I don't care what anyone says about this kid, he is GOLDEN. Elitist is an amazing band and the music overall is phenomenal, but Rob makes this band in my opinion. Personally, I think that adding new flavor to a song you already know how to play by playing different fills for certain parts is a great way of spicing things up. So, big middle fingers up to all who try to downplay his talent just because he didn't play the same thing at a certain part.

He had no part in any of the writing of the music or the drums for that matter. Julian is the one who actually wrote all the music, including the drums. When Elitist recently went on tour this past January, this guy rejoined the band for the tour, and ended up bailing out after the first day. Weak.....

You didn't even mention Dream Theatre in your post, which had one of the best progressive drummers with Mike Portnoy, and still does with Mike Mangini. Not gonna lie and say that progressive drumming takes more thinking involved with it, with time signatures etc, but guys like Shannon Lucas can compete any day in terms of tightness with what they wright.

Basically my general point was that drummers like Robert from Elitist, Cameron from BoO, Mike from Dream Theater, etc. - They will always be better in terms of technicality and style over deathcore bands in my opinion. Progressive music is much harder to write for, and I've been through my stint of deathcore, it's not hard to do consistent blast beats and an occasional fill. But in progressive the drums often steal the show even over the guitars.

@Logantheburninator triggers allow your drums to make a different sound when you hit them. they are responsible for all the various drum sounds in an electric drumset and they can be used with a normal (acoustic) set to have a different desired sound.

@Logantheburninator people mistake them for making your feet go faster or whatever, its not true. Its a lttle hook sort of thing that clamps to the bass drum hoop and it picks up every little hit you make and you can then make that sound like anything in the mixer. Its a simpler way than micing and Hq'ing the bass.
