I like Carrie Underwood, but this song is too big for her. Kelly Clarkson is one of the few vocalists who can pull it off, and she (Kelly) has done an amazing job.

Carrie is good in general, but she should choose songs where she doesn't have to force the entire performance. In country, Martina is probably the only one who could pull this song off...

I'm gonna have to agree and say that Kelly Clarkson totally stole this song. Carrie sings it with absolutely no emotion. It seems so forced. She's a great singer and is definitely talented. But Kelly blew her out of the water here.

I really like Carrie Underwood.  She IS a strong vocalist... but this performance is off. She's having pitch problems; ESPECIALLY at the beginning of the song. I actually just watched the kelly clarkson version of this and was legitimately amazed at her version. Normally I prefer original versions, but Kelly really steals it.

@NikkiBett Yes she was a little off, but that was only for the front part and she probably needed to warm her voice up a little. After that you can hear her being on tune for the rest of the song. For the "screaming" part thats her way of expressing her emotions in the song. And if you think that "it is forced down people's throats", it didn't sound like that to me and certainly to many people here. It was just notes coming out powerfully but not in a strained way.

As I said before why there was no standing ovation for Carrie. Simply reason, this was People's Choice Awards and they are so used to Carrie doing her high vocals, that now they are consider this a normal performance by Carrie and they expect that type of performance for her.

I've heard her do better. Maybe it's because I have such high expectations for Carrie but it's because I KNOW she can do better. She's better than this. She is a high caliber singer and she can do better. I heard her live a few days ago singing this song and it was phenomenal. This doesn't compare. I and everyone around me were amazed at how well she can sing (I could hear peoples comments) Unlike Taylor, Carrie can belt out those notes which me and I'm sure other fans like when an artist does it hence the reason why audience clap after a long or high note. (something TS rarely does and cant do)

Underwoodargentina is right this maybe one bad performance out of a gazillion amazing ones. TS can't compare to Mrs Underwood :)

She was in Singapore last October, performing at the new ION shopping mall at Orchard Turn. It was really unexpected because: Singapore is like the first and probably the only Asian city she's been to and the fact that she is the greatest AMERICAN CONTRY singer of our generation. It was weird though that the stage wasn't grand, just the usual red. I hope she visit Singapore again because receptions here were really good.

Amazing, Carrie, as always. This song especially though really displays her vocal talents. She can hit the hightest of notes and hold them for so long. She goes from high to low and all while keeping keeping it togther; she never sounds out of breath, not even for a second. I'll never understand how Taylor Swift won female vocalist of the year over Carrie in '09. That just doesn't compute at all.

This is one of my fave songs off of "Carnival Ride." Granted it's obviously a bit repetitive, but shows off her voice so well! Then again, I pretty much like every song off that album :) Carrie rocks so hard when she sings live! Go Carrie!!!
