New technology(WebRTC) is being developed that essentially allows for video chat and interactive video streams(think OnLive) in the browser, without a plugin. This should be included in Chrome during Q1 2012.

This essentially means that you could use Google's video chat(Google Talk in Gmail, or Hangouts in +) and OnLive-style games service in Chrome very soon.
