It may sound like a cliche but the best way to find is not to look. Just concentrate on yourself, do things you enjoy, go out and have fun with out worrying about meeting someone. I think people in general place far too much emphasis on meeting someone or having a partner. I am completely alone yet not lonely. By the way, I understand the confidance issue but that won't be such an issue if you meet someone spontaniously, through friends, studies, at work etc etc.
