Steve, rosaryfilms account has been suspended due to multiple false accusations by antixristos (which means antichrist) that his copyrights were infringed. This was simply an attack by an anti-catholic bigot on a catholic channel. None of the videos that were claimed for copyright infringement contained material from Antixristos. It is obvious that Antixristos does not produce any audiovideo material, but is simply a troll who is trying to get pro-life catholics kicked off of youtube.
@catholichomeschool That's horrible. I just googled them. They're some kind of raunchy video porn site attacking a pro-life group. Doesn't youtube have an sense?
@TheSabazios thank you very much for your concern. We are back up and running for now -- but I do not know how long. Anyone can attack us by saying that we are infringing on their copyrights -- and then youtube believes them without any proof. Regards...
What do the warning signs of tyranny look like to a progressive? How would the “Road to Tyranny” look like in their eyes? We’ve seen Alex’s version. Whats their’s? I’m curious.
See our petition (in a couple of months has 1457 signatures) our channel is supported by international animal welfare organisations. You need to clean up youtube because these videos are affecting our children there are countless copycat abuse videos because you are not removing the criminals in the first place. Not only have you been complicit in promoting animal abuse but you are also responsible for the violent copycat videos. Please clean up your act.
Where on earth did the improbable clique of self-important, smug wankers who appear on this video get the crazy notion that they represent or speak for the mainstream? Thanks guys. Bite this!
im paying 30$ a month for 16mbps connection through comcast.
korea has 1 internet speed and it is 1GHZps (or 1000mbps). if comcast offered a 1GHZps connection id bet it would be around 1500$ a month and i bet korea isnt paying no where near that much.
this country is to greedy to drop the price on anything. you heard the the lady in the vid comcast is jacking up prices once again.
@MoneyIsSilver That is a ridiculous claim. The whole issue of net neutrality is that of ISPs slowing access to certain sites; the FCC has litigated to protect a users unrestricted access to any site they desire. if anything, the government is loosening the control of the internet held be ISPs and in no way increasing their control. Incidentally your obscene comment is unappreciated because it is entirely infantile.
Think about this, just since Obama took office, this nation has faced the government takeover of GM, Chrysler, Dodge, lending institutions and many other private owned businesses. Now they are wanting our communication lines and our health care. ALL IN ONE YEAR OF DEMOCRAT LEADERSHIP!
That is exactly why 10 individuals who work at this studio have recently changed our political stance from Democrat to Republican.
We really have to get them ALL out of there people, otherwise, max-socialism!
I think the FCC and/or the government, should provide all the cabling/lines to all homes in America, then allow the broadband providers the use thereof. The broadband providers would compete on services which would obviously bring the cost down greatly. The governments part would end at a box in front of each home or a network of say 4 homes, then the provider would pick up the line from there, holding responsibility for the lines after the box only. Otherwise, this is another gov takeover.
dont get tricked the fcc wants to control the internet now to control the information that is being release. think about the bigger picture here this is all bullshit he is not even answering the questions.
he throwing words out there and restating what the question and tellin stories. information grid in our fridge tv, sounds to me like another plot for the nwo to watch over us.
so i guess now its a right to have internet, just like healthcare? do people know once you give government control of something, they are allowed to do whatever they want with it? including censorship?
let me guess, you'll take out all the un-popular info that you dont want people to see, just like on tv. i cant wait until we have no place to go to get real information. fuck the television, pretty soon fuck the internet.

No it's direct censorship. Even more direct then the strongest regulation that the government can muster. In fact it is a more direct way of control. You see, the government still has to work through constuitional law. It can be challenged. Telecom corporations are like water barons. They hold the service hostage. Like a water baron, they only need to shut off service to stop protest. The government has no power like that over the Internet.

