hey... Do u know if there is any way I can set a button to use a skill anywhere, at anytime on the map?
I mean it will not be useful in battle or menu...
I want to create a spell that teleports my character whenever I press a pre-selected button while standing. The technique would be useful, but it would be available just after u get to at least level 50...
If you know a way of doing that through common events, please tell me!
I do not want to sound like a douche here but I probably will. I was reading in your annotations about how youtube creates lag. False. The video itself is laggy, probably due to conversion (maybe). I also read in there about you could have made things better but you have a life...I get so tired of hearing that same excuse. If you are making a game, make it to the best of your ability even if it takes longer. Don't slap things together and say "it would be better but I have a life."

No seriously though, you need to learn scripting or have someone else do it for you. They can be done with eventing too, but it requires more time than learning scripting would take.

@AaronsGame I learned scripting because I wanted to do something that had not yet been done in RPG Maker. I started by taking a couple tutorials, then taking up support for my favorite scripts. Once I had debugged those scripts for long enough, I had a pretty good understanding of how to program what I wanted. It was just programming the dream project after that.
@Deathbringer3557 By compare and by feedback....But I look back and I probably shouldnt have said that, I think thats best to just let others tell that I am a pro but when that comes to myself to just be modest instead, all I can say is ppl have things against those with confidence LOLz.
@Zorgo93 This video is over a year in age, I am an RPG maker pro now - you should check out my newer demos for this game, the maps are flawless in those - this video is only a demonstration of the menu which has also gotten better in the newer vids.
@CollapseDev Understandable that you would definitely improve over the course of a year, but you should refrain from the self-proclamation of being an "RPG maker pro" and saying that your maps are flawless.
Yeah the mapping was indeed not that great but when I look back to my frist maps on the Rm2k back in 2002 or something, haha they were horrible. nice to hear that u have increased your skills. Im just changing form 2k to XP and well it aint that easy as I thought since I have to learn ruby script (I dont like it to take scripts form other ppl for my game, I wanna do it all myself). I think im gonna do a short fun game for the start
@TheRexion Actually yeah well I didnt mention that their is a difference to me between a pro and a professional - professionals make money off what they do, I am a PRO in that I am an Expert about Game Forgery ...I do not ask for money on my channel including any of the tutorials I do, I do so for the Love of the Game and nobody who makes money with what they do can compete, I have far better Methods than Professional game companies anyway. Well They are mostly Images & Text - through the script as well, I learnt off other custom menus how to understand RUBY ( Particularly RGSS ) & when I did eventually I got the Idea.
The Goal I Often have or more like the moto is keep things simple because at the end of the day the goal is to make a good Illusion

Woa thats not easy, but not hard to display but hard to get that running....hmm I might be able to help but I think I can do that as one of the next tutorials but no promises in the next one or two - you will have to subscribe so you wont miss any hehe!
Im not sure if I answered you or not on that one but to do you would have to combine more scripts together - perhaps take a snapshot too of the play screen - there are menu scripts out there that might help you because Ive seen that in a custom menu.
I must say this is an impressive CMS, this rivals Moghunter, who is like a king at these scripts. Great job! Seems to take alot of effort to work it but worth it in my opinion. Nicely well done. Hm I'll be looking for your game sin the future more.

The menu has come a long way & the main menu is basically complete - Moghunter Is actually the guy that inspired me to make my menus once I saw how good his were I was further interested in pushing the limits with RPGXP. I really admit my scripting skills are much more limited than his but hey look what Ive don, I also value proper RUBY tutorials to further understand this hidden language....
Yeah I've tried to learn Ruby but to know avail. Could you suggest some places were to get started. Although I know I'm longways off from this, but simple things programmed into my game would be cool.
Well aside from the current & due tutorials, the best way is the way I started because RGSS tutorials are sparse at best or so, Trial & error is the way to go, I have a downloadable script, that is the simplest scripts get, so watch out for tutorial Number 6!
Tutorial Number 7 is where I explain what that script does in detail!
....Hehe - well what can I say - you dont make em - not really - you just open up RPG Maker & edit em - but If Your referring to understanding then you will have to watch the other tutorials in the series, if you do you will likely something!
Good Luck because you will need all you can get, although I dont know if luck applies in programming hehe. Having two battle systems is only difficult because of the programming - conforming to a language is almost always a bummer....
If you want - show me what you have done, the next few tutorials actually go in depth & I may even offer a free Custom Menu CMS sometime this year (2009)!

