  • You are so right. I have locs now and I love them and always wanted them but at times I miss my mini fro from when I did the BC. God bless your hair looks beautiful!

  • What products do you use?!?! I've been natural for about 2 years too now and my hair isn't that long. I'M JELLY!!!!

  • Nice hair, love the earrings ! been natural for a year now & it's the best way to grow your hair. Hope to speak with you. Have a good day

  • keep up

  • Your hair rocks.

  • U r rocking that fro!

  • u hav a husband?

  • Ive been transitioning from perm to natural nd im inspired by this video. Im only 15 nd i feel like a lot frands even other black girls will not understand why I want to do this. I want to learn to love my natural hair nd take care of it. Thanks a lot:D

  • Well I just basically bc 10/21/2011 and I have got a lot of negative comments from my sister. A friend of my told me Saturday, let me buy you a wig so that you can look like you use to. Other people do not say any thing but I can tell from the way they look they do not like the way I look with my twa. It is discouraging a little bit, but I am always inspired when I listen to videos like yours to keep moving forward. Thanks.

  • I'm thinking of the big chop. I'm going to be honest with myself and say that I am scared but I want to do this. I'll be using your videos as my inspiration :)

  • Love your hair, but I get intimidated with the thought a walking around with big hair. What kind of reactions have you gotten?

  • Lol you people are nuts... just chill and enjoy... let people do them worry about yourself... BlackOnyx77 do the damn thing i love your hair

  • people are so annoying who comment on blackonyx videos like stop haten yall take everything she say to heart shut up no wonder she was always talking about negativity coming from comments on her videos she's just showing her hair journey &things she found out that works for her hair if yall dont like it dont watch the videos&how can you dislike this video? shes showing her hair growth make ya own damn youtube videos like her then and show what you kno so we can judge yu & wat yu sayn.

  • I was transitioning for 51/2 months so far; my plan was to transition for at least a year before I did the big chop. After seeing your video, you inspired me so much that I went home after work and chopped my bra length hair right off. I love it and it is truly beautiful. Thank you for sharing your story; it is truly a spiritual journey and I feel a change going on everyday; with my hair and my inner beauty is coming to the surface. I am so excited and looking forward to what life brings me.

  • I really don't think she ever said she was more enlightened than anyone. Nor did she say God likes her natural hair better. She simply stated that going natural encouraged her to think out of the box and not be so afraid to be a nonconformist. That Is also HER journey. The journey is different and means different things to everyone so font discredit her because her journey is different than yours.

  • when u say keep moisture in natural hair does that mean I have to keep my hair wet, with moisture( such as care free curl activator) or oil in it AT ALL TIMES? so when it dries (like every 2 - 3 hours) I have to put more in my hair?

  • @keelathebee no, what it means is to use and moisturising leave in conditioner use whatever styling natural hair product and seal with an oil. then your hair should stay moisturized. Look at Kimmaytube, taren916, naptural85, denimpixie, tastiredbone, nikkimae2003, longhairdontcareLLC, dearnaptural85, ninapruitt. There is a lot out there. Plus read, The Science Of Black Hair, it is very knowledgeable and join different natural hair forums, blogs and groups.

  • how do you detangle your hair

  • your natural hair is flawless sista

  • right now I am transitioning without the BC and right now I have a whole head weave in my hair for two weeks and this is like the third week and Im taking it out at the end of the week....so I cant wait to see how my hair has grown out from the straighten ends. thanks for the vid :)

  • I love being natural, you inspired me to cut off my loc extensions, and permed hair thanks so much blackonyx

  • So True. I loved my blackness as a permed girl but I feel that I am making such a positive statement about us as a people by saying I am not afraid of who I AM (not saying permed girls are), Take me for who I am!!!! I love being natural!!!!

  • So True. I loved my blackness as a permed girl but I feel that I am taking sure a positive statement about us as a people by saying I am not afraid of who I AM, Take me for who I am!!!! I love being natural!!!!

  • Girl you almost made me cry!! I just did the BC 7/11/11 and I am just...loving it!!! I can't explain it but this is me! This hair, this do, this whole package is the real and natural me!! My family loves it, I love it, black people love it, white people adore it, and it's just my twa! Oh the things I'll be able to do when it grows! I am so thankful that we as black women are coming out of the relaxed closet and are saying...why am I doing this to myself? What's wrong with the way I naturally am?

