At least this Japanese song sounds similar to one of the background songs in Battle of the Planets... usually, when they were piloting the Phoenix. Love Mark, Jason, Tiny, Princess and Keop. One of my 1st Anime loves. lol
I actually bought this version of DVDs ..... it was a little harder to watch @ first ..... BUT IT ROCKS .... i still like SANDY FRANK : BATTLE OF THE PLANETS intro better ( for the cartoon ) ..........
But the Gatchaman song sticks in ya head .......... LOVE 'EM BOTH ........
My biggest problem with the Sandy Frank version is the fact they had to cheese up the cartoon by adding 7-Crap-7 to fill the holes created by censoring the violence and the plot holes. If you have a chance to watch the Japanese versions (subtitled) they are awesome. Gotchaman, Gotchaman!!
Where would you find the Japanese version, Ninja Science Gotchaman? Can it be found with English subtitles? Or the Battle of The Planets version for that matter? I think my nephew would like it, he used to watch this in the late 1970s early 80s.
Yeah, the so called violence that was edited out then is nothing but "childs play" now. Batman TAS had three times the violence in it and parents didnt bitch. You cant be a crime fighter without smacking someone around occasionaly.
If that's the musical intro that played in Japan, i'm glad we had the sandy frank's version. It's definitely one of my favorite music intro of all time.
Battle of the planets is what this was back in the 80's here in America first. Then later on in 90's on Cartoon Network got dubbed over as G-force. I'm 30 trust me I watched this when i was 5! I'll never forget it. This Japanese intro is cute too.
Battle of the Planets came out in the late 70's not the 80's. It was one of the first Anime's to come to the US. The show was called Gotchaman and it did start over in Japan. It's thanks to the Japanese that the US now has some good shows, such as Transformers, Godzilla, Power Rangers, and this one here to name a few. Although the US versions are great, I believe we shouldn't forget the original pioneers!
Those subs are terrible. Lemme guess, they're "HK subs", which seem to be popular with bootleg Sentai and Kamen Rider series. - Translated from Japanese to Chinese to Engrish. o_O
Hey thanks for uploading this. I love the "Taosozu! Galactor," opening the best. For those wondering, this was the intro for the first 23 episodes, then they went with the "Gatchaman no Uta," song for episodes 24-105 and this song became the closer.
Wish I would've seen your post some time ago. Most ppl have been posting the 2nd intro as the 1st intro. This is the correct 1st intro "Shuppa, shuppa, shuppa" :-D Love this version. Has all original animation.
If you watch the American version (BOTP) and listen carefully, sometimes you can hear the "Gatchaman" (Japanese) theme song interspersed in the episode. You can hear the "Gatchman, Gatchman" chorus in the background.
Gatchaman: original music as composed by its Japanese creators. Battle of the Planets theme: Americanized version. They are two entirely different creatures.
Both are good in their own right, but I have to agree the original is the better version.
And oh boy, the memories... :-) I would race home every day after school to catch this on TBS Superstation out of Atlanta. My grandmother had the foresight to order cable when it was in its infancy in the early 1980s.
Yes folks, this was the original Gatchaman, from 1972. This show was really the first of its kind - before Voltron and Robotron and all that. I've always loved the Battle of the Planets music, but I've grown to love this song as well. The melody is beautiful.
Was the entire instrumental theme a US invention? If so, I find myself confused. How could the same adaptation that gave us 7-Zark-7 also give us some of the best theme music ever conceived on any continent?
This is the original intro for the Japanese "Gotchaman" Here in the states and in Latin america was know as "Battle of the Planets" I like the Japanese version because it retained all the violence and blood. But I must say I grew up watching BOTP and the intrumental opening was owesome!
the US version also had much better voiceovers, specially galactor's,and keop, and the rest of g-forcewere all so fitting EXCEPT fer mark/ken/kasems.but on the remastered gatcha dvds kens voice fits but the rest dont.maybe its just me tho.

@riceboy1701e Exactly. That was so misleading to call that movie G-Force. Idiots.

This theme song reminds me of french 60s yé-yé music. I prefer the english version I remember from my youth, much more powerful sounding.

you really have to pause this show at random times, you find yourself wondering "what the hell were the animators thinking when they drew this???"

Thatt's because it was composed by the same guy who did the music for the original JOHNNY QUEST in 1964.

This is NOT the Battle of the Planets theme-it's "Destroy Galactor" from the original Gatchaman series!

This was Gochamon not BOTP or G Force they were rip offs from this, and I have to agree the intro sucks for this one, BOTP had the best intro.

Not rip-offs, censored and adapted versions. You can call a different anime a "rip-off" of something, but this is not the case.

G-Force is the second dub of the series from the 80's. Battle of the Planets is the first dub from 78. Original Gatchaman was in 72.
