My mk4 jetta, that's is a quarter of the price of an a3, gets 10 mpg better in town and on highway. I know this has to do with new emission laws but still, gotta give props to the older cars.
@iwtfsg your point is... ? this engine can run on bio diesel, hence why it says "clean diesel". by the way, i see a hell of a lot more american land yachts from the 70s here still on the road and running than i do european or japanese cars.
@gajda1984 so do they on this side of the pond!!!!!and audi doesn´t advertise them as "clean diesel" to say they also run on bio as well.....your pointless reply being?????problem is you Americans sometimes take that extra mile to understand things......
ah, and you can keep your fabulous all American land yachts for that matter
@iwtfsg we don't make "land yachts" anymore, in fact, we haven't made them since the late 70s. just everything looks like a landyacht compared to the gay go karts you drive in britain. just telling you how it is, older diesels CANNOT run on Bio diesel. so why not advertise it??? by the way, "americans" aren't a bunch of dumbass rednecks and gangbangers like you see on tv junior.
Seems like the Germans send you the a3 built in china on a farmers shed and charge you top whack for it!we get the proper stuff in Europe!all audi's here are known for their incredible fit and finish and above all quality materials....tough shit I say
I have a white 2011 A3 TDI S-line and have had it for about 8 months. Sadly, I must say that the car has had one problem after another. It has a bad, jerky DSG transmission, the glass roof rattles constantly, door seals are coming unglued, various electrical problems, and, all in all, just not a good level of fit and finish for the $40,000 price. I would NOT buy an A3 again.
@dunti21 Dunti - True, I have posted this negative comment about MY A3 on other A3 vids, but that isn't spamming. I don't think you get it: I paid $41,000 for a 2011 A3, and ended up with a car that is poorly built, with numerous problems. People who come to Youtube to look for info on the A3 have a right to know that there can be problems with these cars. At least I'm not trying to SELL anyone anything, which is what THIS video is doing. You need to step off and get some perspective, MAN.
I remember getting all excited for this car, because all I want is a diesel hatch with AWD and a manual gearbox. Then I found out this overpriced Golf only comes in auto and FWD... seriously audi... weak
@mitchkramah Isn't Quattro OR manual available in the US? hahaha. Poor bastards... Most yanks don't know how to change gears so I guess Audi thought it wasn't worth it...
I understand that diesel fuel is more expensive than petrol in the us, it's not the case here in europe, in fact it's a bit cheaper in my country. so I was wondering how big is the difference , like in dollars
While I don't find the front end to be the most attractive part of the car, the rest of the car is nice. And the idea of clean diesel technology is awesome! I hope to see more of these cars.
Sounds like a diesel engine, except that it isn't as noisy as you'd think a diesel engine would be. That's what I like, you want to tell that you're driving a diesel powered car, but you don't want it to be so noisy that it annoys the neighbours.

+ why do they have to advert the fact it's a clean diesel? Americans should already know they're not in the 70's anymore!

tdi is expensive enough alrdy, with AWD, you're looking at 37,000 thereabout for base.
no thank you. I take my chance with Mazda Minagi diesel, yes I'll take my chance with a concept.
I wish a3 was cheaper.

Do you get the Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7 diesels in America?
mihail2000 1 year ago
I still don't get what the problem is with diesel.
1. It only costs .20 cents more than regular gasoline.
2. However it is said you get an extra 15 miles per gallon.
3. That equates to $1.00 less than regular gasoline!!! ($1.75)
4. It is said to emit less CO2 than regular gasoline but contains more carbon molecules.
5. I don't see the other problems people are talking about.

My only question is is the clean diesel really as clean as they say it is?
Seattlecarnut 2 years ago
@Seattlecarnut yeah mate, its called a particulate filter, the geniuses in europe have been using it for years.
malbert34 1 year ago
@malbert34 I haven't seen any Audi diesel cars, not even an early Audi Diesel.
Seattlecarnut 1 year ago
@Seattlecarnut yeah i know, they weren't available in America before now.

@malbert34 I'm from Seattle, Washington. And I've yet to see any Audi diesel cars in this area.
Seattlecarnut 1 year ago
@malbert34 How about running the car on veggie oil. Shouldn't that be cleaner than even this so called clean diesel?
Seattlecarnut 1 year ago
@Seattlecarnut
Well, not really. It kinda ruins your engine after a while.

@malbert34 Really? How so?

If diesel fuel froze at those temps the trucking industry would not exist north of Oregon and yet it does.
grath1 2 years ago
How does it start in really cold weather?
PukkPukk 2 years ago
VW actually did a test of this and has a video somewhere of starting the diesel below freezing... cranks right up! No problem
SteveWhiteVWAudi 2 years ago 3
diesel fuel freezes at -22C /-10F. below that point it might need some work

no, it's just the lens.

@heel5man yes , but the human eye cant see it
Police271 1 year ago
@heel5man nah, it's the frame rate of the camera conflicting with the LED's. It's like pointing a video camera at a remote while using it.
