  • Ah, House in his younger days. He always was unconventional.

  • My first thought was, "Whelp, there goes Stephen Fry's penis. Damn."

My second thought was, "...but I'm a girl anyway. Fuck it all."

  • I can imagine House MD doing this skit as a joke on a patient ^^

  • "Who needs genitals when you have-- a gun?"

  • " And I stress the word IMPO- silent R- TANT!"

  • Hugh Laurie as a doctor, that'll never catch on,

  • @fritspas He's the main character on House M.D., a doctor..

  • @3dgnaruto1 It was a very witty joke...

  • @weirdlightsaber44 Oh gotcha'..hehe

  • @3dgnaruto1 Yes. That was the joke

  • @3dgnaruto1 Oh wow....

  • @fritspas - I agree, he hasn't got a House in Hells chance! :-D

  • This is where the idea of Dr House appeared!!!

  • I love Fry and Laurie,

But Dobermans are the most soppy breed of dog I've ever owned!

I had one that was scared of the dark once!

Awesome sketch...made even better by cute dog...lol

  • Love the close up on the dog's face "You got to be kidding me!"

  • this was his training for house. lol

  • While I do prefer his "House" stuff over anything else, I do agree that this stuff is pretty funny. (the 101 dalmatians bit wasnt quite as good)

  • as much as i love fry and laurie, someone has to make a copy of this with houseisms dubbed in. that would be amazing XD

  • could someone please redo this scene but dub over all of hugh's lines with houseisms? i almost guarantee it would work, apart from the body language differences

  • Can't believe so many people on here admit to not knowing Laurie before House. Shut up and stop embarrassing yourselves.

  • @Clivepom

Maybe these people are too young to have seen A Bit of Fry and Laurie, so what's so wrong with admitting that really, they didn't know what Dr. House was up to before medical school? :D

  • @marmelaaden Yeah, because he certainly didn't star in Black Adder (far more popular than A Bit).

  • @Clivepom Well, not everyone followed Hugh Laurie's career before House. Maybe you should shut up and stop being so judgemental.

  • @oblivionsnightmare Thanks captain obvious, I'll judge who I like.

  • @Clivepom Where is the shame in that? It's too bad, but far from anything to be embarrassed about.

  • Strangely, no one even remembers that Hugh Laurie was the father in the Stuart Little movies as well.

  • @cpen22 i found that out earlier today actually. i was a little surprised at first o_O. and i wonder if many people remember that he was also in 101 dalmations :D

  • the random shots of various people talking into the camera on random stuff are hilarious

  • Don't forget that he was also brilliant in his role as Dr. Cockroach in the animated movie Monsters vs. Aliens!

  • Awesome. I've just had a cancerous ball removed and have sent this to friends and family to prove that I've got a sense of humour about it and intend to open the banter batting!

  • How about Laurie & Fry in Black Adder then?

  • I didn't know he was British, until I seen his first House interview on Ellen. I never paid attention to the various roles he played before, like the dad in Stuart Little and in the newest movie HOP. He plays the dad. I flailed my arse off when I heard his British accent. From there I watched all the seasons of Fry and Laurie, Jeeves and Wooster, Blackadder, Blackadder's: Christmas Carol (I advise everyone to start with that one, it's freaking great! Now I can just point out his voice anywhere.

  • House MD - The early years

  • I had no idea he was british. He is such a good actor that he sounds completely american as Dr House.

  • 26 people have dobermans

  • Laurie was so much better then, than now in this american money production (u know wich 1 I mean).

  • Thumbs up for the substitute genitals.

    Love it!

  • 2nd time I've seen this programme! First time I ever saw Laurie and knew who he was, was on House. I enjoy both his British and American roles. He's delightful and funny!

  • this is the first episode of house

  • *steals box* :3

  • Oh God this is so clever XD 'Oh yes, I'm sure killer will be up for that!'

  • i love how they make fun of douchebaggery in such a subtle, yet somehow direct way!

  • How ironic!

  • haha its house in his medical residency years!

  • oooh my god HILARIOUS

  • Thats the dogs bollix

  • Fry: Are you a Doctor?

    Laurie: No, but...

    Now...

    23 years later...

  • I FUCKING HATE house, it´s shite, and I care not one jot for anyone who may think differently.

