  • THUMBS UP FOR ALL TO SEE! do not watch this version! the most clear and complete cut of the film is here:

    watch?v=1eVtv1YyzOU&feature=related

  • I seen this in IMAX, getting it on bluray when available

  • @TrentonJoynson you honestly cannot appreciate this until youve seen it in 3d

  • @monteoner Well IMAX is almost the same. Ill have to buy a 3DTV especially for this movie. Thanks!

  • I love their hats.

  • That french director had great effects for that Time! Amazing and lovely movie

  • Best movie ever made! Much better than Pulp Fiction! Just kidding. This was not so very great, but it was good to be so old.

  • is the original dialogue/words for this film? have been assigned homework based on this film, and need to know...help please!!

  • I saw this in my Film class. This was awsome!

  • I don't understand why there's narration on this. Was it supposed to be spoken with the original, or was it added later?

  • This is the original narration created by George Melies. It was sad that he never made any monies on the film since Thomas Edison's staff secretly released the film. Melies became broke.

  • A great film to watch, on the day water was struck on the moon

  • wow.. that film is like 92 years older then me. COOL!

  • It is a pity what Edisons agents did to Georges Melies by stealing the film and airing it in America, him not getting a dime and dying broke like he did. Still an epic video which embodies our basic need to explore and go further than before.

  • @danschaoticmind yeah, edison was a total dick with a propaganda machine working for him. stole a lot of other people's ideas... he was no nicola tesla. funny how people still believe him to have invented so much. i read a book about the death penalty awhile back where edison electricuted horses trying to invent a killing device. big proponent of electrecuting people so he could make an extra buck.

  • eh, what comes around goes around. Warner Brothers were Jewish thieves that stole Edison's film projector, ran out west, and made lots of money. To think Warner Brothers was started by a couple punk ass bitches. I hate thieves....

  • The first true sci-fi film in history, a must see for every film lovers like me.

  • 4:21 "Well cheerio! Ill just hop on this bullet and be shot at the moon" Wait, I just realized something, We did the exact same thing today!!!!!

    -_-

  • Ms. Pratt I know you're there!!!!

  • lol wut

  • WRONG! The Furry version of anything is NEVER better.

    Why?

    Furry

    Nuff said.

    Wheres my flamethrower anyways?

  • This is old film is kinda fun to watch. This is 106 year old film. Its well preserve.

  • Yes i do agree with that. It is interesting to watch.

  • What, you don't remember when the French lodged a rocket in the moon's eye?

  • ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG

  • Yeesh. this is one of the earliest examples of editing film to tell a story. George Melies was cutting edge.

  • You're obviously a phiistine. Go watch the new Spiderman movie. Moron.

  • Hey, Cinematic icons like Jack Black and Adam Sandler wouldn't have careers if it hadn't been for movies like this at the very beginning...

  • Brilliant!

  • immigative scifi film, impressive special effects seen this movie on line a few times!

  • The World's FIRST FX movie!!

  • Great work posting this, thank you. Its a timeless classic.

  • This isn't the Smashing Pumpkins video.

I'm glad I've found this post, it really is from such a diffrent era, I love watching movies from the early 1900's. It kinda of takes you away.

  • the smashing pumpkins did make a video based off of this movie.

  • If you look at the video for Tonight Tonight by The Smashing Pumpkins, the steamboat that picks them up at the end is called the S.S. Méliès ^_^

  • @lloplop also Queen took some pieces for his "Heaven For Everyone" videoclip

  • Wait till Peter Jackson remakes it with CGI and calls it "better"

  • Hahaha, I lol'd

  • what a great movie!
