In captivity loons are one of the most agressive birds towards humans that we handle. They dont hide or run, they charge and attack. It doesnt suprise me to see one coming after a human thats invading what he thinks is his personal space
Fantastic video! Some of these birds are shy and aloof and then some of them are very friendly. Here is a video of a friendly one in the process of molting from winter to breeding plumage.
They are not ducks they are divers (thats what we call them in Europe- specifically Great-northern Diver) but over there they call this species the common loon. They are TOTALLY unrelated to ducks. Great footage.

Yup, have dove there quite a few times since. I often see loons but nothing quite as up close and personal as before.
