I think you have to consider that Richrad one of the few famous black people, at the time, who actually got to go To Africa and and come back to to "report" about it on such a grand scale. So he Does get the credit for laying the frame work for this bit. Now that experience, although not new, Is "traumatizing" to the senses and even with Richard Saying 1st, it impacted Jamie So much that it warrented a heavy reiteration and personal testimony as to why it is/was so important

Yes, It's stolen! The entire HBO special that this is taken from had tons stolen from Pryor. There is no doubt about it. That's why it doesn't air on HBO anymore. There's a reason he's not doing standup any more. I was outraged when it first aired. By the way when people say everyone steals from Pryor they are talking about his style, openness to talk about anything, and the honesty of his act. He changed standup forever.

Every comedian is influenced by Pryor, who is one/ if not the greatest comic mind ever but this ain't the same. The premise is similar, but every comic has different styles. It's a good bit nevertheless.

I got a ton respect for Lenny, he's a pioneer in the comedy world and always will be. You're forgetting that he died in 1966, and that's when Richard got bigger and came into his zone. Also look at the styles and backgrounds.

Lenny was from New York and Jewish.

Richard grew up in Peoria, Illinios and was black.

They're both amazing comedians, but Richard is the one of the biggest names who influenced most modern day comedians.

Both men shared the same experience, "separately" there are obvious differences in their expression of it. But since they are storytellers the art is to make the audience feel what they felt. Richard Pryor said the funk was "O" dear instead of "Odor", Jamie said we just call it "Got Damm." So we ain't gone say he stole the joke. We gone say we need to go to Africa and see what they both experienced, that was so lovely if the mothafucka smell like that.
