Even though he's one of my favorite artists, and this is one of my favorite tracks, I know what you mean.

I don't see the appeal. I tried to give all these tracks a listen and am left with the same feeling on all........Blandness.

Limited musical score combined with poor vocals makes for what is IMO a poorer song. Not my style, but I'm hard to please.