Go look up court cases on telecom companies like Comcast. They have been challeging today's net neutrality. They started to give less bandwidth to websites and services they didn't like. Effectively censoring the Internet for people suscribed to it's services.( whether they like it or not) The FCC was pretty much forced to take a more official position before the Internet was broken up and sold.
@Dragontao1 What you're describing sounds like indirect censorship. The type I fear most is direct censorship that more government regulation will bring. Either way censorship is coming. If I must choose between free market forces and the inefficiency and corruption of government I will choose the free market. If Comcast distorts bandwidth it will spawn competition one way or another. This is how free markets work. It would be nice if we could trust government to regulate fairly but we can't.
Is it just me or does the chairman answer everything by simply restating the question in his more eloquent, canned way? I now know nothing more about what the FCC is going to do to bring its plan to fruition, only that it has defined the problem well.
@billeybop nowhere in the video was it even suggested that the FCC will take over any aspect of broadband communication or any other industry. Where are you seeing this supposed "end of freedom." I challenge you provide logical grounds for your accusation based on this video.
Right, so you have a problem with the government because you feel large corporations and thier lobbies have corrupted the system? Then why would you give the same corporations direct power over what you can do on the Internet? You would see it is regulation. Regulation is corrupted because lobbiest spend vast amounts of money to whittle down any regulation and render it ineffective. So handing them direct and complete control is exactly what they want.
@Dragontao1 The sad truth is that we're screwed either way. The internet is far too powerful to allow The People freedom to say, read or watch anything they desire. My biggest issue is that most people feel the nice gov. people are here to serve us. They are not, unless you believe that constantly eroding our liberties is some type of service. Regardless of what we want the internet will be censored, I only hope people keep waking up to the fact that our federal gov. is growing out of control.
What you see on the Internet right now is net nuetrality. We have it because the FCC has forced telecom companies like comcast to provide same level bandwidth to everyone on the Internet. I understand you don't trust the government. But trading one restrictive system with little accountability (FCC)for an even more restrictive system with no accountability(telecom monopolies) is not going to help anyone.
"What you see on the Internet right now is net nuetrality."
Exactly. The status quo is the real net neutrality. Why change something that is working, improving every day. Why is it necessary to fix something that isn't broken? It's not, the government is simply looking for an entry point that will lead to more and more regulation, starting out benign and gradually becoming oppressive. Knowledge is power and the net is the most powerful force ever and they're coming for it.
Now I am not going to rant about our leaders and wireless internet providers being dictators taking our freedoms away, since it will be done anyway, but you simply make more of a profit by control. But I am just one answer.
Could you explain, exactly how keeping the Internet free and nuetral (as it is now) is somehow an "Orwellian term"? By opposing it you want to put all control into the hands of companies who will pick it apart and charge rates for every piece of it. The "free market" telecom companies and right wing shills are promising does have an Orwellian term.
@Dragontao1 "Net Neutrality" will not keep the internet neutral. The government wants authority over the internet. They will promise neutrality but they always tend toward censorship. This will be especially true regarding the internet which is the most powerful tool for criticizing government. In another sense net neutrality is not Orwellian but instead very accurate. The government wishes to neutralize the otherwise uncensored internet. My dog has been "neutralized" and you don't want that.
This is true in my opinion also. I would much rather trust the FCC than some rich telecom executive when it comes to keeping fair service. Free speech is a constitutional right atleast in the U.S. The FCC even investigated Comcast when they tried to invoke unfair bandwidth management.
"How is it a mistake to let the FCC control telecom monopolies." - Fair regulation is fine in theory but we've all seen how well the government regulates anything. The gov. routinely lets insurance companies break anti-trust laws. Why? Because of powerful lobbies. The power of the internet is huge and therefore control of it will corrupt bureaucrats. We can't let them get their foot in the door.
@Yoursecondthought I moved to a rural area 4 years ago. I'm 15 miles from the nearest town. Dirt road, no cable, no pizza delivery. At first I could only get broadband via satellite ( 1MB for $70/month). About 2 years ago DSL became available and now I get 3MB for $25/month. The status quo is working and there is no need to get in a hurry and mess with something as important as a free internet.
As long as Congress, a bunch of stupid and idiotic fools, calls the shots we won't get what e.g. France residents get, i.e. nearly unlimited telephony service, >10 Mbps internet service and TV services for $40 or so per month. The FCC, as a federal institution has become an auction house and has to pander to reps and dems who represent self-interests. The less than $10B in the broadband stimulus plan is an indication of the govt short-sightedness. >$700B were spent in late useless wars!

