@avalon20012 my son is in 2086, I am flying over from England on Tuesday for the graduation......I also use the Parris Island Forum and log in under the name of Pikeman
More College football players will make it in the NFL than a Navy personnel actually making it to a Navy SEALs team....and i'm not just talking about making it through BUDs...i'm talking about the whole training to actually become part of a SEAL team.
i hope you weren't really being serious. The only service component closest to the SEALs in the Marine Corps would be MARSOC. Even than i still don't think they are better than the SEALs. Granted i've never been through A&S for MARSOC, i'm still pretty sure BUDs training is a lot more intense than A&S. As for the Rangers being better than the SEALs, wut the fuck are you smokin? Lol you can "Die" in any training, including Boot camp/Basic Training. This is coming from a Marine.
Nah, marine are better than seals, and rangers are the better than everything, beeing a ranger is fucking scary.. you can die just in the school learning..
@TahNoobWord Marines are not better than SEALS by a long shot. SEAL training is far more comprehensive and difficult, and has a much higher wash out rate. your not gonna die in any training, if you pay attention and use the equipment right. as for the rangers being better, the Rangers could not do the job of Army SF or SEALs, & every unit is trained for different reasons. DELTA is more elite than any other unit in the military, having the highest wash out rate and being the most clandestine.
@Enputada Nerds make better Marines than a bunch of muscular guys that are dumb than a box of rocks (sorry for the crude joke). You do not have to be a buff muscular, tough guy to be a Marine. It is not about what you have in your body, its about what you have in your mind. Your mind is your only limit. I've seen nerdy woman kicking a man on roid's ass, trust me. Your mind and body is capabile of anything you tell it to do
@man11withaplan thats probly true.. they do get picked on alot in school... well maybe not now days.. so that thick skin is not there.. Jocks go thru something like bootcamp with training.. working out excercising in grueling heat and humidity.. truth be told.. its not the mind, or body... its the idividual who has the ability to tough it out, anyones ballgame.
@swimmingjag If you meet the physical requirements and have a job picked at your recruiting office, it's not uncommon to be shipped early. I had a friend who was above physical requirements and in pretty good shape, went infantry, got shipped out 2 weeks after signing up.
@VremGO I did not say that it could not change. My ship date was moved up by several months, but I was just saying that you cannot say that you want to leave on this date and then you actually leave on that date.
NOT the same thing. The Royal Marines are more like the Special forces here in the states. Marines are basic combat men/women. Royal Marines are elite. Can't compare.
because like I said, they are nothing like the USMC. They just share the name. Females are not allowed in the Royal Marines because they are more like the Special Forces or other US Special Ops units. (=
And last time i checked , royal marines didn't drop by parachute , did underseas missions , trained for national terrorist situations , wich are all things the SF do prepare for.
This is awesome! I am glad there are documentaries on the military like this. Congrats to all the ones who have made, going through it and are going to be shipped off in the future! Prior service:)
I need to practice my bearings, because right now I have an issue of smiling or laughing when nothing is funny. I have no idea why I do that. I dont want to end up like Pvt. Pyle and have to choke myself
@JizzTechCo Actually a lot of recruits have that. I have that. It's not like I think it's funny but it's like nervous laughter. And you are especially nervous when you have a DI in your face screaming that he hopes you die on the crucible or something like that. Oh yeah, and nobody wants to be a Pyle
Heh, I keep hearing about how the Warrior's Breakfast was supposed to be full of all these foods we couldn't have before, like steak and potatoes like he says here, but for ours we just got the same damn shit we'd been eating for 3 months. Still, we got an hour to eat as much of it as we wanted, and the DIs were chilling with us (which was really strange to us haha), so it was still very much worthwhile.
@rogan200139 Yeah, that's really what all the issues you're going to have is going to come down to. Is it a big enough deal for you to quit and go home and give it all up? If it is, then you don't deserve to be here. It's a simple, black-and-white deal, but it's going to be in the end what's going to get you the rough moments of boot camp, especially the Crucible.
@Firestorm2154 no i'm certainly not going to quit, i'm going to give it my all and just keep on reminding myself why choose to be there, i don't see quiting in option in life
@rogan200139 Ignore it... That is how i got over getting sent to the principles office when i was in the wrong spot at th ewrong time... Just ignore it and look it straight in the eye :D
Ready for battle, they strap their helmets on, lock and load, ready in seconds, off they go. Thank you my brothers and sisters I say, true Patriots, not Tom Brady, no way. Thanks for protecting our freedom everyday!! Stars and Bars the greatest country I say. Proud to be American, Marines all day, they never bend or back away. Ferocious in battle Semper Fi I say! God Blless our military, be safe ok. Come home safely to your love ones, I kneel & pray. God Bless our soldiers OOO Rah USMC way
When all of you going to boot camp get there, and finally get done with the crucible and get ready to go eat "warrior's breakfast", here is some advice from someone who has gone through it......DON'T eat too much because after you are done you will go back to the barracks and then the drill instructors will "play games" with you and will make you puke, lol. Trust me, I saw it happen to the other guys in my platoons that day. Oorah, semper fi.
I was laughing when they started crying. But I guess I would cry to if I went through that training and earned my EGA. That would be the best part of my life.