  • Yes I totally agree with you, my hair was a good length when I cut out all the permed about 2 weeks ago since I was growing it out for 9 months before then...but my confidence is much higher and I'm like addicted to being natural and I LOVE IT. This is a spiritual journey for me as well and I'm so glad I did it :)

  • Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww girlllll!!! I just did my big chop a week ago and I can only imagine my hair being that longggg

  • Love your comments, I am 5 1/2 natural and it's been interesting. But you are so right, it really makes you realize you can be much more in more ways than just your hair, you don't have to be limited by anyone's perception, not even your own. Thanks for sharing! Very nice :)

  • what does it look like now cuz this vid is 2 years old

  • you have just verified my decision to go natural... ur hair looks lovely i cant wait to get my afro back, goodby breaky splitty dry high maintanance relaxed hair, i cant say will miss you

  • Im going natural but Im full figured and to me wearing my hair short is not a good look(for me) but since I stopped perming my hair about 4 months ago, will letting it grow out until Im ready to cut it, is that a bad idea and just FYI I love all of your videos.

  • @sweetied4u hunny its ur hair do what u want if i wud u i wud rock that TWA i did it it did alot for my confidence and i aint skinny i got me some big earrings some lipgloss held my head high and put that TWA to work with my hips lol work it lol....ur beautiful and full figured celebrate that sexy body and update me ok hun lol

  • You have beautiful hair!

  • I have officially shared this video all over Facebook and Twitter. Very uplifting and inspriational. I've been natural since 2005 but I am still always learning new things. Some of my friends and family have had difficulties (so have I) but people like you keep us going. Thanks girl and God Bless =)

  • You are so the bomb, thanks for sharing!

  • wow this is awsome!!

  • Thank you for sharing. Your information is great and much needed.

  • How do u know if you have breakage with your bleach hair

  • Your lucky you have naturals in your family, I don't have any with the exception of my sister and she keeps her short like a guy. Every else acts as if they don't know that they were born with nappy hair.

  • Very inspirational! Thank you! :)

  • i wish u could cut my hair ;-) dont trust my hairstylists here in switzerland ;-) youre amazing!

  • Your hair looks so great in this video!

  • I love your hair, you are very adorable, God bless you!

  • would you suggest someone with thing hair going natural?

  • @pebbles8482 Hi, I have thin/fine hair and when I went natural 2 years ago I've noticed my hair looks a lot better and fuller this way than when it was relaxed - it looked so limp, like I only had 3 hairs on my head. Hope that helps!

  • Wondering if you did regular trims during your 2yrs?

  • i love you!!! it feels really good i know

  • I hope i get the same response in a year from my husband i would b sooo proud if he called my big hair a wig that means progress lol

  • Very inspiring and uplifting....our black is beautiful!

  • I love this song because of her!!!!!

  • OMGGGG your so prettyyy.. You've definitely inspired me to start goin natural.. I hav the worst hair damage everrr from perms, I have noooo edges, like the perimeter of my head is GONE :-(. I'm having trouble growing it back but I really dont wanna start all over by shaving my head so do you have any ideas on helping my edges grow? The middle of my head grows really fast and I want the edges to catch up. thanks

  • @superoverage look for videos on castor oil and natural hair. i did castor oil massages on my edges and i couldnt believe it helped them grow back in after so long

  • hey girl i want to ur hair product cause my hair dry a lot please give me ur webside but i live in Canada i don't how much u gonna charge me i will pay for it i want hair moisteriser please please. thanks

  • hi girl i have a question i love your hair... i dont have perm hair anymore. but does being natural mean you dont wear weaves or just not perming your hair?. how often do you press your hair cause i wear weaves and i only leave some hair out its not permed my natural hair is it still going natural if you wear weave?

  • @atiena925 there are a lot of other natural women on youtube that rock their natural hair but also wear occasional weaves and flat iron their hair. check out phillydiva on youtube

  • i was thinkin for january i was gonna chop my hair and start this process... i mean i wear natural looking styles but why not let it be my hair..lol i told my friend i was gonna do this on her bday.. as 2011 will be my year for closure.. on all aspects in my life..

  • I look at my journey as spiritual as well! The first time I let others have an impact on my choice but this time around after 3 years I will NEVER get a relaxer again!!!!

  • Wow your hair grew so fast! Im latina but I love the fact that you embraced yourself and your natural beauty. Beauty comes in all different ways and us women should stop trying to fit into this "perfect barbie" mold that is unrealistic and start embracing ourselves for who we are. Your confidence is inspiring and it shines through in your personality. Thanks for being you !

  • i love my natural hair!!! been natural for 3 yrs this is my 2nd time going natural smh... i love my natural but keep weave in it. hey dont judge me. i wear natural/my own hair a lot and i press it to cut split ends but i sew in weave to not touch my hair. your hair is lovely. maybe i wear weaave cause idk what styles to actually wear but a ponytail

  • your hair sooo Black :)

  • I've chopped my hair 3 days ago and i now i hav quickweave on but i am so excited doe!

