I think it's funny that people are trying to complain about this because he is "slapping" or whatever. Who cares how the sound is made, worry about how the sound SOUNDS. It also makes no sense when people try to defend the "slapping" by saying "well he can play normally too" but when someone like Buckethead comes along and absolutely dominates the field of "playing normally" people want to turn around and say shit like "well he is too technical".

@FOWBOWZ I have checked out ALL his stuff. I admit that he is creative with the guitar, but what he does as par example this slap guitar just isnt hard to play. I like some of his music he's just not a very good guitarist i have played seven years and are atleast as good as miyavi. I saw a video of him actually playing a real solo (not his slapping). Real jazzy sound, but very average.

Misleading title, not even close to a master. Like the comment below says, it's kind of impressive to watch for a short while, then it gets boring and I could never listen to this without the video.
This is a nice way to play but it is a bit boring when you listen it too much. Music is not just rhythm, melody is important too ^^. He is very good at rhythm guitar, but that is all in my opinion.
@Ugallardo Tribal music (African music for example) is mostly rhythm-only music but it sounds pretty good. Rhythm is the absolute basis of human music and it was the first kind of music discovered by humans. Our first instruments where a pair of rocks or wooden sticks wich we slamed against each other and after that came the drum. To my opinion rhythm alone is just as good as the whole set and miyavi rocks at rhythm. He's one of the few people who can truly rock on an acoustic guitar.
@soloboy1991 I said that Miyavi was "one of the few" wich means that he's not the only one but that such people are rare. Chuck Noris is also "one of the few".
@Ugallardo I believe theres a greater sense of appreciation for miyvis style of playing if your a musician. His technique is a very complicated one. It's really similar to slap-n-pop on a bass guitar. Pulling that off on a regular guitar(acoustic for that matter) is mind blowing. Also there is a melody, it' just not simple is all.

A lot more (Slash, Buckethead, Satriani, Vai etc) are better than him and although it is rare to find them playing accoustic guitar (except perhaps Buckethead)

Miyavi and Slash are entirely different from the music they play to their techniques they play and you and your friend must not know much about guitarist to have to name a commen one such as Slash which in my opinion even isn't the best guitar playing I personally dislike him and Guns n Roses they have never played a style I like. More to the point I do like Miyavi's style of playing on the guitar it's hard to play like that and keep on rythm I know many of guitarist that still have trouble.

wow WTF seriously (gets ready for crazy and crying fangirls) I've read a lot of comments like "OMG he's the best guitar player in the world". I know he's great but he's not "the best in the world". A lot more (Slash, Buckethead, Satriani, Vai etc) are better than him and although it is rare to find them playing accoustic guitar (except perhaps Buckethead)
I'm not saying that he sucks because he doesn't, he's really good and his style is great, but calling him the best is exaggerating a lot

hes definatly one of the coolest guys ive seen and a very very talented guitar player...although to be honest he cant compete with the best of the best. Yet, I mean I really dont mind what people do with themselfs and I know that beauty lies in the eye of the observer but I was asking myself when did this "woman look" style came up in japan. Its not my taste so maybe im blind for that style, but I wonder how this came up...and why guys do it? Are they gay? I have absolutly nothin against gays!

Miyavi and Slash are entirely different from the music they play to their techniques they play and you and your friend must not know much about guitarist to have to name a commen one such as Slash which in my opinion even isn't the best guitar playing I personally dislike him and Guns n Roses they have never played a style I like. More to the point I do like Miyavi's style of playing on the guitar it's hard to play like that and keep on rythm I know many of guitarist that still have trouble.