1) SAS are British SF with only 3 regiments. Do not compare them to an entire branch of AMERICAN warriors
2) It's SEAL not seal. Also a special forces branch, not a "fighting force" they have a very specific job
3) Army Ranger physical training and marksmanship qualifications are almost identical to the US Marine Corps. They are not any better than Marines, save for the fact that they are airborne, and get better equipment
@facas555 the SAS are better than usmc even the royal marines are batter than the usmc all im saying is jarhaed i know that its onliy a film but what dickhead shoots at there own ppl?
@facas555 Rangers are a special operations force like the SAS and SEALs. <_< Can't compare them to Marines. They are gonna be better but smaller. As in 200,000 compared to 2,000. MARSOC is basically equivalent to the Rangers. IIRC you need 30+ weeks total to become a Ranger compared to 13 weeks to become a Marine as you are a Marine just for completing boot camp but to be a Ranger you need to be in the Army's infantry, then go through jump school, and then do all the Ranger training.
My Dad is a Marine, Class of 1969. My only regret in life is that I did not follow in his footsteps. God bless all those who serve this country, in all it's forms, but God bless the Marines because they are a special breed.
About "where do you put your "EGA" Btw...for future reference its considered disrespectful to Abbreviate the eagle globe and Anchor...some marines will give you shit for doing it...just a warning.
Anyway the current uniforms the Marines are using the Eagle Globe and Anchor is stitched into the cover and blouse and found in micro form in a 3 mm size throughout the digi pattern.
On the "Alphas" (dress greens) one large one is wore on the Service cover (dress blue style but green) .
Im a future Marine, and my brother was a Marine also and he always says this " you dont know what sweat is until you join the Marines". 2013, cant wait!
Oh I remember my time at Marine Corps Recruit training, wasn't to terribly long ago. The Crucible was the most difficult part of Boot Camp. Just remember this all you Marine Corps hopefuls, once you finish Boot Camp you never have to do it again. It's your experience of Boot Camp, make the most out of it because you will remember your time on the Island for the rest of your life.
I will never forget the day I received my own Eagle, Globe, and Anchor.
this made me tear up and I am not even a Marine yet. still a recruit who is going to san diago in the beginning of 2010. Chose the USMC over the USAF.
@fightingfalconfan it doesn't matter what branch you are in sir...we all support our country in our own way...God Bless you as you go through your training...
I thank every damn one of you Marines, and other U.S. Service men/women, for serving this great nation and protecting our right to be free. Semper Fi!
I wish it was done just like this when I got done with the crucible. LMAO in my experience.. we got back to the rear, marched around the parade deck a few laps, got our tan belts, went back to the barracks (we were still recruits even after the crucible up until family day) we then went to chow for warrior's breakfast, and i remember some recruits were getting pitted and i remember how full I was and getting all anxious i'd get called into the pit too LOL
i graduated last week from 2nd Bn Echo Co. Plt 2064, i cried like a baby when i recieved my Eagle, Globe, and Anchor from the Drill Instructor that always pushed me the hardest, if you make it youll remember for the rest of your life. OOHRAH!!!!
Actually If they don't get you to Bleed, sweat and cry they feel as if there not pushing you hard enough. If you go you will do all three of those no doubt.

@facas555 mhmm what are u do u even serve
thisishiphop101 1 year ago
@facas555 Rangers are a special operations force like the SAS and SEALs. <_< Can't compare them to Marines. They are gonna be better but smaller. As in 200,000 compared to 2,000. MARSOC is basically equivalent to the Rangers. IIRC you need 30+ weeks total to become a Ranger compared to 13 weeks to become a Marine as you are a Marine just for completing boot camp but to be a Ranger you need to be in the Army's infantry, then go through jump school, and then do all the Ranger training.

If any of you want to become Marines one day or are already in the DEP, there is a web site for FUTURE MARINES that you all should read.
It has plenty of good honest info about the USMC and you can send your question in to an actual Marine who will answer them.
The link in on my profile page.

My Dad is a Marine, Class of 1969. My only regret in life is that I did not follow in his footsteps. God bless all those who serve this country, in all it's forms, but God bless the Marines because they are a special breed.

Did my 2nd comment not post? lol

2 dress alphas
1 garrison cover
1 dress blue cover
2 dress blue collars
1 tie clasp
1 dress blue belt buckle (issued one is plain brass(is or was)

About "where do you put your "EGA" Btw...for future reference its considered disrespectful to Abbreviate the eagle globe and Anchor...some marines will give you shit for doing it...just a warning.
Anyway the current uniforms the Marines are using the Eagle Globe and Anchor is stitched into the cover and blouse and found in micro form in a 3 mm size throughout the digi pattern.
On the "Alphas" (dress greens) one large one is wore on the Service cover (dress blue style but green) .

you get the EGA after you graduate, and on your cover, or on your hat, depending on what uniform you are wearing
