  • Hey hickok45, I own a .357 and have shot 158 grain bullets, even one handed, and I can handle it without a problem. Would I be able to handle a .44 mag?

  • Hey, does anybody know where the first 629 3" barrel video is? Doesn't Hickok45 do a "show and tell" video then followed at some point with a "close up" video? Does this gun have a more general segment in "Revolver Love?" Do I have to bear the exertion and watch all of Hickok45's .44/general revolver videos again? ;)

  • If you rub peach fuzz on the barrel will it take the noise away?

  • Great video! Thanks for posting!

  • nice vice!!

  • This is making me miss my 6" 629-1! I sold it so I could buy a 686 Mountain gun lol. Interestingly the Mountain gun is slightly lighter than the 3" 686+, so I figured I'd take the extra sight length and quite frankly I hate the look of the full barrel underlugs. As soon as I get a nice holster it's going to be my new CCW.

  • hickok45 I've got this same gun, the 3" S&W 629-4 in mint-cond. I have a question, would you be interested in selling the wood grips on your 629-4, I'd give you a very good price and a new set of Hogue Rubber grips for this gun.....Think about it...?????

  • I like the 44. mag or special .. I have the Colt Anaconda 3 inch barrel.. SS AND of coarse I like mine better ..

  • Yes I Love the Bulldog .44 close up and personal Dirty Harry

  • 500s&w mag ≈ 30-06 power in a handgun

  • Nice revolver , but personally I prefer blue finish guns

  • now is Eagle Desert 45. the most powerful handgun in the world right???

  • @MrBadboyGR No. Smith and Wesson 500 magnum is the most powerful cartridge. The cartridge is fired from the Smith and Wesson Model 500. :)

  • @MrBadboyGR no, the most powerful handgun cartridge in the world is the .500 magnum in a smith&wesson (or any other brand i suppose but i just buy s&w) revolver, there are however handguns chambered in rifle cartridges for special competition but i think most would agree that does not count in the "most powerful handgun" discussion, but no the desert eagle is not the most powerful handgun, as much as video games likes to make it seem, you can get a revolver for half the price or less

  • @MrBadboyGR oh sorry i didn't see the reply someone else left you =)

  • Every thing is right, but still only 6 shots. This is bullshit.Beretta Parabellum ,Beretta Px4 storm this is e gun 20 shots.

  • @wojciuirl if you need 20 rounds to hit a target then you probably shouldnt have a gun

  • @balla740 hahaha!!!! good joke. But I no need 20rounds to hit a target, because I am a hunter from 26years and I don't have any problems with proper shooting to target.I just a wanna tell you that if you have more rounds, you can be more safety if some bandits atack you.

  • what kind of grips r on that gun

  • where did u buy those grips for that gun at

  • Thumbs up if you support Ron Paul!!

  • whats your opinion on the G36C

  • Man, I simply LOVE that gun!

  • Curious to know if you have a Ruger model that would be similar to this (such as the Alaskan) and what you think between the two.

  • Velocity gives the 44mag, 357mag/sig & 10mm it's power and edge over other calibers like the 44sp, 38, 9mm & 40.

Unless you use hot loads to compensate for barrel length, it seems short barrel/subcompact configurations (G33 G29, snub 357's) almost defeat the purpose and reduce the effectiveness of these specialized cartridges, regarding terminal ballistics of hollow-points. Of course, they do wonders for comfort & conceal-ability...

  • @ftxpanding , For hunting that's more of an issue, I think. For self defense, I think a hundred FPS is given too much attention. Along with being able to shoot, HAVING the gun is most important. with Glock barrels, I've seen articles written that tested the difference in velocity among barrel lengths. The difference is very small, mainly because of the rifling Glock uses, I think is the reason given.

  • @hickok45 Yes, in public, it's less critical. As a backup against wild hogs and bear, I'd feel safer with a 4".

Comparing the SR9 & SR9c, the subcompact can turn a good 124+P into a standard pressure 9mm. (at least with polygonal rifling) 40 to 50 fps loss is common moving down to 3.5" from 4". For small lightweight calibers like the 9mm, I think the terminal ballistic gains you get with a +P are almost as dramatic as going from 38 to 9mm. Almost closing in on 40sw ballistics.

  • @hickok45 But yes, I believe there's too much emphasis on caliber and terminal ballistics and not enough on trigger squeeze and grip. hehe

Heavy-for-caliber rounds, like the 147 9mm, almost have the same effect as short barrels, and seem better suited for longer barrel firearms like the Beretta 92FS or G17; unless penetration is the goal. Just some thoughts... Btw, love your channel and insight. : )

  • Nice video, I had no concept of the recoil until I saw this. I can't help suspecting that you're compensating for something with your mantra about short barrels being about as effective as long barrels. lol jk

  • Lookin' good, hickok! You'll be making S&W rich and me poor from all of these guns you've been showing.