  • I am 9 months natural people! YAY this lady inspired me.... I LOVE MY NATURAL CURLY HAIR, THANKS MISS :)

  • How cool we big chopped on the same day. My big chop was October 9 2010! I was nervous but I love it, FREEDOM!

  • It's exactly a year to the date, let's see your new length! :)

  • such a lovely young lady old head on young shoulders, thanks for your inspirational words. I have just done my second BC 2 weeks ago and I am encouraged by hearing all you have to say about how quickly it grows. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your posts

  • u have some good hair

  • i love you girl! you are truly an inspiration to those of us who have recently chosen to go natural!

  • u r sooo pretty!!!

  • LOVE it! Re-did my BC 2 weeks ago. Been rocking natural for 15+ yrs. Had locs for 6yrs.

  • i have been natural for 7 months now.. i cant wait for 2 years to come around, im very excited!! you are such an inspiration..

  • @iamnotokay24 Two years happens in a flash. XD I'm near the end of my 2nd year and man has time flown. I didn't even realize my hair was longer until I looked at photos of my big chop and now my hair is at near Angela Davis level! Good luck on your journey.

  • LOVE IT!! I did my big chop today after a week of watching YouTube Videos!! It felt so LIBERATING...and I'm loving my curls...cant keep from touching it!!

  • #inspired :) my two year will be Feb 2010

  • love the hair! nd u r to cute! btw where did u get the earrings? i love them plz tell me >.<

  • HI BlackOnyx. You are on of my favorite natural hair diva. You have inspired me so much throughout my natural hair journey. I am so happy that you are now 2 years natural and want to congratulate you on your sucess.

  • Love you girl.. Beautiful hair.

  • Cute style. Cute story about you & your hubby. My hubby is still not sure how he feels about me going natural. I think he'll like it. Transitioning 10 months now.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you....I'm soooo happy you made this viedo!

  • Omg Your Hair Was So Cute !!! Lol

  • YOU LOOK GREAT :) <3 <3 <3

  • Gorgeous rockin' Fro!

  • I LOVE YOUR HAIR.....LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR HAIR.

  • I can't do a big chop. But it's been 6months since a relaxer...and I'm really excited. I'll definitely go back and forth though between straightening it and wearing it in afro type styles. I kno who I am and I just like switchin it up.

  • @7ldy I completely agree ! I am on my natural journey, BUT I CANT DO A BIG CHOP ! Lol . Glad I am not the only one ! I am 5 months into this !

  • IMO, I DO think wearing hair naturally makes you BETTER than processed hair. 1) Blacks haven't ALWAYS thought it normal to habitually process hair. It's learned behavior reinforced with negative reinforcement. 2) Chemical alterants for the most part, are toxic as is much of black thought about who we are. 3) Almost all folks that relax their hair are more uneasy with what natural hair reflects more than what it is.

  • @bintasyllah Yup. Agreed with #3. I used to be that way too.

  • @bintasyllah soooooo well said.

  • @bintasyllah I think that this is a very sad statement. My hair is natual, but these statements about processed hair is what makes the natural vs processed problem. Natural people are better than processed people???? I think that is hate! IMO

  • @kplife2001 I'm not surprised that you think it's sad. I've been wearing my hair natural for 20 years. I'm 35. Wearing natural hair as a teenager in the 90s was HARD. It's funny that people get so 'sensitive' about how things really are. REREAD WHAT I WROTE. NOT WHATEVER IMPLICATIONS YOU INTEND TO EXTRAPOLATE. I said that natural hair makes you BETTER than processed HAIR. Do you think that relaxed hair via chemical treatment HAS the same value??? The chemicals are LITERALLY toxic. FACT.

  • @bintasyllah "IMO, I DO think wearing hair naturally makes you BETTER than processed hair." I think I read it correctly. All I am saying is that as a natural woman myself I wish that there wasn't always a feeling of natural vs. relaxed. I wish everybody could just respect everybody's decisions about themselves whether or not they agree with them. I did not mean to offend you. Sorry.

  • @bintasyllah No disrespect but that's a bunch of bullshit. Having natural hair does not mean that you are more enlightened than a sister who has a relaxer and to think that it does reveals how shallow and limited one or you specifically are in your thinking. God doesn't give a fuck about what's on top of your head. It is about whats in your heart. I've been natural, big chopped many of times and relaxed on and off for many of years and i embrace every bit of the change. It's only hair damn.

  • @nwest2fly No disrepsect? God? AMAZING how you use so many contradictions and such language and God. God may not care what's on your head, but he definitely cares what comes out of your mouth. If your speech is a reflection of who you are. So God would want me to heap burning coals upon your head. And I will. I love you. Have a good day.

