing what you do and I wish you the best of luck with your tour to Germany with the Zimmers. Best wishes from New Zealand!

  • Thanks for the great video and showing us your countryside. Very nice!

  • Must be pretty nasty, to have a yawning/ breathing/ useless commenting disorder of approx. 70 times a minute.

  • Hey been seeing you adds on TV here in NZ, you do know telecom's internet sucks big time, takes hours to load your videos

  • Not only are the steering wheels on the wrong side of the car; the people are all driving on the wrong side of the road! Crickey!

    (Colorado~~USA)

  • since you're obviously a youtube partner, where is your fancy channel banner ?

    just curious.

if you need help designing one, just ask your adoring fans to design one.

  • Likely the closest I'll ever get to Yorkshire..

    Thanks for this!

  • wow! that was really cool, thank you for sharing! i love your car!

  • beautiful views, beautiful coachhouse! Thanks so much for the tour of the moors! What type of camera is it you use? Great pics, nice and steady. Im thinking of getting a camera and was curious what you use. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the tour!

  • England has such beautiful countryside, rain or shine! Living here in Florida we don't dare swim in the rivers or the lakes because of alligators!

  • We don't swim in the lakes or rivers here either, for fear of the Shopping carts and syringes.

  • Nice car gramps! And great video!

  • You seem to have the knack of editing your videos already!

  • Beautiful area.

  • yay rain i want some rain. thank you so much for this journey - i was wonderful to have a taste of the world around you.

  • If you want rain, you've picked the right country.

Floods in Northumberland, rivers bursting their banks, etc. People getting killed because of floods. Not good, we are fed up of the rain, it's wiped out our summer, btw, us Brits are used to it!

  • see, i am fed up with heat. i live in california, near san francisco. it's way too hot right now - i'm waiting for some fog to roll in. i gotta say though, i sure wouldn't enjoy those floods either.

  • Maybe we could do an exchange for a few weeks. I think you might want to swap back rather quickly though!

Come over in the winter time (say late January) when its -15 degrees C with freezing fog and the Relative Humidity is really high making it feel like -25 degrees C.

  • sounds like a plan to me ;)

  • wow it looks like everybody drives the same car.

  • What a beautiful and interesting area you live in. Lucky you. :-)

  • pete do you know that new zealand uses on of your videos , to promote and try and sell internet security on telecom broadband , i thought you was a kiwi so i had to look you up , i seen it the other day cos im currently in new zealand , please get back to me

    dan

  • He did a video a few weeks back describing that the Kiwi's were there filming for a whole week.

  • Hey peter, I would suggest a samsung vp-mx10. They are only about £160 now and you can pick them up from PCWORLD.

It's basicly the red button to record and the red button to stop.

    It's 13.8mb and i think its HD

  • Awesome Video. I love the rain.

  • Great video, peter.

  • hahahaah ur awesome =p peter 5/5

  • LOL

  • ur the guy off the telecom ad.

    I hate that ad.

And I also dont care if you people go "ohhh ur dummmmb" and give me thumbs down or watever

  • I liked watching your video. It was very good for a first attempt. I would like to do some video's also, but so far have not got it all together to make it work. Thank you for sharing this interesting scenery! You live in a beautiful area!

  • it's so beautiful there!

I like your car a alot too, very nice.

    :)

  • you have a beautiful little country there, friend, even with the impeding storm. Nice video, i enjoyed it very much.

  • I think that that was my favourite video that you have made yet. I should film some parts of Missouri for you to see--we have some lovely places as well (though probably not nearly as neat).

  • I really liked you opening story. It was quite amusing hearing the "magic mushroom" story. :)

I think it is very amazing that you have a hybrid car. Hybrids aren't really commonly bought here and especially not by senior citizens. Very progressive of you.

Thank you for showing us a bit of where you live. It is very pretty, and I learned quite a bit. Don't push yourself to far though for the video. It would have been okay not to make your video in the rain. Just take care of yourself. Thanks

  • Love your hybrid car Peter,, very cool!!

  • picking magic mushs is ok, but never ever brew or dry cos thats bad accrding to law aka pigs lol

  • wauw high tech car dude

  • That is such a beautiful countryside you live in! The hills and purple bushes and grazing sheep were spectacular to look at.

Ah, I'd love to visit England one day, it always has been a great wish of mine.