@shaharurrizal - The US has the 3rd largest land mass with 9,629,091 sq km. S. Korea is 109th with 98,480 sq km. There is 100 X more area to cover in the US than in Korea. Korea has 500 people/sq km, as opposed to only 31/sq km in the US which means the population is 16 X more dense. It is much easier to supply internet access to a small country with a very dense population.
Speeds and access have been steadily improving in the US while costs have been dropping.
@Yoursecondthought In what areas are prices increasing? For the most part service and speed are both improving and people are simply being impatient. I chose to move to a house on a dirt road but I'm not complaining about the bumpy ride. If you can't wait for broadband to get cheap where you live then move. Please understand that I'm primarily focusing on net neutrality which I believe is a step towards internet censorship. I'm focusing generally on gov. encroachment into regulating the net.
@shaharurrizal - "South Korea's internet censorship policy is highly political and particularly strong toward suppressing anonymity in the Korean internet. In 2007, numerous bloggers were censored and their posts deleted by police for expressing criticism of, or even support for, presidential candidates. This even lead to some bloggers being arrested by the police."
@shaharurrizal - "Subsequently in 2008, just before a new presidential election, new legislation that required all major internet portal sites to require identity verification of their users was put into effect. This applies to all users who add any publicly viewable content. For example, to post a comment on a news article, a user registration and citizen identity number verification is required. For foreigners who do not have such numbers, a copy of passport must be faxed and verified."

Uhoh someone with authority is talking its clear he must be an NWO puppet trying to control your brain. Anyone who does NOT have this mind set is a brainless sheep WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP ALEX JONES IS THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST /youtubetard.
In my opinion if someone can't afford upgrading their internet speed through their internet provider at the prices now they shouldn't have internet in the first place.
As an individual educated in computer science and information systems, I fully understand how the net works.
I also know politics and psychology. Half of these comments were inspired by fear steming from a book written in the 40's
The FCC is part of the Gov and the Gov created the internet.
The FCC says who can broadcast on what channel or frequency. They may have some unused channels and want to sell them to make money. With that money they can pay for updating american networks.
@Yoursecondthought I'm not an expert on the situation but I'm good at seeing general trends. Generally speaking, government regulation is ineffective at best and often corrupt favoring large corporations. The gov wont say "let us control what you can see on the net and eliminate anonymity". The gov says "let us give you something for nothing" and then they gradually increase their control until you can get a fine for not wearing your seatbelt. Its always in the guise of "protecting" The People.
You make sense. But also look and see that freedom is being woken up to in so many ways, and is being expressed in more ways than ever before. I personally think the government is quite powerless to stop its progress, and despite their best efforts, (setting up cameras everywhere in cities, monitoring our location on cell phones, arming police with machine guns, reading our emails, monitoring our credit card purchases and call records) they must fail.
The insurance companies control the health policy of the country, Communications companies will control the comm. policy in the country, we are and will be 'farmed' it is the Nature of humanity, the smart ones will farm the dumb ones, may be that is a good thing.
Since the US government created the Internet and is currently net neutral. I am absolutely against it being turned over to giant telecom companies who will split it into their own personal fiefdoms with the American people as peasants. The Internet should empower the normal citizen. Destroying net neutrality will reduce us to overcharged shills.
@Dragontao1 - Your statement implies that the government created the internet so The People could have an uncensored format. This isn't a logical assumption IMO. I believe the net is neutral in spite of who created it and that it will be censored if the government gets more power to regulate it. Net Neutrality is an Orwellian term.
Bureaucrats work gradually with the goal of total control. Controlling our lives is their mission and there is a long history of government limiting our freedom to "protect" us. They always lead with something that is good for the people, or at least sounds good on the surface, like free broadband. Once the gov. has it's foot in the door it will be easier for it to impose more and more regulations for our "safety". The internet is power and whoever regulates (controls) it will hold that power.
There is some merit to what you say about democrats and republicans. However the use
of "Brownshirt" tactics by republicans against Obama has been frightening. While they are both wrong I see most democrates at least have the ability to be reasonable. Sometimes they even back down. Which has been both an asset and a liability.
It's a simple case of "good cop/bad cop". To use the pro wrestling analogy; there are "good guys" and "bad guys" but they are all working toward the same basic goals which are not what you see openly portrayed.
In the twentieth century, every war has been led by a Democrat in the White House with the exception of the Persian Gulf Conflict. WWI, Wilson, WWII, Roosevelt, Korea, Truman, Vietnam, Johnson.

