Action Essentials 2 Car Explosion

Let me guess: 2 different flame videos. One smoke video. Some camera shake, and three different glass "shot" videos, scaled down and set to "screen" (or, since it's AE2, they were already cut out)

Hey I'm not asking for a tutorial but just an overview, to make a convincing car explosion.

You put an explosion, camera shake, and secondary fire right?

@asterix645 yes shakes are pretty important but not too much. make sure you play with the explosion transparency a little bit like overlay, multiply, screen etc. and duplicate the explosion to make the entire scene look realistic and change its transparency to add

until the explosion gets big, it looks real. There isn't enough of a transition and the explosion just doesn't blend with the environment.

Thats really pretty good man. Nice motion tracking. my only comment would be that the fire seems to blow to the right but the smoke goes straight up. may just help to make it that bit more realistic. I like it how you did the gunshots first to give reason for the car to blow up. nice work dude. keep it up. You might wanna look at my video of an explosion for some handy hints.

this is pretty good actually, considering a lot of stuff that is on youtube!

My only gripe (and this is constructive) is that the fire blows to the right, suggesting wind, but the smoke billows vertically. It doesnt have to blow at the same angle as the fire, but a little bit of an angle on the smoke may make it seem a little more natural. Other than that nitpicky and not very important thing, the compositing is very good!!

So if i tell you that your explosion dosn't look real. Then i ofc tell you why so u can change that in ya next explosion.

Hi looks great I have uploaded a test as well. I just droped the fx on the clip but it doesnt bring the blacks along as well? I see you have the darkness of the explosion as well and i dont? Any idea why?

I have the darkness of the explosion because i have the dark smoke behind it [ put the smoke on the normal transparency].....try putting the smoke behind the actual explosion and change the transparency of the explosion to add...hope this helps....
