It was HARDLY a matter of the genesis 'keeping up' with the snes. The ONLY thing that the snes had over the Genesis is colors. But thats not even true anymore proven by a video here on youtube which PROVES the Genesis can display more than it supposed onscreen color limit. Before you start talking about one system graphically keepig up with another, you should do your research first..
Not quite. The SNES had more RAM, and hardware implemented scaling and rotation, in addition to a more robust audio system. And if it's the same video I'm thinking, I will concede that on rare occasions, the Genesis can surpass 64 colors in gameplay screens. That does not change its 512 color palette, however. The system admirably kept up with the SNES, all the same, and did some amazing things, but we must acknowledge its limits as well.
I wish it was this competitive again. It makes these game companies put all their effort into making the best games possible. Now its starting to become just gimmicky ideas. Personally I think the snes better because its top 10 library of games are some of the greatest of all time but the genesis definitely has tons of great games itself plus it doesn't hurt to have both.
The Sega Genesis is one of my all time favorite systems, but its hard to choose between the two. Awesome video man, def one of my favorite channels on youtube!
For the commercial comparison, I think I would have used the starwing (starfox, as it's called, here in the states) due to the sega reference. But, that just my opinion.
"Why go to the next level, when you can go light-years beyond?"
The I totally agree that of the two commercials you compared the Snes wins, but damn SEGA made some awesome commercials AND games with language and scenes that would be inappropriate for kids today :)
If anyone made a commercial hating on a competitor today they would get their asses sued! lol...
I myself are pretty torn when it comes to choosing between snes and Sega Megadrive/Genisis... But when it comes to mastersystem vs nes i would prefere Mastersystem!
Great video. your opinion was very well reasoned and thought out, which is more than most people can say. Persoanlly, I think that neither of the consoles "won" the war. they are both stellar systems with an incredible variety of title. I do find myself playing my ugly USA SNES more, but the MegaDrive holds a fond place in my heart as my first system. In the end, I declare Live and let Live for Sega and Nintendo, and I think that everybody should enjoy the best of what both systems have to offer
having the Model1 (which is way better looking imo and of higher spec) sitting ontop the model1 Megacd is a thing of beauty and would put the snes to shame (side-by-side).
I really like the look of the pal SNe though. great design. As far as controllers go the original wins hand- down for me.
Sega mascots a more badass and if you had Pulseman and Dynamite Headdy in there it would really 'hammer it home'.
Nice touch with the Guardian Heroes track