Theory for next generation of how buildings can save energy for cooling the food and drinks by just using one freezer and the cold air shall go all the way up in every cooler room in every floor?
"We're going to make rich monopolies buy everyone broadband... And you guys don't want it ?"
Government bureaucracies can't make rich monopolies do anything because the giant corporations own the politicians. These corporations love when the government controls a market because they control the government with their Monopoly money.
"The internet will remain no matter what"
Obviously, but we will be censored. That is the ultimate goal of Net Neutrality.
We're going to make rich monopolies buy everyone broadband... And you guys don't want it ?
@sheeplex-- You talk a lot of shit to be where u are. Paranoia never got anyone anything. Are you also scared of the telephone system? If you will recall the GOV did the same thing with phone companies. REMEMBER? you can still say shit on the phone... and cheaper than before.
The internet will remain no matter what, as thats what the army designed it to do, back when the GOV contracted them.
The only practical solution is to stop warfare. Take the military home and use armed soldiers to enforce the construction of the perfect communication infrastructure. Forget competition, that can come later. Big Business isn't going to let go easily.
I think they should be selling candy (laced with Ritalin) to the kids. It is crazy how they start to brainwash the kids so early and fill their heads with all this crap. Go back to teaching them things they need to know for work and stay out of the home life.
do u wanna se the Ugliest girl that i've ever seen? ok look for the video: Ogliest girls trust me they are nasty :S if we say that hot means sexu, ok lets call them cold hhahaha got it?"""
The republicans are not back in power yet. But I do agree, once they are back in power the government should never be trusted again.(it's not very trustable now!)
The more the media companies monopolize the stronger the FCC will get. I have my doubts about countrywide broadband but I do
Know that if net neutrality is not implemented the Internet will be compromised if not destroyed. If the Obama administration just enforces net neutrality, liberty will at least exist on the Internet.
Obama promised us that he would punish the telecoms for illegally letting the government collect private data from US citizens. He promptly forgot his promise after he was elected. Government is growing like a cancer and what will destroy the free internet is government interference. The net has been improving constantly since its creation and government involvement will only bring the inefficiency and corruption that it always does.
When the government invented the internet, it was very inefficient until they got the bugs worked out. If the GOV. hadn't started the internet, you wouldn't have a place to argue your dumb ass opinion... im sorry but you clearly have no idea what or who started the internet, nor do you know the difference between regulating spectrum and censorship.
This is why shit takes so long to get passed. People just spew out their cocaine induced thoughts till nobody knows the truth
@Yoursecondthought - It doesn't matter if the government started the internet, private enterprise is what developed it to what it is today. Government is slow and inefficient and this will be apparent if it starts to regulate the net.
I can tell you are intimidated by my position since you've lapsed into name calling. I don't do drugs btw.
Bullshit - they want to censor youtube so bad they can't wait. Don't invite the Government in on ANY private industry, private commerce, private organization, private communication. This will be regulated, taxed, monitored, disconnected at will by a Government mandate.
I have to say I agree with you that I see a mommies boy (or girl) that is still sucking their thumb. The government is playing games and out of control and to hear such baby talk with so many posts shows how much people need someone to take care of them and never stand on their own again. This is like taking a lion out of the jungle and trying to return it again later. The sheeple will die if they have to be responsible for their own lives!
"In Japan and Korea $50 gets you internet speeds of 50 to 100 mbps. In America $50 gets you 5 bmps service, you may ask why its like that, one word monoply."
The FCC is directly part of the CONTROL grid that will be taking away your ability to have OPEN internet. You will see censored, controlled sites only once they get going. If you allow FCC and Osama Obama to control your life in every detail, what is left but to die!
You do understand, the DOD, thats read Department of Defense created the internet back in 1963. Originally called DARPANET or ARPANET, the internet has always been run by the government. And it was also designed to be failsafe. Like get your facts straight and quit misleading the public. You are what this nation should fear
America is struggling in the area of broadband? i was in the military, and have been to several European countries...and korea, broadband, and tv here in america, is far better than any of foreign country i've been to. plenty of options, providers, and content. and the speed and reliability is just off the charts comparatively. i dont know where this guy gets his info (im sure its "provided" by the gov't.) but he is wrong. just another excuse to have more things provided by the taxpayer....
This is just sickening. All the young people will think the government is here to help them, and believe this scumbag. And the FCC gas no right to the internet, and cable. It is a FRAUD.
The FCC was created to deal with RADIO FREQUENCY which are limited by the laws of PHYSICS.
Cable TV and internet are PRIVATE and not limited in anyway. The FCC is a CRIMINAL organization and needs to be dismantled.
In Japan and Korea $50 gets you internet speeds of 50 to 100 mbps. In America $50 gets you 5 bmps service, you may ask why its like that, one word monoply.
ALL of you people who say fuck the FCC, do you realize that if the FCC hadn't stepped in, broadband companies would have started monitoring your traffic just in the last decade. The FCC said it was unfair for companies to be able to charge joe more for downloading torrents than jim who downloads from FTP
The FCC saved all of you money a long time ago and helped protect your privacy.
Remember when -TRAFFIC SHAPING- was the scare? Look it up. Dont just go on what u think. This is important.
