@genebarry88@genebarry88 Never, I'm afraid. I cancelled the game shortly after releasing this demo, because I knew it would take WAY too long to finish. XD
Whoops! Sorry it took me so long to reply, lwtlv. To answer your question, I used a freeware program called Game Maker to create this game. You can download GM from its official website, YoyoGames(dot)com.
Thanks, Richard! I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to finishing this game, to be honest. I haven't worked on the demo since May last year, because I've been busy with other games, like Techno: The Gamma Project. I might finish it someday, but probably not someday soon. lol.
I started making the game just a little over a year ago, but unfortunately I haven't done a bit of work to it since then, because I've been busy working on another (non-3D) game.
Haha, I don't mind making the models solely through code; it's kinda fun to type a bunch of coordinates together and watch a 3D model be created right before your eyes. It is rather time-consuming, though.
No, I actually coded all the models and animations from scratch using pure GML (such as d3d_draw_block, d3d_draw_ellipsoid, d3d_transform_add_translation, etc.), because unfortunately, I never could figure out how to put Anim8or models into GM.
Looks like crap, hopefully you will improve it drtastically. Are you working on this alone? If so get some help from other people get some good modelers & skinners as well a programers. Find custom game forums & recruit people. This game possibly has potential. Nix Nemesis & give Magnus his respective armor. Personally I really don think you should have released this demo.
Yes, I made it alone. Sorry you don't like it, but I spent nearly 3 months designing and programming the entire game from scratch (yes, from scratch -- it's not a custom game, as you seem to think). I put a lot of work into programming the game, making all the graphics, designing every model, and taking careful calculations to ensure Optimus's proper transformations. So yes, you may find my work crappy, but I'm proud of it and I don't plan on letting a bunch of strangers change it anytime soon.
Haha, your first guess was correct. I did indeed make this with Game Maker. I've never used Multimedia Fusion, but I hear it's a nice game creation program.
I'm sorry Sonicclone, I've been pretty lazy lately and haven't had much time to work on this project in ages. It probably won't be finished for several months, if not longer. :( Hopefully I'll have another demo released within a few months, though!
I can't understand why 3D games are always so hyped up. Even when the gameplay is utter balls people still seem to like them because they are "omg3D".
Don't get me wrong I can see you've spent a lot of time working on the graphics, but by the looks of it that's really all you've worked on. What exactly is the direction of the game? At the moment it seems a bit like a silly jump on top of builings platformer and drive around the smoggiest town in the world with bizarro vehicle handling. :S
Actually Eggman, the graphics are the one aspect of the game I've worked the least on. Nearly all my time so far has been spent modelling, animating, and transforming Optimus. I mainly posted this video to show what I've modelled so far, so pardon me if my early and very incomplete work in progress doesn't have outstanding gameplay just yet. ;)
Yeah don't take me the wrong way. It's just I'm a person who usually sees gameplay over graphics the majority of the time. Still, nice work doing that using only GM functions. :)
Thanks, glad you like it! Haha, actually that's my brother's character, Blue the Hedgehog, although there is a Techno billboard somewhere else in the game.
Thanks, glad you like it. The animation was made through pure GML coding. That's really all I can say, because it's so long and complicated that I can't explain the whole process. lol.
Thanks a lot, Sonicslug! I actually didn't use any external modelling programs for this game, because I'm not very experienced in using them; all the models in this game were programmed from scratch in GML. Yes, I plan to have some 3D stages in Techno 2, though I haven't quite decided what purpose they will serve yet. :)
dude i love the game!really love it ps u r a genious:P add me friend on my youtube acc

I dont have a mind to make shapes through text, making graphics through code would probably slowly kill me from the inside.

i'm guessing you used anim8or to make the models. I have to ask, can you get anim8or animations directly into game maker and not just the model?
Rachamacha 3 years ago
No, I actually coded all the models and animations from scratch using pure GML (such as d3d_draw_block, d3d_draw_ellipsoid, d3d_transform_add_translation, etc.), because unfortunately, I never could figure out how to put Anim8or models into GM.
