  • No respect for a Cal team that is afraid to play Cal State (Fresno). Pussies! About the only U that refuses to play State in thier respective state! Pussies, affraid of the little bullpups!

  • @ronpauleducates cal has a bad history w/fresno state, with bulldogs fans throwing trash at cal fans. why should the bears - and their fans - play a team when their fans act like what they throw?

  • GO BEARS!!!!

  • Just think...next year you will have Kevin Hart at left guard to anchor that offensive line.

  • Congrats to Cal from a Tennessee fan. I admit, I was wrong, they were a better team, with a bigger desire to win. So, just want to be a man and own up.. Punched us in the mouth, and never let us up. Congrats Cal, great stadium, great fans, great football team..

  • we should schedule more Cal-Tennessee games, it's such a great series, culturally, geographically, politically, and of course, two good football schools.

    Go Bears!

  • No one else in the country had the guts to schedule a worthy opponent. Cal and the Vols should be ranked 1 and 2 right now, if only for having the guts to get real.

So bye, bye Michigan... and here's to Tennessee and my California Golden Bears. If there is any justice in the world, we will one day meet for the National Championship. THAT would be a football game!

  • Kick ass in the SEC, Tennessee.

Out here in the West, we're all kind of tired of hearing that we don't know how to play ball.

Your success is our success now.

  • Wow... it could easily have gone over 60, if we'd been sharp throughout.

    GO BEARS!!!!

  • How bout those BEARS!!!!!

Good job by Tennessee, holding Cal to under 50.

    GO BEARS!!!!!!

  • ok, like i said i would be the first to admit I was wrong about Cal, you guys really showed up to play and were the better team tonight, congratulations on the win

  • Thanks! Like I wrote to MDHS, it was a hell of a game, and Tennessee put up a huge fight. I hope that the guy who got hurt (Mitchell?) is ok. No clue what the injury was; there was no sound in the bar I watched at.

  • well there was sound in the stadium, because the worthless pieces of shit that were in the stadium seemed to think it was appropriate to continue cheering while he was laying motionless on the field, i'm glad to know you weren't personally a part of that sorry display of classlessness, i know they were excited but things like that are more important than a football game, that was a terrible shame to see your fans acting like that, maybe they will take a lesson and show a little respect next time

  • Speaking from experience in the student section, it sometimes takes time to realize that there's someone down (I was at the Cal-UCLA game last year, and DeCoud just crushed Bosworth on a Jackson punt return, springing D-Jax for a td. We went nuts, & it took time until we realized that Boz. was down. Once that happened, the section quieted down. It's little consolation, but the cheering isn't necessarily classlessness, it could be lack of awareness of the injury. Just puttin that out there.

  • to an extent that's true, but if you go back and watch the game again later this week, you'll see that the fans were still chanting "let's go bears!" all the way until the commercial break which was almost five minutes after the injury occured, so they may not have known for a little while, but by then word should have gotten around the stadium of what was up, what happened really made cal fans look bad in my opinion

  • Uh right... no one has ever chanted "let's go bears" at a CAL game... you're making stuff up... what you should be upset about is all of YOUR fans walking out of the stadium while YOUR player was on the ground injured. Real classy... not.

  • also i promise none of this is sour grapes about the loss, you guys kicked our ass in every way it could be kicked tonight and your team deserves a lot of credit

  • I had no idea that the chanting was going on, especially that long after the injury. That is really bad. I thought it was just chanting right after the play (say, up to 1 minute until people realize there's a player down). I gotta give Ainge credit, he played really well, regardless of injury (the broken pinky makes his performance all the more impressive)

  • no cause i remember that they went to commercial and i told my friends that they really needed to shut the hell up with the chanting and by the time they came back from commercial it had gotten pretty quiet. anyways hopefully xavier mitchell will be okay, we had a player get a similar injury in our second game last season and even a year later his right arm is still paralyzed. hopefully this won't be so bad

  • reading the Cal mb on Scout, someone in the student section at the game said no one had any idea of the injury; they just saw a lot of people on the sideline, and once they realized a player was hurt, the section/stadium quieted down quickly. They said there was cheering b/c of the Forsett run, and no idea about the injury to Mitchell. Figured that might explain why there was noise after the injury (at least in part). I hope Mitchell recovers fully and quickly!

  • i was there that night, so i can say that for sure, i don't really know all the circumstances surrounding what happened this evening.

  • Wow... really? What I saw was a standing ovation from the stands, for your injured player, as he left the field.

If what you say is true, bleed, please accept my apology on behalf of all California students, alums, professors, drop outs, and tree huggers.

    Well, not the tree huggers.

I pray that your your injured player heals quickly, fully, and with no long term consequences.

  • maybe some of us UT fans are a little oversensitive about the cheering during the injury cause the same thing happened at neyland last year during the alabama game. it was much more blatant and also worse cause i know a lot of you cal fans are new to the football thing, but we certainly expect more from the always football savvy crimson tide fans, they knew what they were doing and it was totally out of line

  • thanks again for the concern, according to phil fulmer on his morning show here in knoxville they did a CT scan and x-ray last night and apparently it's only a concussion and no spinal injuries so it appears he'll be ok

  • California and Tennessee had the guts to schedule a real game to start the season, and maybe that should be the real topic of conversation- not just here on this silly youtube site, but in the pathetic, corrupt data base of the machine that will eventually determine who plays for the national title.

Both teams had so much to lose. One game, and the whole season takes on new meaning.

That takes guts, and that should count for something big.

  • Cal defines their season by defeating Stanford in the "big game" or not getting blown out by USC Tennessee defines their season by beating UGA, Bama, Florida, South Carolina (USC) and depending on the year Auburn, LSU, or Arkansas

  • There should be no National Championship "discussion".