@Yoursecondthought The income tax started out at 1%. Look up "gradualism". Obviously the government would not lead with censorship and licensing those who use the internet, but it's likely they would eventually institute this for our "protection".
Is it Funny that youtube wont let me say-"free education for EVERYONE through WEED TAXATION"? how about it? how about it? AND is it funny that youtube wont let me say
So let's get this right. Businesses fund the gov. with taxes to keep the Public section Liquid and working. But Businesses are folding left and right. Unemployment is at a historical low. There are no jobs, but this administration thinks that Nationalizing Healthcare and adding 1 trillion dollars to an already broke economy is going to cut our deficit. Wake up people! Are you all blind? This is not rocket science. National Socialism was the ideology and practice of the Nazi Party.
You missed the day they handed out brains? how many people does it take to re-wire the country==== JOBS=== people have money===ppl spend money====you get the picture i hope
And no this isn't rocket science, if comcast or AT&T is getting all the business for broadband and won't expand, then you have a rich shot caller that does what they want. If they don't spend that money by expanding, how will the money ever get back to the economy?
@Yoursecondthought Your right, its not rocket science. We do not need government to force the issue. We need a consumer who demands more than what the provider is presenting. We also need an economy that produces goods and not just services meaning companies need to stop outsourcing its jobs to cheap labor countries, this way we can keep more money here in the states. Gov't could regulate that, instead of trying to provide more services. That's common sense. The gov't can not solve this for us.
There are plenty of consumers who are demanding more than what the provider is presenting. But like others have said, the broadband companies aren't extending service to rural areas because they lose money. think about that... comcast losing money? do the math, with the amount they charge they are super rich. its a monopoly and there is no other way to get broadband.
You are right my friend. The only thing I would add to your comment is that the reason everything has been outsourced is because of growing regulation. We need less regulation. But this idiot you are arguing with probably grew up in a house with two parents that derived theitr incomes from our hard labor. His new name is Captain Fruitloop.
You left out one simple part of you equation. Where do think the money comes from Einstein? It comes from people who invent businesses. This is what you ignaranuses just dont get. You, my friend, Captain Fruitloop, either work for the state, local, Federal govt. Or you smoke way too much pot.
If you would read you would see that the money comes from whoever buys the spectrum the FCC is auctioning. Then they make themselves money with their newly aquired spectrum by charging the consumers for services dealing with the spectrum. Come on guy what else do i have to explain for you, drop me a line and i'll spell it out
Look, If you wish too live in a country were by which the Govt. Dominates all aspects of society. Then Chose one of the 193 countries around the world and BluLiteMindset , and my self will start fundraising to buy you a one way ticket for you and your pet cat to move. This country will remain the way the founders intended. I do hair for a living what do you do? Let me guess it's none of my business.
This has nothing to do with gov. dominating. It has to do with the gov. giving us more options. Quit being such a pussy man! We're trying to help kids learn faster and update critical infrastructure. Anser me this, do you know how much power it takes to break the encryption of our enemies who have far superior cloud computing abilities?? We might have lost WWII if our decryption abilities weren't better than what they were.
And if you're so afraid of the U.S. gov u an enemy
@Yoursecondthought I do not want to abolish government completely. They do a great job with public works projects, so long as citizens keep on the politicians so they uphold their word. We need the government to regulate, no question about it I would never dispute that. Sure, broadband is expensive to get in rural areas and maybe City gov't or State gov't could assist with that however I do not want a body such as the Fed Gov't to provide the service. That's just not what gov't is for.
Too much government now and for so long. Time to cut the government and their bloody regulations and licensing scams. Wake up to what is really going on here. To stop the truth from getting out? If they are so worried about security, why are they on a common system anyway? They need to have their own system and leave us alone.
@Yoursecondthought Until our government can prove to us that it is actually willing to do the bidding of the people correctly (which it has failed so miserably to do the last few years) and without encroaching upon our privacies I do not want to see our gov't try something new. There are still too many things flawed with it to allow it to expand. If the FCC didn't have such a track record with censorship I might not have a problem however given their history I jsut do not want them involved.
@RightCountry Just want to add. Please no insults. Insults kill our entire argument and give us less credit. Keep in mind, "I may disagree with what you say, however, I will defend to the death your right to say it." Freedom of speech my friend, thats what we're fighting for here. You know that, everyone deserves to give their two cents. Kudos to you and lets keep fighting against this thing. Smaller government and less interference. The people will prevail. Only question now is which people.
Look I try and call it like I see it. I use no foul language but I'll be a one legged soccer player if I am going to sit by and let this country slide into the crapper all because we have a slim minority that wants to convince the majority of uneducated that there way(Socialism) is the wine that fills there cup. Sorry for offending you but I see no lost steps in my debate. I can see, by your many posts, that you too enjoy the banter. Let's stick with our foes shall we.
its Puff, puff, pass, not puffpuff puff puff puff !things like that were invented a long long long time ago, in the phone tap days, you know , when you had to have a warrant, those are just toilet paper thanks to these last two !
@kc9gpj Amen to that...I grew up without internet and was able to research anything I needed from the library...books have the same info in them , and it is probably more reliable than some info you get on the internet.