Although The Face Is From VX With Edited Hair You Are Right On That, I Made The Character You See Walking, I Took A Lot Of Resources & Imported Em For Show However They Arent Original So I Will Replace Em As I Can With My Own. But If You Have Seen My Other Tutorials You Would Know This Is XP.
Thats Actually A Good Question, I May Actually Make A Tutorial On That Soon Or At Some Point, But Stated Simply There Should Be Some Lines In The Script With This: If Object.x != 100 x + = 20 end
Basically This Is Saying If The Objects X
( Horizontal Path ) Is Not Equalling 100 Then Add 20 Each Time Until That Is 100, This Way You Get A Sliding Animation --- > Etc.... Normally Though Smoother Animations Have A X Or Y + = 2 - Etc.
put the script in your game. then you have to move all the pictures in your game as well. in the tester's game folder... or the demo i should say. i the game resources, graphics, pictures, all the files in there.
Sorry Dude, Im Glad You Like The Menu But As You Likely Do Not Know, Some Of The Scripts In This Game Are What I Learnt Off, Trial & Error Until Finally I Understood Enough To Compile My Own Scripts, I Spent So Much Effort On This Script That This Is Not One I Want To Release, At Least Not This One, However The Tutorials I Host Will Have One Eventually That Shows How To Make A Menu So Thats That - Maybe Not So Flashy Though, Eventually I Will Upload Scripts From Friends Too.

....The Names Of The Maps Is Easily Not Unique, However I Already Made Plans To Use Variables For The Map Names To Appear "As You Go" Instead Of One Popup Image Revealing All The Names; That Is Un - Original.

Be More Specific About Decorations, If You Mean You Only Use The Default RPG Maker Maps & Layout Then No But Remember To Change The Layout To Fit The Game, I Might Explain That Later In An Actual Video, Subscribe To Be Notified In Case You Havent.
But There Are Variations Between A Good Game & A Game That Looks Good, Good Ones Are The Best Because They Have A Long Or Good Storyline Or Both & Thats What You Want To Aim At, After All The Best Thing To Use Is A Bit Of Imagination.
Well Practice Around But Remember The Story Is What Hooks The Player & Good Gameplay, Originality Is A Must, Whatever You Do Dont Make A Fan Game Unless You Got Some Good Skills Because Criticism Is High On Them.

The World Map Is Incomplete In This Video - You Dont Get To Select Where You Go But You Get To Select Where You Have Been & Information About The Place Such As A Map & Enemies List Etc.

If You Mean How Did I Get The Pictures To Show Up When You Speak To The Characters - I Did That Using A Common Event & Events Together & Selected The Picture For The Character & If The Character Is A Civilian, Foe Or Ally - Pretty Easy Once You Get Into That, Also For The Font, This Can Be Changed In The Script - But You Know What, I Think I Will Start Making Tutorials Instead - They Will Be Easier To Understand.
You mastered menu screen scripts. Im a master @ Animations (mainly beams, i have 2 videos of them). I ve been trying to find out how to add a status screen in battle thats shows all status problems insted of just 2. Example:in battle Attack,Skills,Defend,"Status." It will show a window that shows all status problems. like a list.

Really good...But you still need some Mapping Skills, try using all whats on the Tileset...
At least that is my Technique.
And for the Shop...You could make it a little smaller...
Anyway it seems to be a nice work there, ill give you 5/5 stars :).

you know know how it you delete all the
"@playtime_window" in Scene_Menu then the playtime wont show... but the background is black.

Thats Actually A Good Question, I May Actually Make A Tutorial On That Soon Or At Some Point, But Stated Simply There Should Be Some Lines In The Script With This: If Object.x != 100 x + = 20 end
Basically This Is Saying If The Objects X
( Horizontal Path ) Is Not Equalling 100 Then Add 20 Each Time Until That Is 100, This Way You Get A Sliding Animation --- > Etc.... Normally Though Smoother Animations Have A X Or Y + = 2 - Etc.