  • gorgeous weapon. i also love the way you can see the tripod in the reflection on the gun.

  • Comment removed

  • I dont like the tritium/ plastic sights on revolvers :| I dont know what to call them :P

  • Can't wait till I'm a little older I'm 15 right now I feel like getting this gun or a colt python but a short barrel

  • How would you rate the kick compared to a 640-1?

  • Thanks for another great vid! I love that gun!

  • S&W 629, she is soo gorgeous

  • he could shoot it earlia

  • looks like a computer game!!!

  • @MalexanderL Yeah, it's my favourite game. It's called 'IRL' and has some pretty nice graphics.

  • 8:35...xD Nice video

  • could he just atlest shoot it

  • @toonarmy63 He did shoot it. What, did you get bored and not watch the video long enough?

  • Great video Sir, thank you! (I've owned and shot both the three and six inch 44mag and I find the three inch very comfortable, it just comes up a bit more than the six, but not badly)

  • That's beautiful. You're a lucky lucky man Hickok. You're the best. You're like a favorite Uncle that lives in my computer ;-)

  • most powerfull handgun in the world? don't think so dude, nice gun though

  • @CAL44033 You know he was just quoting Dirty Harry, right? He even says so, and he states that there are more powerful handguns now (there were back then, too).

  • @RoninEnsse yeah didn't watch the vid completely

  • Hi there, can you show bewolf riffle 50

  • nice vids and great gun. check out my vids, i got some gun reviews up there. I love your style!

  • Beauty of a gun,

  • Are those "boot" grips?

  • Too shiny.

  • its a plastic gun=)

  • I have one exactly like this but my grips are different, I carry it everday (I have a pistol license)

  • .44 kicks pretty good i enjoy shooting it but I'm young and havent blown my shoulder out yet :) automatic shotguns are too much fun also

  • I enjoy all of the reviews you do, thank you for taking the time to do these, there are some of us that appreciate the time and effort you put in these.

  • A beutiful gun! I live in Louisiana and have been looking for a good .44, How much did you spend on this in your state if you don't mind me asking?

  • FPS Russia's grandpa! :D

  • @alpinestar336, Hopefully, you're under 10 years of age, and at least we can hope you mature a bit somewhere down the road. :-)

  • @alpinestar336 Your a dumb ass. hickock45 makes great vids, Keep up the great work Hickok!!

  • @alpinestar336 What a dumb-ass remark to make about this man, hickok45 is one of most honest and knowledgeable men on youtube, and is more manly then you will ever be....Get a life, and grow up before someone shoves their boot up your spineless ass!!

  • Love this gun & I agree still very powerful IMO. The close-up was much appreciated too.

  • the 44 was powerfull but later made the 50 cal and the cassull 454

  • Hickok, why do you have no use for porting? Just curious...

  • hickok I for one like the informative videos, Im willing to learn and can appreciate the information you provide on firearms in general!! I learned alot about the Mosin nagant or "Mosinka" thank alot for your time!!!

  • The 629 in stainless is by far, my favorite revolver. Thanks, Hickok45, I really appreciate these videos.

  • @FunVanDriver I'd have to say out of all of the revolvers i have shot the Colt King Cobra is by far my favorite "wheel gun" Ive shot a 686 with a 6" barrel and it was pretty comfortable as well but the king cobra was like sex in my hand lol just kiddn!!!

  • I've had one of these for 20 years and it is one of my "never get rid of" guns. I have those same grips but prefer the factory wooden grips because I shoot .44 rounds and find it easier to hold on to. I love this gun!

  • it's not the gun that's powerful but the cartridges.

  • Well Mr. Bear u can't eat me today lol...

  • Hey, I love all the background info, very informative. But do you have info and video during which you actually shoot this major-league piece?

  • That barrel sure is short for a 44 mag!

  • Can you get the thunder .50 bmg handgun & make a video of it please...

  • I have a redhawk that is bobbed to 3.5 inches. A real treasure. But I'd rather carry my 6.5 inch model 29 for bear country because I think the shorter barrel might lose too much balistic efficiency (aka fps and terminal energy) for a grizz or brown. What do you think.

  • Anybody out there selling a gun like this??

  • This really makes me want to live in a free state. When hickok said, "Sold it to a friend" he would be arrested for a felony if he were in CA. ALL transactions there must go through a FFL dealer along with the proper fees and waiting period.

