Blood is the symbol for life in the Bible, but when the actual life of an individual is at stake does God require we uphold the "symbol" of blood over the actual life? is the symbol more important then that which the symbol represents?

What I was saying was that blood is not a nutrient property by itself which can act as food for the stomach. In order for you to be eating something that means it is obviously gonna come back out. Drink or eat blood, and it well eventually come out. However, a blood transfusion does not work like that.

Funny thing is the society is happy to condone you using plasma which is made out of cells from blood...Blood plasma is the yellow liquid component of blood in which the blood cells in whole blood are normally suspended. It makes up about 55% of the total blood volume. So as far as I am concerned I would have to believe that the society has stocks in plasma!

I think trying to apply that verse to blood transfusions is definitely taking it to far and out of context. Jesus was talking about losing our souls for the sake of following Him, not on whether or not you are willing to take a blood transfusion.

Also in alot of cases concerning blood transfusions, it is often a close relative or friend that makes sure they get the transfusion not the one in need of the transfusion themselves.

I agree with you, I was born into the JWs and I have given blood once. Its a personal thing I did between me a Jehovah. Our bodies always regenerate blood, and yet satan doesn't tempt anyone with transfusions. Eating blood demonic. When I was born I was very sick and I needed a blood transfusion. My parents were JW's, and the church tried to convince my Parent's to let me die rather than have me have a blood transfusion. My Grand Parents were right there ready to have a custody battle if that was to have happened, but that never did happen. My parents did the right thing and I did have the transfusion, and right after this event they left the JW's. It's not that JW's are bad people. Theyre just weak minded and vulnerable

I always thought the issue of blood was disturbing. I remember how terrified i was those evenings we would sit at the kingdom hall filling in the blood cards. I intentionally did not carry my blood card with me. I don't think the giverning body will ever change this principle as they will have blood on their hands.

Thanks for your concern but I have family that are in the medical field (doctors, nurses, paramedics etc) and I'm aware of various procedures. What's your take on "current theory"? It's completely legal for the friends but it IS a small WHOLE BLOOD transfusion...we're not talking fractions here.

The Bulgarian witnesses DO NOT get d'fed for getting blood transfusions because of a Watchtower agreement with the European Council. So we have in all other countries the fact that JW's have to either die for rejecting a blood transfusion or get d'fed for taking one.

True, but some of them try to stick with the rules of not bringing reproach on Jehovah's name, and not making the org look bad because it will turn people away, so they can lie and say blood transfusions aren't banned. The no blood ruling came from the Nathan Knorr era in 1945, Now every GB since then has had to maintain it both for consistency and out fear of lawsuits.

The bloodstream feeds nutrients to the body. The bloodstream does not feed blood to the body. There is a huge difference.

Right on for giving blood! I am planning on doing so next month. I had to stop for a while because my iron levels were low. They are back up now and I am ready!
I won't take any blood regardless of any changes. It is my personal choice to God. I don't need to risk doing something that could be wrong. You guys say it's fine and yet millions believe it isn't, even some non JWs believe it is wrong. If it is fine, then I didn't do anything wrong regardless. Better safe than sorry.

It is not the actual blood cell. As you should know, the blood is a composite of a few fluids.
Interestingly JW's can now use up to 97% of the blood cell, and still call it "abstaining" from blood.

What I was saying was that blood is not a nutrient property by itself which can act as food for the stomach. In order for you to be eating something that means it is obviously gonna come back out. Drink or eat blood, and it well eventually come out. However, a blood transfusion does not work like that.

Funny thing is the society is happy to condone you using plasma which is made out of cells from blood...Blood plasma is the yellow liquid component of blood in which the blood cells in whole blood are normally suspended. It makes up about 55% of the total blood volume. So as far as I am concerned I would have to believe that the society has stocks in plasma!

I think trying to apply that verse to blood transfusions is definitely taking it to far and out of context. Jesus was talking about losing our souls for the sake of following Him, not on whether or not you are willing to take a blood transfusion.

Also in alot of cases concerning blood transfusions, it is often a close relative or friend that makes sure they get the transfusion not the one in need of the transfusion themselves.

Our bodies always regenerate blood, and yet satan doesn't tempt anyone with transfusions. Eating blood demonic. When I was born I was very sick and I needed a blood transfusion. My parents were JW's, and the church tried to convince my Parent's to let me die rather than have me have a blood transfusion. My Grand Parents were right there ready to have a custody battle if that was to have happened, but that never did happen. My parents did the right thing and I did have the transfusion, and right after this event they left the JW's. It's not that JW's are bad people. Theyre just weak minded and vulnerable

I always thought the issue of blood was disturbing. I remember how terrified i was those evenings we would sit at the kingdom hall filling in the blood cards. I intentionally did not carry my blood card with me. I don't think the giverning body will ever change this principle as they will have blood on their hands.

ACTS 15: 28, 29 Clearly forbids the intake of blood, we do not see anywhere in the Bible to say blood should not leave our body but it is the transfusion that will bring the greater sin.

Thanks for your concern but I have family that are in the medical field (doctors, nurses, paramedics etc) and I'm aware of various procedures. What's your take on "current theory"? It's completely legal for the friends but it IS a small WHOLE BLOOD transfusion...we're not talking fractions here.

The Bulgarian witnesses DO NOT get d'fed for getting blood transfusions because of a Watchtower agreement with the European Council. So we have in all other countries the fact that JW's have to either die for rejecting a blood transfusion or get d'fed for taking one.

True, but some of them try to stick with the rules of not bringing reproach on Jehovah's name, and not making the org look bad because it will turn people away, so they can lie and say blood transfusions aren't banned. Like that one guy who said a JW lied to him and told him that the org gave to charity, later finding out the JW considered the WT org a charity.

To my brother and sisters please caution yourself on how we let people effect our behavior. It's so easy I know to let some people provoke us into saying something later we are sorry for. The no blood ruling came from the Nathan Knorr era in 1945, Now every GB since then has had to maintain it both for consistency and out fear of lawsuits.
Something Jw's should be aware of, Is that in countries like Bulgaria Jw's can get a transfusion without the threat of being Df's, Since the government threatened to ban the organization if they didn't amend that little policy.

In Total Parenteral Nutrition, since the catheter is inserted into a vein and not the stomach, blood injected into the bl;oodstream this way is not "eaten" or "digested". The bloodstream doesn't treat blood like food and digest it, the injected (transfused) blood stays in the bloodstream and helps transport the food (nutrients) to the body. The bloodstream feeds nutrients to the body. The bloodstream does not feed blood to the body. There is a huge difference.

Have you ever researched how many nursing mothers see blood in their breastmilk and doctors say to continue nursing? Should they not feed their baby and let it go hungry to obey God? Or have you heard about monochorionic twins that share the same bloodstream in the womb? Why would Jehovah allow these things if it goes against his law to "abstain from blood"? Also white blood cells are forbidden by the WTS, but breastmilk is full of them.....

I won't take any blood regardless of any changes. It is my personal choice to God. I don't need to risk doing something that could be wrong. You guys say it's fine and yet millions believe it isn't, even some non JWs believe it is wrong. If it is fine, then I didn't do anything wrong regardless. Better safe than sorry.
