Using that scenario (which is already flawed, because they were in a 1 bdrm), a person on a strict budget would put their entire check into rent, 50 for utilities, 125 for food, 50 for transportation, 60 phone and internet, 30 for dog food, 100 for misc stuff.

But 750$ a pay check is like 12$/hr after taxes. 12$/hr is pretty decent where I live, so they wouldn't need anyone to help if it were the case.