Your report was indeed interesting! :)

  • Yep. Inanity. Hotdoggy, quit now while you're behind.

BTW Hotdoggy, you can look up the words you don't understand in a "dictionary". Its a big book that tell you what words mean.

  • I also see you fade the visuals together which makes the video flow very well but you should also crossfade the audio. I'm not sure what software you use but this should be just as easy as fading visuals and you will get a nice smooth audio track.

  • Hi Peter, great video.

If you were keen to continue to do more filming outdoors I would suggest investing in a monopod. They are much easier and lighter than a tripod and just perfect for the stuff you do.

As someone else has said, as a general comment, maybe wait until you've finished a sentence before cutting to the next shot?

I sniggered to myself when you made the side comment about filming children, I couldn't agree more.

  • Gray days are actually not so bad when filming from an artistic point of view. The colours are much better captured by the camera I have learned once by a photographer. The sun doesnt relly do that much to help the picture.

  • That was great Peter, thanks :)

  • Hotdog, your comments are so inane, I can only point and laugh at you. hahahahahahahahaha

  • Very interesting...

  • Very nice Peter, thanks for taking us on an outing :-) It's nice to see some of your greater surroundings, it looks like you live in a very nice area.

  • Don't be so jealous.

  • That was a lovely video Peter, you live in such beautiful countryside, I am jealous!

  • Thanks for taking us with you on your travels. I look forward to seeing more travels with you. By the way, nice car.

  • Did you take Zipster to the Pub?

South Yorkshire. I am a Peter who lives in the West Riding.

  • Nice tour! Keep up the good work.

  • Toothy, I stand corrected. You ARE funny.

Oh, not your comments - they are pathetic and silly, with the humor level of a 4 year old.

You see, Toothy, we are not laughing with you, we are laughing *at* you.

  • Oh how beautiful! Can't get used to the steering wheel on the opposite side and the opposite driving, though.Enjoyed it!

  • I cant get used to it either and I live here!

I was thinking on the bus um its on the other side LOL

  • You did a good job Peter - especially considering the rain.

  • I find it both ineresting and instructive (for Americans) that all the vehicles seen in your video are small, high mileage ones. I only wish we Americans would all start thinking smaller when it comes to cars.

  • I think our country is to busy stroking its own ego to think small. I have seen two smart carts in the last week, so maybe I'm wrong.

  • Hi Peter, great video! More "outside broadcasts", please :-)

  • You're a very nasty person, Hotdog.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you!

  • You're a great man!

  • =] Glad to see u good peter

  • i watched all of that its your very peaceful :)

i would love to live somewhere nice like that its so beautiful :P

    loved the video Peter ..xx

  • Great video Peter. :)

    I enjoyed very much.

  • I'd love to live there. It's absolutly beautiful there! I'm sick of living in a overly crowded town.

  • Excellent video - Yorkshire can be a lovely place, and you showed it off well. I look forward to more "outdoor" videos. : )

  • MIKMA WAS HERE

  • I enjoyed your video. it is nice seeing different areas around the world.

  • You did a great job - thanks for the tour. I love the architecture there, we don't have buildings that old here in Canada that I am aware of anyway. I hope you will do some travelogue videos in Germany when you are there for us Peter. Thank you.

  • That was an amazing video, Peter.

Sometimes the less "professional" it is, the better. Good on ya. :)

  • That was wonderful. I loved seeing the heather on the hillside! My grandparents were from Dundee. I see everyone is driving the same car! I really enjoyed this!

  • This is great Peter! You seemed to have gotten the video camera work down pretty well. Looking forward to more of this. I really liked the introductory story too. Nice car by the way.

  • awesome, i wish we had more places like that here in the US.. mostly city nd suburbs here not much history or much country side..

  • The scenery out there is absolutely beautiful!

  • thanx.

    i enjoyed the sceneary.

    u did a great job.

  • Ahhh, lovely Peter, would love to see more, please? :)

    Hugs,

    Mike

  • Home for tea. sounds very civilised, .....biscuits anyone?

I like your hybrid car, you boy racer you! ( just kidding )

lovely vid, look forward to some 'moor' outdoor. Thanks!

  • haha, i think by tea, english people mean dinner :P

  • Dinner is a big meal in the middle of the day and Tea is a smaller meal in the evening, people don't usualy have both.

