@lela04 He played in Germany for a year in Zwickau. He is good but he is not great. He has scored a great goal here and there but he just isn't good enough overall to cope with europes top players such as Ronaldo, Lampard, Ballack, Oezil etc. He had no success in Germany so he came back to MLS.

This was changed in the 70's and thats why pele was able to go to the MLS for the last 2 years or so. Pele is great but not perfect. No ones perfect. De Rosario was in Germany for 1 year but he couldn't work himself up to the big clubs. He wasn't good enough so he game back to MLS. Thats the fact.

De Rosario played in Zwickau which is 3rd leaque or something like that. You won't get famous or noticed when playing in a low leaque like that in europe. However, in the MLS he is in the top leaque. He tried his luck in Germany but he couldn't pull it off. Thats why he came back here where he is one of the best.

However, everytime I've seen this De Rosario play, I've been completely impressed. Seriously, this guy should be making waves in Europe....the quality of players around him in the MLS is not up to par, and I can only imagine how much better he would perform with quality players around him.

There has definetely been great progression in the MLS as far as quality is concerned. Still, hypothetically.. I can't see any MLS team standing a chance if they were to compete in the CL or even the UEFA Cup. Look at the CL this year... all 4 semifinalists were english teams, that is not a fluke.

And no, those goals are far from commonplace. Sure they occur more frequently in the Premiership than MLS, but you could go a season without seeing one like that.
