I agree, Archie's version of the national anthem is way better than Cook's. David Cook was kinda tensed when he sang it - worried that he might mess up the lyrics (he said that after he performed it). It's really the hardest song to sing, I think - with complicated lyrics and all.

If DAvidCook had a chance, he will do it in his hot rocking way. but, its national anthem, it should be sang from the heart. and its so cool that David cook as rock star, understood the significance of the anthem. he just sang it the way it should be , giving full respect and love, NOt to sing it in a way that others expected him to do (which i don't find reasonable). David Cook will always be amazing to us. HE will always be loved, for his best and for his worst..for being the only DavidCook!

Grow up people!!!! Archie has weaknesses too. Archie would try to avoid all costs to sing impromptu or on the fly. Arch is a TRAINED singer. He cannot sing on the fly without practicing first and doing vocal warmups. He says that to his friends that he needs to warmup b4 singing. He was asked to sing the phonebook, Cook did but he didn't. He avoided singing on the fly at LK with the AI group. Archuleta CAN'T SING ON THE FLY & will try to avoid it at all costs. He has a team training him to sing.

Folks...I really like Archuletta. But it's the NATIONAL F***ING ANTHEM. It's not a pop song. It's our nations anthem. It NEEDS to be sung AS WRITTEN. Archie is a great singer, no doubt. But there shouldn't BE a "version." This song is not about the performer. It's about the US. David Cook's was better because he sang it straight, unadorned and from the heart.

I just listened to Cook sing the National Anthem. Then I listened to Archie sing the National Anthem. Wow!!!! No comparison!!! Cook did a very amateurish performance and, although Archie had a couple of dicey notes, his performance was far superior to Cook's. I really like David Cook and am not trying to discount his talent, but Archie is a true vocalist who always performs with passion and commitment!