  • Oh I love this, so nice to see the surrounding countryside where you live. Loved the coach house; would absolutely Love to go there!

And I adore your little Toyota hybrid car! Never seen that model before, and know it's definately not available here in Canada. Please tell me what model it is, as I am most curious.

I'm sorry I have no critique to offer you on your outdoor videoing skills. I doubt I could have done such a good job :)

  • It's a right hand drive Prius. Nothing special, just like the ones you see polluting the roads with their smugness all over North America.

  • Hmm well if it is a Prius, I guess that's cool. Priced at $38,284,81 Cdn, including taxes, pdi, and all of the other b.s. they add on, plus I daresay there would be other charges amounting to a couple of grand on top of that, it seems to be en expensive endeavour.

Originally I wanted to trade in my old '02 Honda Accord SE for a new honda hybrid. I found out they're no longer available, due to lack of demand.

Aparently, not many people could afford to buy them, at a price nearly 48K.

  • I like the Smart Four-Two's that have been on sale, but I really wish they would give you the option of the European engines. They got 50 mpg, compared to the paltry 34mpg that they are rate for here.

Hybrid technology is fine, but I enjoy the vehicles that just happen to have it built in, like the Ford Escape or the Honda Civic hybrids. The Prius looks funny, and just isn't an attractive car IMHO.

  • Well don't forget in the USA, they have a smaller gallon, so there is no comparison to a true, Imperial gallon of 160 ounces. They call a quart 32oz. and a pint 16 oz., whereas in Canada and the UK it is a 40 oz. quart and a 20 oz. pint. So when they rate mpg in the USA, they are talking about a 128 oz. gallon.

The Accord hybrid is great, but at $31,122.30 Cdn. including taxes, pdi, etc., plus all the other fees, it's less than the Prius, but still expensive.

  • Cont.:

The smart cars aren't that practical where I live. They don't do well in a big snowstorm, when you're trying to commute in the winter. People ran out and bought them, and are now trying to get rid of them.

  • I never thought of that. When I was in Toronto in 05, I saw them everywhere. Are they really being offloaded that quickly?

  • Well I went to the auto trader site, and there's about two dozem listed for sale in the southern Alberta region. I guess they're fine for some people; a lot probably have more than one vehicle.

Oh, and I made a mistake in my previous message. I typed Accord hybrid where I should have said Civic hybrid. Sorry about that :)

  • Two dozen?

That's not good news for BMW. They had some money riding on Canada...but when you have bitter cold in the Winter (with exception of Vancouver, let's say), that doesn't surprise me.

I think we should just ride scooters and mopeds...with hockey pads. That would be attractive, and functional. I'll take a goalie mask, just to make it one complete package.

    :)

  • Lol! Hahahahaaaa well I daresay sooner or later it will come to that. I rather think that I won't be participating in such an evolution such as that, as my old bones are way too week and brittle to withstand any mishaps that Certainly would occur. I had my experiences as a 15 yr. old boy, with his 1968 50 cc Honda Sport.

  • And as if that wasn't enough education on my part, a year later I was riding on my friend's 1953 NSU 500cc single cyl. bike, with a nitro carb., when the head blew off. We both hit the rhubarb, but somehow we wre both unscathed. ;)

  • Loved this too! The countryside is beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

  • Very enjoyable Peter! I look forward to more. Thanks!

  • very nice Peter. Thanks for the tour and commentary of some English countryside.

  • Very enjoyable Peter! I look forward to more. Thanks!

  • oooooohhhhhhhhhh you have a hybrid car that is cool

  • Toothy, you once again author a comment you believe to be witty, but only shows a shameful lack of intelligence, and the poorest of personal skills.

Why don't you let your mommy know the kind of comments you make here? C'mon, you can handle your mommy now, can't you?

  • Peter, also, does your headset with the boom mic plug into your vid camera. That might help the sound, but it was not all that bad. Ne@ka might benefit from an off camera mic in the video in your sitting room. All I understood was the cold water tap.

    Ah, those were the days.

    Be well, my friend!

    FSTOPDR.

  • Very nice!! I've seen folks to the hang gliding thing over here in South Carolina near Kitty Hawk.

  • I loved the trip!

  • beautiful countryside! i really enjoyed the video, and your commentaries:) looking forward to many more

  • SO you aided someone to take illegal drugs.

