  • My grandma would sing this song and "Play in Your Own Backyard" and we would all be bawling by the time she got through.

    Love and miss you, Grandma!

  • one of the all time greats.so different to the modern rubbish.you can hear and feel every word.

  • Unfortunely this song pertains to a lot kids anymore , Isn't it sad that children are our future and nobody seems to care anymore about them. God help them and us.

  • my dads song xxx

  • A great singer and a great Canadian, he was my Dads favorite singer, and yes Dad was a Canadian ;)

  • The first time I heard this song was in the late 50's and it was sung to me by a little blind girl. Since then I have heard it sung by a number of singers but Hank Snow's version beats them all.

  • Sad that Hank had to live this song, just goes to show you can rise above anything R.I.P. Hank

  • wow this always gives me goose bumps

  • This is great ,this is real country music.

    From Holland, IJnte

  • NO one sings this better Thanks Hank

  • What a credit this man was to traditional country music. I would rate among the founders of true Country, he certainly could sing that style.

  • This song and Mary Across The Wild Moor was two of my dads favorite songs. I was only 7 years old but dad would get me to sing these songs for him. I think i knew every song that Hank sang and still do. You never forget the good things.

  • I REMEMBER PLAYING THIS SONG IN THE FIFTIES ON THE OL' RCA VICTOR CRANK UP RECORD PLAYER . IT MOVED ME THEN AND IT STILL DOES. SURE BRINGS BACK MEMORIES. HANK SNOW IS THE GREATEST.

  • @opolara1 I remember hearing it on the wonder bar radio in my 50's coupe deville

  • My CM hero - best in the business

  • Brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear this song!

  • Oh get way, Tracey! Like you go back that far! Do ya think my reference to Thomas Tallis will have the folks scrambling for Google?

  • TANGCHOSUN 1, IF IT WAS RELEASED IN 1070 THEN THOMAS TALLIS WOULD PROBABLY HAVE DONE A GROOVY COVER VERSION 500 YRS LATER! AS IT 'APPENS (GUYS AND GALS), THIS SONG WAS FIRST RECORDED IN 1949 BY THE GREAT MAN HERE (HE DID NOT WRITE IT, HOWEVER) - SO PENDAWS WOULD INDEED HAVE HEARD IT 55 YEARS AGO.

  • @sjmachrihanish

That's right. I remember listening to a record of Hank doing this song way back, when I was a little kid. It was also issued on a 45 rpm years later, which is what I played on my mother's stereo.

  • Pendaws, you couldn't have heard it 55 years ago. The original version (sung by Karen Young) was released in 1070.

  • Nobody's Child has been sung by many artists and all leave an impression. It is a classic. Sad song, makes my heart hurt.

  • brings me bac

  • What a wonderful song, I remember hearing this about 55 years ago.

  • my mom sang to me when i was a small child i remeber every word

  • Our dad use to sing this song to us when we were kids.

  • Did he write this song? Is this song that old?? I only knew the awesome version of the Travelling Wilburys. It's a great song...

  • I can relate to this song, I was an orphan child at the age of five until I was Eight yerar old. I'am now sixty seven years young and still find that hard to bear .

IT IS A SONG MANY CANADIANS , carry in their Backbacks todoat , no-matter where they Serve !!!

  • You might of been brought up in an orpanage, Get a life, you are the dickhead. Hank Snow was one of the greatest country singers that ever lived. It is because you don't know anything about country music. Hank Snow didn't have a bad bone in his body. He cared abouty people like you.
