i have a mac mini and all my music in an a external drive for some reason it keeps telling me the same thing i went through is a found all my music back. then i closed itunes and opened it again and the same thing popped up the exclamation mark popped up. after i spent all day locating all the files over 4000 songs i have it tell me it cant find it. plz help
Question: I have my Itunes on a back up drive. I want to know if I will be able to use it with all my playlists? No one ever answers that!!! I have Itunes on my Mac and my Library is organized with Playlists, Folders and Smart Playlist - meaning, everything is named and organized!!! Once I delete my music from my Mac (after the transfer to external drive) will I be able to retain these Playlists while playing music from my external drive!!!!???
can i do this: i have my pc and itunes, and for some reason it deleted all my songs on itunes, and i hvae a fuckin mess, with my music, its mixed up and have it on alot of different folders, can i take my music from my ipod, and transfer it to itunes????
when i imported a burned disc to my itunes the songs name r like track 1 track 2 so on and i need to change the names to the rea names which i cant do how can i do that where i chage there names of the song and give them the artis
Because I had 11 albums on my Mac that I played in iTunes, but later I moved them to my portable hard drive where all my other music is so that it doesn't use up hard drive space on my Mac. But now iTunes needs me to locate where the songs from those albums are and I need to locate everything one song by a time... :/
i did this and it works but i'm just wondering if it's okay that all my songs and stuff still show up even when my external harddrive is not plugged in (which has my itunes library on it) and although they do show up...they only allow me to play them when my external harddrive is plugged in otherwise they say the original file could not be located. if someone could explain this i'd be thankful :)
you forgot a very important step. first you have to get all the music that is on your computer in the iTunes folder. many people have music which is in iTunes but not in the iTunes folder.
you could just click on the nummber or podcast or whatever it is and copy the downloaded file to a harddrive then you also havent things on it that you dint want to have anymore
hey, what about corrupted itunes files that wont download and songs that are on ur itunes but dont play?

Hey bwana!
Do you know how to locate multiple missing songs?
Because I had 11 albums on my Mac that I played in iTunes, but later I moved them to my portable hard drive where all my other music is so that it doesn't use up hard drive space on my Mac. But now iTunes needs me to locate where the songs from those albums are and I need to locate everything one song by a time... :/

Bwana,
you forgot a very important step. first you have to get all the music that is on your computer in the iTunes folder. many people have music which is in iTunes but not in the iTunes folder.
to do that, use:
archive > library > consolidate library

Yes, there is. If you email Apple customer support and describe what happened they will likely let you download all your songs one more time.

What about if your HDD fails, and you lose everything? Is there a way to download songs that I purchased to my new computer without paying again?

Iis it cool to do this on the same XHD already used for Time Machine Backups?
So:
Finder>Music>iTunes
Copy to backup before we start switching.
iTunes>Preferences>Advanced> make sure both "copy" & "organise" selections are checked.
Last:
iTunes>Preferences>Advanced>iTunes Music Folder Location>Change> select the XHD.
Reassurance is appreciated!
