This is the original narration created by George Melies. It was sad that he never made any monies on the film since Thomas Edison's staff secretly released the film. Melies became broke.
It is a pity what Edisons agents did to Georges Melies by stealing the film and airing it in America, him not getting a dime and dying broke like he did. Still an epic video which embodies our basic need to explore and go further than before.
@danschaoticmind yeah, edison was a total dick with a propaganda machine working for him. stole a lot of other people's ideas... he was no nicola tesla. funny how people still believe him to have invented so much. i read a book about the death penalty awhile back where edison electricuted horses trying to invent a killing device. big proponent of electrecuting people so he could make an extra buck.
eh, what comes around goes around. Warner Brothers were Jewish thieves that stole Edison's film projector, ran out west, and made lots of money. To think Warner Brothers was started by a couple punk ass bitches. I hate thieves....
THUMBS UP FOR ALL TO SEE! do not watch this version! the most clear and complete cut of the film is here:

I don't understand why there's narration on this. Was it supposed to be spoken with the original, or was it added later?

I'm glad I've found this post, it really is from such a diffrent era, I love watching movies from the early 1900's. It kinda of takes you away.

If you look at the video for Tonight Tonight by The Smashing Pumpkins, the steamboat that picks them up at the end is called the S.S. Méliès ^_^