  • This helps. I just did my BC Sept 1st, 2010 and I am seeing such quick growth. I was skin bald. I was desperate to just get the chemicals out. I feel great and I looking to the future.

  • What hair care products are best for natural hair?

  • great growth..imma go ahead and do my 2nd big chop...thanks for the inspiration..

  • I've been natural 1 year 8 months, but my hair hasn't grown much in the last year :/

and the back of my head doesn't grow at all!

regardless I would never "go back" I love my hair =)

  • @RifaiM Have you tried eating more fruits and fresh veggies? Also you may want to add some vitamins in the mix too. All that plays a role in growing your hair out faster. Treat your body like a machine, put some fuels in it and watch it grow grow grow. lol

  • I just transitioned as of August 2010 & I love it! I cut mine all off, as you did your's... Beautiful hun & I love the video.....

  • LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEE

  • I DID THE BIG CHOP TODAY!!!! YIPPIE!!!!

  • @Lalahbug

I just did mine two weeks ago! How are you doing with it?? I absolutely love it.

  • @Lalahbug CONGRATS!!

  • Your earrings add to natural hair beauty. Like you I had color in my hair but it only thins out my hair, and now I am letting it grow it. Other than the color my hair is natural.

  • WHERE CAN I BUY UR HAIR PRODUCTS?! lol I hav natural hair & am always lookin 4 products, please fill me in :(... I lov the videos, Keep it up. thanks ; )

  • WHERE CAN I FIND UR PRODUCTS!!?? lol please let me kno where to find em, Im natural & always lookin 4 products. Love the videos keep it up. Thanks ;) - 100%Bella

  • I love natural hair also and ...after looking at the vids of girls with the virgin indian hair for like hundreads of dollars. I really dont miss that, it's so expensive to run after an image that dont belong to you.

  • I haven't relaxed my hair in months. Natural hair is indeed the best.

    =)

  • I love your video. And you're right, going natural is a spiritual journey. I b/c'd in April and I feel so much more in tune with myself. My hair is growing like crazy!! Thanks for the vid's!!

  • What exactly is your hair regimen?

  • Your videos are very inspiring. I have been natural for about 8 months and it has been emotional. My hair is not growing as fast as i would like it to but watching your videos give me hope. • LOL@tiny wini afro. I had my 1st BC May 1st, 2010. I was sad. I've never dealt with my hair natural before. Not since I was in kindergarten & my mom did it then. Now I'm over here watching your videos so I can understand how to take care of it.

I have pic from my 9th month and Im telling you honey I feel you on the natural feeling. I think Im going to do a video for my 1st year anniversary.

  • I can totally relate to the color thing. I had to cut some inches off from that too. Congratz on your healthy head of hair ^_^

  • you come across so sincere. All the best with your hair and your company :-)

  • Ok, I guess i shoulda waited till the end of the video lol.

  • What's the name of the earrings you have on in this vid? I loveeeee them! Are they on ur site?

  • Yes! It's soooooo true. I've learned soo much about myself. I totally know what you're saying. I love it, but some of my friends hate it. When I look in the mirror, I LOVE myself....I wanna says it weird but it's me...I've grown spirituallly too. I really really love it and I LOVE who I am even more.

  • @sparkledust7788 I agree!!!When I BC it felt like a weight was lifted off of me.Now I focus on being a better person,no drama from men, focus on school, and getting healthy. Its the best thing I ever did!!

  • Love ur energy. I've been looking at a lot of videos and I hate anything over 8 minutes. I'm always like "get to the point already" . You kept me engaged for the whole 13 minutes. Thanks I'm inspired.

  • Wow...you sound just like Rihanna lol..love your hair!

  • omg i love messing with the color of my hair too. I had to put down the harsh bleach and colorants too.

I'm actually trying natural lighteners now, like honey, lemon juice and cinnamon. I'm throwing these in my deep conditions, shampoos etc separately or in conjunction with each other. I'm gonna try henna when my cassia is done for some red undertones. It's gonna take some time but I will incorporate it often and not worry about damage since it's so mild.

    Jah Bless ma chile

  • i REALLY MISS MY TWA SO I FEEL YA

  • OMG! Your hair is beautiful. I just celebrated my one year anniversary. I can't wait until my 2 year mark!

  • you're great :-)

  • WOW your hair grows fast! tell me how you did it !

  • There is no beauty like the Mother of the Universe in her natural state, period. All of european royalty and wearing of the crown is meant to imitate your natural gift. Your hair reaches for the sun because the sun reaches for you love.