@Mixman77 why do people in america consider the healthcare bill bad?
gamerfreakout 1 year ago
I think the FCC and/or the government, should provide all the cabling/lines to all homes in America, then allow the broadband providers the use thereof. The broadband providers would compete on services which would obviously bring the cost down greatly. The governments part would end at a box in front of each home or a network of say 4 homes, then the provider would pick up the line from there, holding responsibility for the lines after the box only. Otherwise, this is another gov takeover.

Dragontao1 1 year ago
@Dragontao1 What you're describing sounds like indirect censorship. The type I fear most is direct censorship that more government regulation will bring. Either way censorship is coming. If I must choose between free market forces and the inefficiency and corruption of government I will choose the free market. If Comcast distorts bandwidth it will spawn competition one way or another. This is how free markets work. It would be nice if we could trust government to regulate fairly but we can't.

Blacksoldierfly,
Right, so you have a problem with the government because you feel large corporations and thier lobbies have corrupted the system? Then why would you give the same corporations direct power over what you can do on the Internet? You would see it is regulation. Regulation is corrupted because lobbiest spend vast amounts of money to whittle down any regulation and render it ineffective. So handing them direct and complete control is exactly what they want.
Dragontao1 1 year ago
@Dragontao1
We can vote with the FCC but not with AT&T or comcast.
Yoursecondthought 1 year ago
@Dragontao1 The sad truth is that we're screwed either way. The internet is far too powerful to allow The People freedom to say, read or watch anything they desire. My biggest issue is that most people feel the nice gov. people are here to serve us. They are not, unless you believe that constantly eroding our liberties is some type of service. Regardless of what we want the internet will be censored, I only hope people keep waking up to the fact that our federal gov. is growing out of control.
BlackSoldierFly 1 year ago
Blacksoldierfly,
What you see on the Internet right now is net nuetrality.
Dragontao1 1 year ago
@Dragontao1
BlackSoldierFly 1 year ago

