Yeah i was kinda thinking that edo wonderland was kinda like the japanese version of the renaissance festival! You know you can even suit up in period clothing too once you get there? It costs money but not a lot. They have a whole list of things you can be, from common villager all the way up to geisha. They had guy's costumes too but of course I didn't have any reason to check those out :p

that would be awesome. I belonged off and on to the Society for Creative Anachronism (euro medieval recreational society) and we would have wonderful events and tourneys in costume, it was a very good feeling to step outside of yourself. If I were at Edo Wonderland I would be definitely getting the costume.

This reminded me of a trip to an old western theme park I took in the US.

It was doing a good job staying in the old western atmosphere, but then again, you'd feel weird about the modern facilities like bathrooms and restaurants.

COOL! The music was well chosen and the end helped to round it out. I agree with nimyo: Koi are wierd! The ones in the japanese garden in Portland almost scare me. When eating, they look like they will suck you in if you get too close!

I saw on tv, there's this one guy here in Japan who has this golden koi (i'm not kidding either, the think LOOKS like it's made of gold!) and it's worth some insane amount of money, but he said it's his buddy so he'll never sell it. The thing comes when he calls it, lets him rub it's head, and eats from the guy's hand.

And yeah... the giant 'O' mouth looks like it might devour everything in existance if it had the chance :p

It's a pretty fun place :) if you ever do go to that place though I would arrange for something else to do while you're in Nikko, cause that place isn't so big. You'll be done with it after a few hours and ready for something else fun :p
