  • no matter what they always have a smile on their faces and start working from scratch again <3

  • It seems that fishermen particularly suffer badly from these seasonal disasters. Sidr, Nargis and Aila appear to be the worst in recent years and its happening every year.

  • VERY true Culvave - very true :(

  • UnculturedProject- Thankyou, and thankyou for posting this. May I ask are you are a reporter?

  • Not really - though I do have my account set as "reporter" on YouTube. That may not count though :)

  • UnculturedProject- Thanks. The reason I ask is because you seem professional. Is it something you would like to pursue?

I had hoped to be a reporter but it didn't quite work out.

By the way, do you know has Cyclone Aila got as far inland as Sidr? Although many are feared missing, it has received very little coverage here (compared to Sidr)

  • I'm open to all possibilities - but right now, I'd like to keep working on this project if I can. Also, you should check my video where I talk about Cyclone Aila. I also have footage where I go and help on my second channel (TheStudent).

  • Thanks- Is that the poverty video featured on the 'UnculturedProject' page? you have a lot of videos!

    Cheers

  • i think whts great about you itfact tht u never forgot about your placeu coming from and care about urown people tht really nobel from you i think if al welthy asians living inUs or europe will do it same mny things can chnge ther for better...... i tht ty the way to sole poverty andstarvation great job mate carry on

  • search-HAARP

  • Bro, i don't know who you are but i want to say that what things you are doing that is inspiring for us. Thank you very much really from my heart. Please keep it up.

  • @nonichor - charity begins by recognizing there is no such thing as Irani, Greek, Spanish, Italian, Russian - only human. It doesn't matter what I "should" be speaking - what matters is what I do.

The fact that many Bengalis in foreign countries focus on my LANGUAGE ability instead of the glaring poverty and suffering here shows a lack of proper priorities.

  • Don't mistake a lack of financial ability for a lack of priority. And, respectfully, you're math is wrong. With a population of 150 million people of which 80% earn less than $2 a day, there are more people in Bangladesh who are poor than are people in ALL of Sudan and ALL of Burma.

I've seen too much suffering and death by Cyclone Sidr alone to give a damn about what language you deem I should speak in. If you have a problem - stop watching.

  • Buddy, are you in a mass poverty elimination program of some sort or responsing to a sudden humanitarian crisis? Not all 150 million ppl were affected and those who earn even $20 a day were also among the victims. We don't need math but little logic (besides good heart, which you have no doubt about it). Just wondering what caused my irrelevant 'language' issue suddenly feels like a salt on a wound while concerned with suffering. Being a hero here, You could have easily ignored me instead.

  • You're didn't strike me as a hateful person. If you were a racist, bigot, etc I probably would have blocked or ignored you.

It's just been frustrating at times the response I get from the Bengali community (both within country and outside). Some are super rich and refuse to admit Bangladesh is a poor country with people suffering under poverty. Some accuse anyone who helps the poor of corruption. And, in your case, you're mistakenly accusing me of ignoring some imaginary obligation of language

  • Pls Note that I justified your use of international language in this particular event. I admit language is irrelevant here. Your frustration regarding the ill-responses is genuine - I have faced the same. But, I had my frustration too - about expatriots ignoring their mother tongue completely. May be I put it in a wrong context. Wouldn't it be great if you would understand the words of gratitude, in addition to reading those grateful eyes of the people you helped? Its a personal choice though.

  • I definitely wish I knew the language better because that way I could better communicate with those who I'm helping.

If you look at some of my other videos you can see that I'm trying to learn Bengali as I go along in this project...

  • FUKIN ELL!!! WTFS U PROBLEM!!! derz always 1 ent der...de hater, ignorant cowardly bastard hu sits behind a scree, duz nothing, and always find some sort of issue 2 hold up in order 2 cause a argument or debate of some sort which is totally uneccassary esp on a issue like this, u do nuffin so y can u not "at the least" just sit bak and watch this mans great efforts in wat he duz, instead u av 2 rant on abou something which is so totally ridiculous!!! FUKIN JUS SHUT UP U CUNT!!!

  • wow jus becoz e cannot speak a language 2 the highest of status u av 2 comment... its sum1 own choice wat and ow dey wanna speak, maybe e was not brought in a bengali speaking home, or maybe jus 4 personal reason chose not 2 learn it... but dat means nuffin...race, colour, nationality, creed, language, shape, etc means nuffin.... can u not see wat a person e is just from his works? fukin av pissed me off.... prob sum lazy fat bastard sittin at hme eatin doin fuk all 4 ne1 nor himself!!!

  • Personally I know a lot of second generation immigrants who do not speak their native language. I do not believe that Bengali immigrants are the 'only exception.' I am not saying that it is good that they don't learn it. I think that they should. But there are many reasons why a child might not learn their parents' language. You shouldn't judge people for that.

  • well done bro...at least you r trying to do something rather than people like us who does nothing but criticise...now another one is about to hit called "NARGIS". hope that doesnt come strong..keep up your good work

  • yeah I fear Nargis would undo all the work I've done here :(

  • UnculturedProject- Ive just seen these comments. Quite poignant now that we know the massive scale of Nargis.

  • i love how people always stand behind you while your talking. its kinda funny

  • Watching this makes most of the every day "problems" I have look like trivialities. To say it's humbling is a great understatement.

  • Excellent job! You are drawing attention to people who might have gone unnoticed. Speaking for those who might otherwise not be heard is a great thing to do! Keep up the good work!

  • "Please thank you for watching!"

  • yeah, pretty fucking funny. he's not the best speaker, but that's an awesome cause. wish i was able to be involved right now..

  • LOL - I didn't notice that. I might have picked that saying up somewhere. I'm sure I've heard a few people say "please thank you" in Bangladesh.

  • i agree!

i thank you soo much for what u did!

it surly made a difference in these victims lives.

  • Keep it up man! :) You give ppl hope! :)

  • my friend's cousin died from the cyclone. best wishes

  • see this is something like i want to do when i get older and stuff

  • Why older? How old do you think this guy is?

  • Well, it would be rather difficult to do something like this when still in High School. . .

    This project is so inspiring!