  • I have looked through your videos and haven't found any where you compare the following:

comparing stainless and blued finishes in revolvers or semi-auto handguns, which is better or worse in what ways?

comparing S&W revolvers, like .44 Magnum, with those made by Ruger. I read somewhere that S&W revolvers are forged and Ruger revolvers are cast. Is this true? Better yet, do you already have a video covering tihs or do you plan to have one soon?

Thanks for your videos. I like your style.

  • i'd like it a lot better with a 4" barrel

  • What do you think about Police using Revolvers in today's world? I live in Chicago and our police aren't allowed to carry revolvers of any kind. and I've always figured a snub nose 38. Special or .357 mag would be ideal as back up pistols.

  • So small yet so powerful

  • how much ? $

  • Taurus is a good handgun maker , isn't it? (Taurus is brazilian, I'm brazilian, and I want to know)

  • @Frankozoid10 they are very under-rated. especially there triggers. I used to think that taurus triggers were bad too until i went to a gunshop and dry fired a taurus model 66 and was amazed! it was better than some smiths! They are also reasonably priced.

  • @mcmikeblues Hmmmm, thank you !

  • do you have a 357 !!! make a video

  • @ns400a , How about several that I've already made?

  • @ns400a Yeah, Hickok45, Get off your duff and make a video why don't you. You just can't make a video on a snubby .44 S&W and not make any other video's as if the snubby .44 was the only gun in the world. Make a video on some other guns too. But on a serious note, I love these little .44 mags. I've got two blue steel 4". One is crazy, it's 28-2 Model in 44 mag. The story behind it is that it was a German Special Police Issue gun, this actual gun. Nickle cylinder, blue steel gun.

  • you're my favorite old guy

  • hey hickok you should do a chapter 2 on this trail boss 44 mag

  • really enjoy learning about the guns

  • S&W key locks are gay!

    Bring back these great guns.

  • Just jump to 11:20 too see him shooting!

  • @musto94, Better yet; go to another channel where there's no talking, just cartoons and excitement! No boring firearms information / education! :-)

  • @hickok45 Epic!

  • @hickok45 you're fuckin' right man! keep going, love your videos

  • My friend has a Model 29 with 3" Barrel, Its his favorite carry gun. He uses a Galco S1h shoulder holster and runs Corbon .44+P Special 135gr Glaser Saftey slugs

  • Very nice gun, I have the 629 in the 6in barrel but I really like the looks of that one!

  • its not the most powerful hand gun the 500. magnum

  • @ajdrig the pfeifer zeliska .600 is the most powerful handgun in the world

    it fires .600 nitro express

  • @uckersas thats a fuckin elephant gun

  • @ajdrig its still considered a handgun

.700 nitro express is when shit gets powerful

  • @uckersas That's not a production revolver, though. I believe the most powerful revolver that you can buy is a .500 S&W Magnum.

  • @SecretService80 it is purchasable

you can buy it for $16000

    each round costs $40

its obtainable but very expensive to fire

  • man you're a cool dude

  • i want that beasty

  • no its a 44 taurus there is a scene were it shows the side of the barrelt close up

  • @Joeyal123f, You all talking about Dirty Harry? He carried the S & W Model 29. I don't think Taurus has any .44s at that time. I'm not sure they were even making handgun during the early Dirty Harry movies.

  • @hickok45 in the movie it was a Snub nose

  • @hickok45 Would you recomend a Taurus Raging Bull?

  • @Joeyal123

I can see the smith and wesson stamp on the side kiddo.

  • @rgdrumlove Ok my bad maybe your eyes is better than mine i do were glasses LOL

  • "Most powerful hand gun in the world" dirty harry

  • the hardest parts for me to clean on a revolver is the forcing cone and the front of the cylinder, it seems i can never get all the burnt powder off, any suggestions?

  • @auradud3, Ballistol works for me and has for about 11 years.

  • @hickok45 do you have to cock the hammer back every time you fire? I haven't seen a .44 video where they just keep pulling the trigger mechanism like a pistol.

  • @fuscian let me answer that for you, no you dont. its a double action revolver. its just a little easyer to pull the hammer back.

  • dont rob his house he always strapped

  • I take that back it was not the same brand it was a Taurus but same style of 44

  • The rock Used this exact same type of 44 magnum in the Movie Faster

  • @Joeyal123 - I thought he used a .454 alaskan in that movie ?

  • Rumor has it that Mr Hickok's Videos are so informative ,entertaining and he is such a likable fellow , that Sarah Brady has candidly stated she is a huge fan ! ;)

  • how much did this cost you hickok? ive been wanting one for a couple years now but usualy end up going with a glock haha

  • i have a question for you "DO YOU FEEL LUCKY PUNK" well do you !!

