tellez re tracked for double album by david margen....not lear.. anyway Moon-unit was not as good as summer of 75 santana which still to me draws on every strength carlos had found in world music/sounds..with patillo a surprise brazil flavour, vibe, both at keys and mike; peraza anchoring; ndugu acceptable altho intrusive in place of shrieve or gaylord birch, these the masters in that chair
1245102 sound's right to me, although I was only about one at the time :-)... Either way; that's definitely Graham Lear and Gaylord Birch drummed on the album.
Much of this tour was recorded and appeared on the Moonflower album. Luther Rabb's vocals were overdubbed in the studio by Greg Walker.
The late Luther Rabb was the lead singer and bass player for Ballin' Jack. Then went on to play bass with War.
Chepito Areas was replaced by Pete Escovedo, and Pablo Telles by Graham Lear in the studio tracks of Moonflower. This was a double album, half live and half studio.
If I recall correctly on this tour. Gaylord Birch only drummed on the album FESTIVAL, but for the tour, they brought in Graham Lear, and on bass was Pablo Tellez who again was on the album & on tour for about a year or so then was replaced by David Margen. Then the whole band went on to record the album MOONFLOWER which included live tracks from the FESTIVAL tour plus, MOONFLOWER material. No matter how ya role the dice, they were all astounding players. Anyways, I hope it helps. Cheers.
Brother, that drummer is not Gaylord Birch. That's Graham Lear! A bad ass young drummer at this time! Thank you for this video!

On drums, Michael Shrieve, the 19 year old Woodstock prodigy. [cf. Soul Sacrifice and his legendary solo].
