Actually from what i heard it was SEGA who took him off the credits and remixed a few songs (the PC version has completley different music for a few levels) because of the stuff that was coming out from the press about him
The music sounded poor because of the limitations of the music quality for games at the time.Besides they have to disguise it or it won't sound like original Sonic music.Anyone with me here?

that's not the reason at all he wasn't credited. the contracts were made void and michael was removed the sonic company because of the child molestation allegations. but of course, they wouldn't say that.
