Basically if you are predisposed to mental disorders such as schizophrenia or dystonia, you might try marijuana and really enjoy the benefits of cannabidiol. It helps them think straight and they might feel more normal "high". They start self medicating regularly. If a doctor steps in he will tell them to stop smoking pot, and puts them on pills. Once they have negative reactions to these pills the doctor will typically scapegoat the pot and say it was the reason behind the psychosis.

And i only know 3 schizophrenics, one of whom has never tried marijuana. And If marijuana is so mentally disabling, why is it that most of the people i know who do not smoke, more frequently seem to be in a bad mood. And also never seem to have anything new to talk about, and are always less informed?

@surferlivh Causation and correlation are two different things. For instance; a study shows that coffee drinkers have a 20% increased risk of developing lung cancer. There is a correlation then between coffee drinking and lung cancer, however, there is no causation because it is found that coffee drinkers are more likely to smoke cigarettes.  Only a rough correlation has been found between cannabis use and schizophrenia. No causation has been established. Many exogenous factors are involved.

You must understand the difference between a primary and secondary metabolite. THC is a secondary metabolite.

Also, You must understand a little about the monoamine oxidase system. This prevents simple chemicals from being psychoactive. Otherwise you would eat some common fruits and vegetables and you would trip.