SamPD2 1 year ago
Blacksoldierfly,
Could you explain, exactly how keeping the Internet free and nuetral (as it is now) is somehow an "Orwellian term"? By opposing it you want to put all control into the hands of companies who will pick it apart and charge rates for every piece of it. The "free market" telecom companies and right wing shills are promising does have an Orwellian term.
The Animal farm.
Dragontao1 1 year ago
@Dragontao1 "Net Neutrality" will not keep the internet neutral. The government wants authority over the internet. They will promise neutrality but they always tend toward censorship. This will be especially true regarding the internet which is the most powerful tool for criticizing government. In another sense net neutrality is not Orwellian but instead very accurate. The government wishes to neutralize the otherwise uncensored internet. My dog has been "neutralized" and you don't want that.
BlackSoldierFly 1 year ago
@Dragontao1
This is true in my opinion also. I would much rather trust the FCC than some rich telecom executive when it comes to keeping fair service. Free speech is a constitutional right atleast in the U.S. The FCC even investigated Comcast when they tried to invoke unfair bandwidth management.

Would anyone suggest how we as a country can update our wires?
How can we all have broadband if current ISP's won't go "last mile"?
This isn't about censorship. FCC has the power to make ISP's go last mile.
How is it a mistake to let the FCC control telecom monopolies.
Basicly, if not this, what do you propose to accomplish "last mile" goals?
Yoursecondthought 1 year ago
@Yoursecondthought Wires are being updated as we type, are they not?
"How is it a mistake to let the FCC control telecom monopolies." - Fair regulation is fine in theory but we've all seen how well the government regulates anything. The gov. routinely lets insurance companies break anti-trust laws. Why? Because of powerful lobbies. The power of the internet is huge and therefore control of it will corrupt bureaucrats. We can't let them get their foot in the door.
BlackSoldierFly 1 year ago
@Yoursecondthought I moved to a rural area 4 years ago. I'm 15 miles from the nearest town. Dirt road, no cable, no pizza delivery. At first I could only get broadband via satellite ( 1MB for $70/month). About 2 years ago DSL became available and now I get 3MB for $25/month. The status quo is working and there is no need to get in a hurry and mess with something as important as a free internet.
BlackSoldierFly 1 year ago
As long as Congress, a bunch of stupid and idiotic fools, calls the shots we won't get what e.g. France residents get, i.e. nearly unlimited telephony service, >10 Mbps internet service and TV services for $40 or so per month. The FCC, as a federal institution has become an auction house and has to pander to reps and dems who represent self-interests. The less than $10B in the broadband stimulus plan is an indication of the govt short-sightedness. >$700B were spent in late useless wars!

Korea has 500 people/sq km, as opposed to only 31/sq km in the US which means the population is 16 X more dense. What do new Wi-max towers have to do with censorship?
Yoursecondthought 1 year ago
@Yoursecondthought I'm not an expert on the situation but I'm good at seeing general trends. Generally speaking, government regulation is ineffective at best and often corrupt favoring large corporations. The gov wont say "let us control what you can see on the net and eliminate anonymity". The gov says "let us give you something for nothing" and then they gradually increase their control until you can get a fine for not wearing your seatbelt. Its always in the guise of "protecting" The People.
BlackSoldierFly 1 year ago
You make sense. But also look and see that freedom is being woken up to in so many ways, and is being expressed in more ways than ever before. I personally think the government is quite powerless to stop its progress, and despite their best efforts, (setting up cameras everywhere in cities, monitoring our location on cell phones, arming police with machine guns, reading our emails, monitoring our credit card purchases and call records) they must fail.

Since the US government created the Internet and is currently net neutral. I am absolutely against it being turned over to giant telecom companies who will split it into their own personal fiefdoms with the American people as peasants. The Internet should empower the normal citizen. Destroying net neutrality will reduce us to overcharged shills.
Dragontao1 1 year ago
@Dragontao1 - Your statement implies that the government created the internet so The People could have an uncensored format. This isn't a logical assumption IMO. I believe the net is neutral in spite of who created it and that it will be censored if the government gets more power to regulate it. Net Neutrality is an Orwellian term.
BlackSoldierFly 1 year ago
@BlackSoldierFly

Yoursecondthought 1 year ago
Bureaucrats work gradually with the goal of total control. Controlling our lives is their mission and there is a long history of government limiting our freedom to "protect" us. They always lead with something that is good for the people, or at least sounds good on the surface, like free broadband. Once the gov. has it's foot in the door it will be easier for it to impose more and more regulations for our "safety". The internet is power and whoever regulates (controls) it will hold that power.