    Magic Mushrooms are NOT LEGAL.

  • I saw a couple of times that you cut a scene before you finished talking, maybe that's a point to improve

  • Peter, great video and car! I would have paid to have Mrs. Boo-kay to show up on the screen on the dashboard. That inn looks divine.

As to filming... very few videos are not improved by the use of a tripod. I know, they are a pain to carry, but they help a lot. I have seen some creative ones. One was a small bean bag on which you can rest the camera. Another was a kitchen knife with a string tied to it. The other end was around the bold in the bottom of the camera...

  • One stands on the knife and puts tension on the string by holding the camera high enough to make the string tight. No, its not as good as a tripod but its a breeze to put in your pocket. There was a saying in my camera clube, "there are too kinds of tripods, the bad ones and the ones that weigh as much as France." There are also classy looking walking sticks that unscrew at the top to make a monopod.

Be well and keep on shooting and hug Winnie for me!

    FSTOPDR.

  • Great work peter. I have an 1867 Authors Edition of Charles Dickens "David Copperfield. Mr. Copperfield came to America that year to tour. Has anyone told you how attractive you are lately? Don't misunderstand I'm an old heterosexual myself! You are a joy to follow.

  • Thanks for the this video showing us abit of your countryside. So what if it was abit rough around the edges, I enjoyed it, nice personal touch to it..I look forward to additional mini-tour videos

  • Very good Peter. You could maybe get less jerky panoramic shots using a mini tripod, which would rest nicely on those drystone walls.

  • thats a nice ass car

  • I love these kinds of videos. Please do alot more, since I love the British Isles and will probably never get there so you are my proxie tour guide.

    Great video.

  • I dunno - I think that landscape would be pretty spectacular under snow. Why don't you show us this winter?

  • great idea to show us around on a journey i hope u do it agin

  • I envy you your location of residence! What a lush green place! You did good Papaw, please do more out and about videos.

    Peace.

  • Toyota Hybrid car, that is one cool little car! Brilliant video Peter, absolutely loved it!

  • I hink youtube must be healthy - you look great!

  • i agree! you look well peter!

  • Your video was fine just as it is! I wish you would have gone into the old coach house though, and maybe got some film in there, had a cup of coffee, etc?

  • you look great!

  • I like the video. I find it amusing that the screen on you car said caution when you were parked.

  • I prefer your blogs. But, I am sure you will improve on this. Why not try more interviews? What happened to your campaign to get more elderly people using videos? Since you started that campaign, has it changed anyone elses life like it changed yours? Good luck to you Peter. Spend your time doing what you want to do and enjoy, that will shine through on your videos.

  • SHROOOMS!!!

  • And you're just another rude asshat, so why should he care?

  • You live in an absolutely beautiful part of the world, sir. As an urban desert dweller, I truly envy you.

Always a pleasure to watch your videos, Peter. :)

  • shut up! WHY WATCH IT THEN? twat!

  • love it :D

  • Great views!

  • Thanks for the nice little trip. Hopefully, you'll make more outdoor videos in the future.

  • Oh Peter, it made me feel so nostalgic seeing the moors of my childhood again! I must go back. I don't think there was anything wrong with your video that a bit of sunshine could put right!

  • I thought you did a very good job Peter....for filming outside for the first time. The only advise I would give is to pause the recording when cars drive by...so your narrative could be heard better.

  • Cool! :D

  • I think the filming was very well done. Enjoyed the tour immensely. You live in quite a pleasant area!

  • You're awesome. I wish you were my grandfather. And yes, our world is horrible nowadays, but I take take all the good things that exist and incorporate them into my life.

  • Yes its dreadful.

Because we have had two worlds wars and a holocaust and a cold war.

Grow up, its much nicer now, theres less racism less discrimination and no more mad wars.

  • How is there less racism

  • And by saying how much nicer the world is now, do you mean by how people's morals have been completely shattered?? Sure there hasn't been any major wars, but does that mean our world is really better??

  • Good filming Peter

  • It was a great tour, Peter. Beautiful country!

I'm hardly an expert videographer, but I think your camera work is perfectly fine. A little shake, but you'll get some of that when it's handheld.

    Moosie

  • Enjoy the Germany trip! We'll be right here when you get back.
