  • Thanks Josh - I wish I can get more of this wonderful music ! - You have great skill and talent

  • Hi. That is very nice playing, but he is actually playing in Open F#, not Open G as you state. In order to get Open G with the tuning he is using, which is C#-F#-C#-F#-A#-C#, he needs to put his capo in the first fret.

Some folks just say, 'This is Taro Patch tuning, with all the strings lowered 1/2 tone'.

  • Um, he's the guy playing. He would know.

  • That's right, Wiliama, it is true "slack key"--we don't get all technical like this, and you won't be reading about this stuff in books--use da ears!

  • @herongl2

It is definitely slack key, very nice slack key. But, sorry, it is in the Key of F#, not G. All keys aren't created equal. And, it really isn't 'all technical' at all. It is just that Open G or Taro Patch tuning has the strings tuned to D-G-D-G-B-D, and the strings in this piece are all tuned down one step, so it can't still be Open G. It ain't rocket science.

  • But he is the person in the video, so he would know what tuning it is. If he says that it's Taro Patch, and he doesn't have short term memory loss, then I'm pretty sure he's right.