  • S&W 500 is somewhat scary to look at. Wouldnt mess with the police man with one of those on his hip!

  • @SuperFretShredder I would.

    But I am insane.

    XP

  • @naedanger123 join the club. but if you really are insane you will have no trouble finding since in the fact that my cantaloupe was shot down by a bird that didnt have a name!

  • Hickok you always have good close-ups good job Lol

  • what's the difference between a model 29 and a 629?

  • @chibicascade the model 29 has a nickle or blued finish while the 629 has a stainless finish the 629 is in production while the 29 is not

  • a .500 is the most powerful, js.

  • @Otaybay hes quoting dirty harry the character harry callahan said it was the most powerful handgun and at the time of the movie the 44 was the most powerful

  • Normally i hate revolvers with short barrels, but now that you showed me one, i'm in love.

  • nice gun, with 44. special silvertip hollw points it would be a good self defense gun for two legged critters.

  • @hickok45 are u a gun dealer? where u get all those guns? are you preparing for a zombie attack? :P i am so jealus i would like t shoot all this guns my self!

  • hickok45@ are u a gun dealer? where u get all those guns? are you preparing for a zombie attack? :P i am so jealus i would like t shoot all this guns my self!

  • i like that gun:)

  • how can weapons be so sexy?

  • Damn, that's a hitch-hiker's thumb from hell! LOL sweet pistol.

  • 31 people dont like Dirty Harry

  • Why is the steel bent behind the cylinder on the left side?

  • @killalot4 I'm not sure what the correct term for it is but it's bent to make room for the "cylindar locking pin" to slip in and out of the frame. When you push the cylindar release and roll the cylindar out, the "locking pin" is not completely flush - it protrudes slightly.

  • in dirty harrie clint eastwood used a 357.smith and wesson

  • @Xxnate500 he used a 44 magnum model 29 smith and wesson not a 357

  • FN FAL ?

  • will u do some 50.cal video ?

  • awsome gun nice shooting

  • when you die...who gets your guns?

  • @NXTneocube Not you, that's fer damn sure.

  • @NXTneocube really?

  • @mkultra2300 im not saying its anytime soon...im just asking...jeez guys

  • does a snub nose on a revolver ever affect its performance? or does it not really do anything?

  • @Gphazor Accuracy is dependent on the person holding the gun. A snub nose has a shorter sight radius (the distance from the front sight to the rear sight) so it can be more difficult to shoot accurately, but it doesn't necessarily make the gun less accurate. As far as performance is concerned, a shorter barrel means less velocity. This makes a considerable difference when shooting a round like the .38 special, but with a .44 magnum it doesn't really matter.

  • Is this the only clip of the 3 inch 44? is there a chapter 2?great vid!

  • muito bom

  • The .500 S&W is cool but its more of a novelty gun. I love the .44 because its comfortable to shoot and you don't have to play like $2/bullet like you do with the .500 s&w.

  • do you think a 14 year old that is pretty small could handle this gun?

  • @StraightOutRuthless With practice, possibly. The first handgun I shot was a .357 magnum when I was 13. Then again, I'm not small. As with any gun, it depends on the feel. I can shoot my .40 Sig P226 and .45 long colt just fine, but struggle to keep a grouping with a 1911 pistol. I would start with a .357 first. Unless someone has been shooting their whole life, even a .357 is a bit overwhelming, especially the first time.

  • I have a .44 Mag w/ a 8 3/8" barrel. It's an old single action Interarms Virginian Dragoon. Not a Smith, but none the less a nice, heavy built revolver, at least I think so. I am really starting to crave a 4" .44 though. So if you have any your looking to get rid of, you know who to send a message to. ;-)

  • a .50 ae pistol is a lot more powerful as well as a 500 magnum

  • @bobbert890 nope it's not! .500 magnum has 350-grain with muzzle velocity of 1975 feet per second while 50ae has 325 Grain with muzzle velocity of 1450 feet per second. .500 magnum kicks hard than 50ae :)

  • @bobbert890 actually the .44 Magnum loads are often very comparable in muzzle velocity and energy to a .50AE, and sometimes more energetic if you have a hot load JHP.

  • I know that in the States noncriminel people are allowed to bear guns, but I allways wondered how many guns are a man allowed to bear? 1 or 2 or morer?

  • Mr Hickok. You sir are my idol.

  • Bonecollector, look into some of the hot CorBon loads. I prefer the hard cast wadcutters from Buffalo Bore in my .357 for when im inna woods those would get the job done around here but I dont live to far from Hickok so its not exactly grizzly country. Father in Law has a Smith 460XVR but it makes my wrist hurt just to look at it.
