I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree!
I restored mine back in the day and expect to open your wallet and watch the money fly out of it. Victoria British was more than willing to take mine. lol!
bravo on your video... it's like an art film :--) i had a 71 that i bought new. drove it everywhere as my only car. that's funny because now i'd never even fit in it at 6'1 and 350 pounds. i had a different exhaust and it sounded fabulous. also, i drove it everywhere in the winter. i had studded snow tires and aside from being a little loud it went like a jeep :--) i used to get waxed by the opel GT's but i like it a lot. unfortunately it went with the wife in a divorce :--(
Thanks, operacaster.... my wife bought this car in '69, drove it as her car 'til the two babies came, then it didn't seem right to toss them in the back any more, she got a buick and I got the '6. I'm about to take it to the shop for some repairs.... horn, turn sigs, so I can drive it to work and back... folks stop and stare when they see it.. it's definitely unique.... luck to you.
Thanks, I wish I could keep it indoors... I had it garaged for years, then later I drove it to work and parked it inside. I've driven it for 32 years and will continue to do so. I'm also slowly restoring, but so far, it's all brakes, front seal, bits and pieces. My dream is to drive it cross country, on blue hiways.
I miss my 68....best GT-6 I ever had. I still have the engine after selling it 20+ years ago. But...if I fixed something...tach cable, then the heater switch would break. Better to leave something broken for a long time! Thanks for the memories......I'm still sorry I sold it.
Hi Fitzer, loved the sound of yr GT6, I live in the Czech Republic, but when I was living in New Zealand I had a Triumph 2000 saloon, which is a big four door car with the same engine as yr car, I just love the sound of that silky smooth six cylinder engine!!
Hey uzzle65.... You're soooo right, there is no sound like it! That's one thing I've loved about it for the last 38 years... and the whine of the transmission.. I always tell people ....."it runs like a sewing machine!"
some day I want to restore it.... after we finish paying for our daughter's college education!
Hey, thanks!... I want to get a better recording, I really love the '6 exhaust tone. I loved your video... TWO Triumphs?!! Wow... and they're in beautiful condition. I hope to restore mine fully after the mortgage is paid off. Are you in England?
sooooo it's about time to start driving the '6 in Chi-town, isn't it? I grew up 100 miles north, in Wisconsin.... drove a Sunbeam Alpine.... not fun in winter.
Also a GT6, Mk1 '67. And yep the country roads are great here. Shame the weather is so bad, mine's fared pretty badly by leaving it unstarted over winter, MUST drive it through next winter, salted roads or not!
Wonderful!... sometimes the winter weather here in Atlanta, Ga. is quite mild, and I can crank her up, but driving in the rain is never good, the biggest problem is that the windscreen fogs up and the defroster can't keep up.
When are you going to put some video up on her?... I'd love to see it.
Apparently there are a lot of folks who love the GT6, but they're quite rare in the states, I believe.
Alfred Hitchcock owns a GT6? Cool.

How could you leave a car of this beauty in this condition. Give it to someone who can restore it if you are to poor to do so!!!

Gosh I wish that old girl could winter in a garage instead of out with the squirrels. But for being all original I suppose it is doing well.

@71TR6Guy I used to keep her in my studio with me, but now she sits outside. I'm hoping to give her another start soon.

@d65fitzer Right on. Good luck this year. :) Are you going to film it?

That car needs a total makeover, I wish the kids college loans were paid off, so I can start the process. It is sad to see it sitting.

Art. Love it. Now get it indoors to save the body and drive it hard every day you are alive. Your brain will thank you for it.
Cheers

Hi, sorry I did reply earlier but it had a web address in it and I guess it got deleted. I don't have any vids yet, but a few pictures.
Quite rare all over, but i think that more went to States than stayed in UK (dont quote me!)