We need a playoff system in D1 football. Let's decide the outcome on the field.

    Kill the BCS!

  • Let's Review

Cal 116 Yards of offense through 3.5 quarters last year. Vols 35 points and Call off the Dogs.....

Must be all that California attitude....63 points...just exactly what are you smoking?

  • because obviously, how last year's game went is going to dictate what happens on Saturday.

No Meachem, no Coker (no comment about his name), SQT has some experience now, and it's not Neyland. I'm thinking the Golden Bears get some revenge.

    GO BEARS!

  • Yeah Yeah Yeah....so is that all the mini megaphones y'all can find?

Gonna be some bear kicking going on

  • make sure to be a good Tenn/SEC fan and bring your pom-poms to the game. Nothing intimidates like adults waving pom poms.

  • It wasn't the pom poms that did the intimidating, I think it was a big mean dude named Mayo. You say Coker, but I remember Montario Hardesty running through all 11 cal defenders.... Man, enjoy this week, cuz after saturday Cals 07 season is virtually over.

  • on an injured knee ha

  • yes, obviously the season opener is going to decimate cal's season, just like last year, right?

  • nno it probably won't decimate your season that much, because no matter how many you lose ESPN and Lee Corso will still think Cal is the greatest thing since sliced bread

  • I think you have Cal mixed up with USC for the ESPN adulation...

  • i'll give you the fact that the usc hype in the past five years or so by ESPN has been ludicrous. however, as i recall, lee corso was still on the bandwagon hyping cal right up to the mid-november loss to arizona. come on, we can all agree that any team that gets their ass handed to them as thoroughly as cal did in knoxville deserves no consideration in the national championship discussion

  • No taunting here, bleed. Tennessee has one hell of a gutsy football team.

Good luck the rest of the year. Go vols in the SEC.

  • No taunting here, bleed. Tennessee has one hell of a gutsy football team.

Good luck the rest of the year. Go vols in the SEC!

  • Thanks man, it was a hell of a fun game to watch. Tennessee put up one hell of a fight. I hope the guy who got hurt (Mitchell?) is ok. No clue what the injury was; there was no sound in the bar I watched at.

  • yeh what am i thinking- cal went to the holiday bowl right ? that loss defined their season, yes it did.

  • How'd Tennessee do in their bowl game? I'm sure if they're such a superior team they must have won. And because they are the end all of offenses, they must have put up more than the 45 points Cal put up on Texas A&M...

  • beside the point

  • lol

  • You have got to be kidding me......was this a COLLEGE game or a HIGH SCHOOL opening?

  • this must be a joke... r cal fans somehow proud of this ... and if you think this is the best atmosphere for a cfb game, then you need to get out more .. what is this pee wee football.>? oh, we already know from last year

  • yup, all Cal did was tie for the Pac-10 championship and won their bowl game. Remind me how the Vols did in their bowl?

  • Remind me how the Pac-10 championship means something?

  • Same way winning any other conference means something

  • Hardly...not all conferences are equal

  • Welcome to High School Football.

  • go bears

  • May our other-worldly team speed rule over your never-say-die and knock-the-shit out of everyone on earth tradition, may our defensive line get it together in a hurry, may Zack Follet be pissed off beyond belief, and may our incoming freshmen run like the wind! Go DeSean! Go Bears!

  • Gawd... that was like, 10 years ago now. I watched some guy named Peyton Manning beat UCLA 35-20 with a 4th quarter comeback that sent chills up my spine. And the women in Tennessee... that alone is enough to make me want to move there forever. Hey!!! Wait a minute! Enough of this fraternizing with the orange enemy! Here's to a great game; good luck!

  • Final Score:

    California: 63

    Tennessee: 13

  • 63-13???? have you lost your mind? tennessee hasn't given up 63 points since 1893, that's 114 years ago. and cal has only scored that many points 10 times in it's entire football history, and only two of those came after 1921, against obvious powerhouses like baylor and the might university of the pacific, who doesn't even have a football team anymore

  • Thanks for the stats, bleed; but I was counting in dog years. All games will be scored in dog years from now on, to honor M. Vick. By the way, I flew out to see a Tennessee game a few years back, and it was amazing: the football was first rate, and the fans were insane. Judging by those standards, I'm not the only one who has lost my mind!

  • You guys are crazy! But you should visit Memorial Stadium at California if you truly love the game; there's no better place to see football. Go, and you'll agree. Maybe you can ride that little dirt bike across country when your friend gets it repaired from your recent 15 foot sojourn. Your love of your team is one of the reasons we all love football; rock on, bleed.

  • holy shit, hahaha, it wasn't me wrecking the dirtbike, but a friend of mine, and unfortunately i won't be able to make it out to berkley for the game this season, but maybe in the future, i think we're going down to tuscaloosa for the 'bama game though, we went to georgia last year but it didn't even compare to neyland

  • also, i love the dog year scoring, what a great tribute to the incomparable vick, somewhere the baha men are just waiting for that call to provide the soundtrack for the straight to dvd release of Who Let the Dogs Out: The Michael Vick Story. prediction tennessee-217 cal-147

  • by the way, what season did you go to neyland and who the Vols playing when you went?

  • I'm excited and nervous. I think the Cal offense (passing, at least) will be awesome. Hopefully we can overcome the loss of Marshawn at RB. Defense is a huge question mark, given that we lost key players on the line, at lb, and in the secondary.

  • Y'all don't get too excited to you?! Get ready because the The Big Orange are coming!!

  • tennessee is coming for you...

  • this must be a joke .. is it?