I see what you are talking about but when I copy the script it keeps saying it needs this picture. when I drop the picture in the right place.

exuse my earlier comment, title is the correct folder. you need to put in all the pictures from that folder. not just "Back"

put the script in your game. then you have to move all the pictures in your game as well. in the tester's game folder... or the demo i should say. i the game resources, graphics, pictures, all the files in there.

Sorry Dude, Im Glad You Like The Menu But As You Likely Do Not Know, Some Of The Scripts In This Game Are What I Learnt Off, Trial & Error Until Finally I Understood Enough To Compile My Own Scripts, I Spent So Much Effort On This Script That This Is Not One I Want To Release, At Least Not This One, However The Tutorials I Host Will Have One Eventually That Shows How To Make A Menu So Thats That - Maybe Not So Flashy Though, Eventually I Will Upload Scripts From Friends Too.

Hahah, Remember This " Style " Ive Gotten A Lot Of Criticism From " Elder " Folks Who Think They A Proffessionals In English, They Say The Writing Is Informal & Hard To Read - But Mostly Hard To Read, I Write Like This Because I Think The Reverse Of What They Said, I Think The Writing Looks Beautiful & "this is informal", I Also Added Others Things Like " This " Instead Of "This", Etc. The Font I Use In The Game Is Algerian So You Wont See That.

that "Hasn't been done" HAS been done dumbass, It was made partly by Woratana (He made a prevous script that was helpful) and Kaimer696. All you did was change the Object/Variable 7 and the Menu i'm pretty sure was from TheMOG5 or something like that. That MOGHUNTER wannabe at the rpgmakervx forums

You Are Mistaken, The World Map Or "Variable" 7 Is Completely Mine, I Have Seen Numerous Menus In My Time, & My Menu Was Inspired By "Catchms" Script But That Script Was 6000 + Lines Long Which Wasnt Elegant Enough For Me, So I Made One That Was 600 Lines Long But I Understand That Something As Simple As Making An Image Appear With....

....The Names Of The Maps Is Easily Not Unique, However I Already Made Plans To Use Variables For The Map Names To Appear "As You Go" Instead Of One Popup Image Revealing All The Names; That Is Un - Original.
I Guess You Havent Seen My Other Tutorial Videos, I Wouldnt Need To Imitate Others Scripts - Thats Lame - & Mind Your Language, There Isnt A Need For Such Here.
& The Menu Displayed Here Is Partly Discontinued Because I Have Better Implements To Do & More Advanced Tutorials To Make.

Actually I Was Able To Get A Good Deal After Obtaining The Cash & Ive Been Making A Sort Of FFX Sphere Grid Using A Backup Which Only Really Affects One Script In My Game So I Will Be Continueing My Game & The Tutorials!

Be More Specific About Decorations, If You Mean You Only Use The Default RPG Maker Maps & Layout Then No But Remember To Change The Layout To Fit The Game, I Might Explain That Later In An Actual Video, Subscribe To Be Notified In Case You Havent.
But There Are Variations Between A Good Game & A Game That Looks Good, Good Ones Are The Best Because They Have A Long Or Good Storyline Or Both & Thats What You Want To Aim At, After All The Best Thing To Use Is A Bit Of Imagination.

Looks cool. Some of the Sound FX could be better though, like the one when you confirm an option, I mean it's good for the start of them game, but not for a menu.

Using A Filter In Image Ready 7 - Or Any Of The Adobe PS Programs.
The World Map Is Incomplete In This Video - You Dont Get To Select Where You Go But You Get To Select Where You Have Been & Information About The Place Such As A Map & Enemies List Etc.

If You Mean How Did I Get The Pictures To Show Up When You Speak To The Characters - I Did That Using A Common Event & Events Together & Selected The Picture For The Character & If The Character Is A Civilian, Foe Or Ally - Pretty Easy Once You Get Into That, Also For The Font, This Can Be Changed In The Script - But You Know What, I Think I Will Start Making Tutorials Instead - They Will Be Easier To Understand.

OutStanding work, i mean that's really awsome.
You mastered menu screen scripts. Im a master @ Animations (mainly beams, i have 2 videos of them). I ve been trying to find out how to add a status screen in battle thats shows all status problems insted of just 2. Example:in battle Attack,Skills,Defend,"Status." It will show a window that shows all status problems. like a list.
