I have an Inspiron 1100
Its run XP, Vista, and now 7.
YES 7 does run very light on its feet. To solve the heat problem I use a program that keeps the fan on high spped. Keeps the CPU around 100F
It runs so well, that i can actually run a virtual machine with windows 7 on that TOO. Very stable laptop. Still have the original Pentium 4 processor. :P

i have done the same,,,,,,win 7 is cooler tan any other interface,,i love it all,,,i have my laptop on my lap sometimes and get a dead leg and it burns lol

lmao im using the same laptop right now except 512mb ram instead of 1gig. windows 7 looks cool but theres no good reasons to upgrade to it (unless you buy a new computer with it already installed)

most of those problems probably stem from the driver issues, video is much smoother for me on 7.
