  • it's not only your correct playing, it's the way HOW you play it.... i wish i could play like that...so gently, awesome!

  • can you send the tab ?

  • Absolutely amazing playing. Ya talk kinda funny, though. Are you from Kentucky or Georgia? I'm only joking. I know you are from the land "down under."

The UK rocks. Home of Marshall Amplifiers.

  • Georgia? Kentucky? He sounds like a brit

  • Thanks man I got it down good it took me 5 or 6 hrs over the last few weeks. I also watched some other peoples videos because they had better res shots of a few parts I could not see well. Your version is the best and sounds real close to the the real recording

  • Hello, you play great! I would like to know about your guitar such what year is it and what type of pickups? Also, what amp are you playing throught and what is the setup on the knob controls?

    Thank you

  • The guitar is a bit of a mish-mash, the body is 1986 jap strat, the neck is 1889 jap strat and the pick ups are Levinson Blade which are the same output as standard fenders; I was using the bridge and middle pick ups. I was playing through a Boss BR1180cd recording desk but can't remember what settings I used. Thanks for the comments!

  • @tommytube48 Top guitar sound. That would have sounded great thru a twin with a tube compressor in front - still sounded bloody awesome anyway - but I'm just being a picky bastard ;-) I love the fiesta red - I've got one the same colour.

  • Thanks for sharing this Tom. Very well done and very clear.

  • great!! this actually doesn't even look that hard!! still gonna be a lot of practicing but hey! everybody's gotta learn!!

  • mo' fucker! this is the real shit man! finally a decent acurate lesson.

  • Four and a half stars? WTF? If you're not giving this guy's videos five stars you need your ass (or arse) kicked!

  • i know mate this guy plays this solo as good as mark if not better

  • hahaha... that was pretty funny i agree

  • this is awesome!

is there a way to get the tabs? it would be easier for me to learn it :) cause all internet tabs show different ways to play (but i love this one).

  • thanks for the help

  • very good! (Y)

  • holy shit are you fucking good very smooth

  • Tom- I am 61 and a big Knopfler fan....many kudos for your skills as a player AND a teacher...I am learning more from your videos than all the dozens of paid formal lessons in the past...you have EXACTLY the best video technique of the hundreds on U Tube.....my success is proof....keep it up....how about mark's What it Is???? Thanks-Jemison

  • Wow, thanks a lot for the very flattering feedback, I'll look into "What it is", happy strumming!

  • @tommytube48 Ah I think that too, though I have had some lessons in the past before.

But where years ago, left the guitar to work on software development myself, still doing that, but this makes me want to continue on, good stuff!

  • cambia mestiere!

  • This is very good, the best i've seen, maybe I can pick it up from this. Never saw so much fancy stuff in one song. Thanks

  • WOW! Great job! Also, your guitar sounds exactly like Mark's. If you don't mind, what is your setup to get that tone and what amp are you using? Thanks

  • Good job. You made it really clear. I appreciate that "twin-view-thing" pretty much, everyone should be able to adept Knopfler's techniques with this. Can you do something like that for the second solo? (Perhaps you already did that and I was just to dumb to find it?)

    Greetings from Germany

  • i been meaning to learn this for years, cheers man i may actually work it out now. :) thanks

  • i can't figure out what you are doing @ 1:35. can you explain?

  • at 1:35 it goes: 1st string 10th fret 1st string 13th fret 1st string 10th fret 2nd string 10th fret 2nd string 13th fret 1st string 10th fret 2nd string 13th fret 2nd string 10th fret 3rd string 12th fret 3rd strings 10th fret i think that might answer your question
  • thank you. so much for trying to train my ear on this solo like i was advised.... but hell w.e i got it.

  • what exactly are you doing at 1:18 - 1:19? Muting the string?

  • awesome job, could u show the second part?

  • Will do, as soon as I get time, thanks for watching!

  • I can't get the part where you slide up the neck at 1.25 i can't see where your fingers go

  • at 1.25 he puts his finger on the 1st strings,5 fret, and then slides up to the 13th fret hop that helps

  • HI, I'm bending the g string (3rd from bottom) up with my 3rd finger on 12th fret and my pinky is covering the B & E on 13th fret. Then after coming out of the bend on G string, it's 10th fret on g string followed by 12th again. Then I oved my whole hand right down the fret board and slide my 3rd finger right up the top E to 13th fret, then pull off to 12th, then 13th on B string then 12th on G then 10th fret on B, then 12th fret on G, then a bit of staccato on 13th fret of B string. Good Luck!

  • Are you using the D-Minor pentatonic scale the entire song.??

  • nice vid

  • do you have a tab?

  • wow awesome

  • really really good , have a look at my vid just see what im doing wrong please

  • Well I think you did it....Out of all these great Sultan video lessons, I believe yours is as good as it gets..Then to slow it down for us slower learners is simply generous to a fault. Now when I play it It's smooth as butter. Thank you!

  • Muito legal o video!

    Parabéns.