Fuck the FCC!! Wake up sheep! Quit voting for fucks who appoint organizations to waste your money and erode your rights!
a5dr3 1 year ago
ALL of you people who say fuck the FCC, do you realize that if the FCC hadn't stepped in, broadband companies would have started monitoring your traffic just in the last decade. The FCC said it was unfair for companies to be able to charge joe more for downloading torrents than jim who downloads from FTP
The FCC saved all of you money a long time ago and helped protect your privacy.
Remember when -TRAFFIC SHAPING- was the scare? Look it up. Dont just go on what u think. This is important.
Yoursecondthought 1 year ago
@Yoursecondthought The income tax started out at 1%. Look up "gradualism". Obviously the government would not lead with censorship and licensing those who use the internet, but it's likely they would eventually institute this for our "protection".

@RightCountry
Pretty simple to most folk, go 2 school
Yoursecondthought 1 year ago
@Yoursecondthought Your right, its not rocket science. We do not need government to force the issue. We need a consumer who demands more than what the provider is presenting. We also need an economy that produces goods and not just services meaning companies need to stop outsourcing its jobs to cheap labor countries, this way we can keep more money here in the states. Gov't could regulate that, instead of trying to provide more services. That's common sense. The gov't can not solve this for us.
BluLiteMindset 1 year ago
@BluLiteMindset
Yoursecondthought 1 year ago
You are right my friend. The only thing I would add to your comment is that the reason everything has been outsourced is because of growing regulation. We need less regulation. But this idiot you are arguing with probably grew up in a house with two parents that derived theitr incomes from our hard labor. His new name is Captain Fruitloop.
RightCountry 1 year ago
You left out one simple part of you equation. Where do think the money comes from Einstein? It comes from people who invent businesses. This is what you ignaranuses just dont get. You, my friend, Captain Fruitloop, either work for the state, local, Federal govt. Or you smoke way too much pot.
RightCountry 1 year ago
@RightCountry

@RightCountry
Yoursecondthought 1 year ago
@Yoursecondthought I do not want to abolish government completely. They do a great job with public works projects, so long as citizens keep on the politicians so they uphold their word. We need the government to regulate, no question about it I would never dispute that. Sure, broadband is expensive to get in rural areas and maybe City gov't or State gov't could assist with that however I do not want a body such as the Fed Gov't to provide the service. That's just not what gov't is for.
BluLiteMindset 1 year ago
Too much government now and for so long. Time to cut the government and their bloody regulations and licensing scams. Wake up to what is really going on here. To stop the truth from getting out? If they are so worried about security, why are they on a common system anyway? They need to have their own system and leave us alone.
Sheeple101 1 year ago 2
@Yoursecondthought Until our government can prove to us that it is actually willing to do the bidding of the people correctly (which it has failed so miserably to do the last few years) and without encroaching upon our privacies I do not want to see our gov't try something new. There are still too many things flawed with it to allow it to expand. If the FCC didn't have such a track record with censorship I might not have a problem however given their history I jsut do not want them involved.
BluLiteMindset 1 year ago
@RightCountry Just want to add. Please no insults. Insults kill our entire argument and give us less credit. Keep in mind, "I may disagree with what you say, however, I will defend to the death your right to say it." Freedom of speech my friend, thats what we're fighting for here. You know that, everyone deserves to give their two cents. Kudos to you and lets keep fighting against this thing. Smaller government and less interference. The people will prevail. Only question now is which people.
BluLiteMindset 1 year ago
Look I try and call it like I see it. I use no foul language but I'll be a one legged soccer player if I am going to sit by and let this country slide into the crapper all because we have a slim minority that wants to convince the majority of uneducated that there way(Socialism) is the wine that fills there cup. Sorry for offending you but I see no lost steps in my debate. I can see, by your many posts, that you too enjoy the banter. Let's stick with our foes shall we.

Getting broadband even to rural areas with no access.
Yoursecondthought 1 year ago
@kc9gpj Amen to that...I grew up without internet and was able to research anything I needed from the library...books have the same info in them , and it is probably more reliable than some info you get on the internet.
