Well, she loved Aminah alot. The Dutch were a bit cruel to take her away from Aminah. They could have let her visit Aminah sometimes or SOMETHING. Aminah could have dumped her, but she took care of Maria.

maria/natrah came to kemaman a few years before her death. kamariah her adopted sister was a japanese, bedridden at that time due to old age. maria & husband spoke malay, natrah remembered her friends & family.

she seemed suprised seeing us, living an easy life.

as for the marriage, those days , girls were married at 12,13,14 like my mum. natrah was fond of her teacher mansoor,a good handsome man and of course mak minah and family obliged , consented her wish.

I know her relatives here in Kemaman, no, I don't know her personally..I came to know about her when i was small, around 8,10 yrs old when I heard my neighbours talked about her. And then I came to know the story again when I read Dewan masyarakat in 1989 where they published her story in series. That time nadra was in the US working as a cleaner and the reporter tracked her to her place in Nevada if I'm not mistaken. I cried for her...
