Of course, some of there veteran group members will have ,more than likely, been in a number of other groups throughout their history. So, maybe other group recordings you have them singing etc.....
Remember when I was going thru my teenage angst years And this was one those songs we heard over and over again just love to go back thank you stylistics for the great memories.
As the years go by, I find myself rediscovering music that I once scoffed at, as being not for me..... I think we all could learn that music is universal and not directed at one group or ....
can only say pure magic i loved these guys as a young wipper snapper and i miss this era and music . such a simple humble world . Motown isnt just music Motown is a life force an entity a beautiful soul.
@rblauson - This is Russell Thompkins but not the rest of the original group. Thompkins left the group years ago to strike out on his own. The original group members still tour as the Stylistics with a new lead singer. Thompkins tours with this group,"Russell Thompkins and The New Stylistics". Actually, they both sound wonderful- how couldn't they- what with the incredible music written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed- the creators of "The Sound of Philadelphia".
@rickw1100 -- So there are two Stylistics? Sounds funny! It's like Mick Jaeger lefting the Rolling Stones for good and creating a NEW ROLLING STONES! Any possibility of the original members of the Stylçistcs getting together again?i-- (GILBERTO SAUGEN from Brazil)
@gsaugen - A great point !- Actually, the group suffered a devastating blow when Thom Bell stopped producing them in 1974. Every single produced by Bell was a top ten R & B hit- five of those were top ten Pop hits. Their 1972 hit " You Make Me Feel Brand New" was their biggest hit, staying at # 2 for two weeks and was one of five gold records recorded by them in the U.S. All produced by Bell, who created everything around Thompkin's lead vocals. A reunion ? I doubt it due to health issues.
@gsaugen -The Original Stylistics were Russell Thompkins, Airrion Love, Herbie Murrell, James Smith, and James Dunn. Both Smith and Dunn left the group in 1980 over the direction the group was going in. Neither is a member of the current groups. A reunion of all the original members is not likely. Most hardcore fans would consider the group's "sound" to be synonomous with Thompkins lead - the voice at the center of their greatest hits. Where Thompkins is- there is the heart of their sound.
