Reminds me slightly of Daniel De Rossi's goal against my team (Manchester United) in the Champions League 2007 Quarter-final 2nd leg. the 7-1 game.. i think it was similar.
@lela04 He played in Germany for a year in Zwickau. He is good but he is not great. He has scored a great goal here and there but he just isn't good enough overall to cope with europes top players such as Ronaldo, Lampard, Ballack, Oezil etc. He had no success in Germany so he came back to MLS.
@LSBonnPower would you say the same about Pele since he never played in Europe and spent a some of his career in MLS? I suppose Pele is "good but he is not great"?
I'm not comparing De Rosario to Pele - just pointing out your argument is weak.
@darich67 Im not saying he is a bad player. Pele played in the 60's were the rules were a little different. You were not allowed to play in a leaque outside your country. This was changed in the 70's and thats why pele was able to go to the MLS for the last 2 years or so. Pele is great but not perfect. No ones perfect. De Rosario was in Germany for 1 year but he couldn't work himself up to the big clubs. He wasn't good enough so he game back to MLS. Thats the fact.
@darich67 It depents which leaque you're in when you play in europe. You can be an alright player and play in europe. But you'd be playing the 3rd or 4th leaque. De Rosario played in Zwickau which is 3rd leaque or something like that. You won't get famous or noticed when playing in a low leaque like that in europe. However, in the MLS he is in the top leaque. He tried his luck in Germany but he couldn't pull it off. Thats why he came back here where he is one of the best.
@LSBonnPower he's good enough that celtic wanted him. i think ddr would have had a great career in a european top flight league had he stuck with it. maybe not a star, but a solid player for sure
Not a big fan of the MLS....grew up outside the U.S, so watching MLS to me is like an American watching European basketball when the NBA is there. However, everytime I've seen this De Rosario play, I've been completely impressed. Seriously, this guy should be making waves in Europe....the quality of players around him in the MLS is not up to par, and I can only imagine how much better he would perform with quality players around him.
got to love dero. his father coached my under 14 Team. for a year. tough man, dero is a great player. but i gues it doesn't run in the blood, because his cousin plays CesL which is really.. bad.

Hey im not knocking the players for taking bigger pay days. Im not really knocking the english teams for buying their contracts. All im saying is to the people that say the MLS is shit, they are wrong. No its not the CL but there are teams in MLS that can compete in the CL. I dont think they could win it, but they could be respectable
For people saying this caliber of goal gets scored all the time in the Premiership, give your heads a shake. Go on and find me some full volleys into the top corner of the net like this from that distance and post them. If Gerrard had scored this it would be in every Liverpool highlight reel for the next ten years. I'm not saying it never happens, I'm saying fucking appreciate it.
dayummmmm rite!! Those EPL trash fans think their league is like on another planet. If the MLS is so sucky quit making so many offers to our top players and keep your asses out of our stadiums evaluating them

There has definetely been great progression in the MLS as far as quality is concerned. Still, hypothetically.. I can't see any MLS team standing a chance if they were to compete in the CL or even the UEFA Cup. Look at the CL this year... all 4 semifinalists were english teams, that is not a fluke.
@Jimmybangkok Amir Zaki scored a similar goal for Wigan a few years ago. Most people won't remember it, the only reason I do is because it was against Liverpool. That was a nice striker from De Rosario, but to get Goal of the Year I'd expect a long-range strike out of nothing or a wonderful team goal. That was a brilliantly struck volley but it was a decent chance of a goal anyway