  • @yatter1 Ok, but that's not House

  • @victorteles95 I know that, I´m just weary of people banging on about how good Hugh Lawrie is in House when I think he should do what he does best and come home and do comedy. And House is shit.

  • @yatter1 thats not house...thatts hugh laurie...get it right

  • @geico1212 what????????????????????????????

  • @yatter1 that guys name is hugh laurie you silly git.... not house

  • @yatter1 Its better known for being in Blackadder in Britain.

  • @Mattysmyth0593 I know who he is

  • Snuggly Stephen in bed =)

  • 25 Will And Grace fans.

  • THESE TWO ARE SO FUNNY, and Hugh Laurie is such a great actor ,he could play such a funny character and then play the role of House and do both so good, it's almost like two different people, he was very cute in these scenes in a boyish kind of way ,but he is one of those men when he got older he got so sexy, those eyes draw you in that voice (American or British), his lips, just him period he is so hot

  • lol This should be a required viewing for gun nuts in both America and Britain.

  • @valjorama The owning of guns would drop so drastically...

  • Hey !! He never wears a coat! He doesnt want the patients to know he is a doctor!^^

    Hugh Laurie rulesssss

  • i believe Hugh Laurie is being constantly called "House", because he's the perfect dude for that role... :))

  • Killer´s beautiful :D

and that last joke is hilarious XD

  • Well this is a sample (at Laurie's career) about what was coming (house md). Think about it. Why does laurie play the doctor at this sketch? Laurie's skills at that kind of acts (you know doctors & etc.) were shown from even that time. That's why House makes that succes

  • I believe this may be the original idea for the House television series, although the later version (House) may have taken a slightly more serious twist but this has yet to be proven.

  • @nyairorokidul2000 That's 100% wrong. The pilot script for House MD was written before anyone knew Hugh Laurie would be involved.

    -IMP ;) :)

  • The best sketch ever lmao! :D

It's like the prototype for house. Now, if only they'd cast Fry in a recurring role I might actually watch it.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAH, "the piss will be taken out of you constantly" EPIC. that was just an epic moment.

  • the thing about tv series is the lasting impression it has on actors/actresses

  • Laughter overload :)

  • Wait, did he say "important psychological 'crutch' or 'crotch'"?

  • In my opinion, this is one of their best sketches EVER. Seriously, from the moment when Hugh brought in the Dobermann, I was in hysterics. :D

  • Best punchline ever.

  • watch BLACK ADDER;)))) crazy crazy just crazy;))) the finest darkest british humor;))

  • League of Gentlemen was darker, in my opinion.

  • watch Snuff Box for rather dark humor

  • I prefer Fry and Laurie but yeah Blackadder is great.

    Tà sè go hiontach

  • Gan dabht, sin é an fírinne!

  • Sorry explain

  • I'm a bit too young to have seen A Bit of Fry and Laurie when it was on. Very glad to be catching up now.

    Very silly, very funny.

  • I take it Hugh Laurie had a little road rage with a Man in a white van, who had a dog in the back and was wearing a combat jacket...

  • Is that dog on Valium?

  • almost amusing misunderstanding

  • That was probably the greatest punchline I've ever heard.

  • Very good! Nice critique of stereotypical masculinity! Mr. Fry and Mr. Laurie are killer comedians! :D

  • I love that!

"When people see you in a combat jacket, driving around in a rusty white van with doberman in the back, the piss will be taken out of you constantly!"

  • They were best in Jeeves & Wooster!!! :o))

  • Well, a man could still have some fun without his genitals.

  • So uncanny that Hugh is (superficially) as uncaring and casual as when he plays House 20 years on!

  • you are right!

Think he'd meet up with Stephan and mack a new session when on a brack from house?

  • "...oh, hahahaha - what an almost amusing mis-understanding."

  • Stop calling Hugh Laurie "House". I can't believe that's the only thing he's known for, because he's done a lot more.

  • Yes, but most people in the US and Canada haven't seen him in anything else. I saw him in Black Adder when I was younger, but he's always going to be House to me because that's what I know him from.

It's not discrediting him or anything.

  • Not most people in Canada. :)

  • Well I live in Canada.. and from my observations, not many people have seen him in anything other than house.

  • like on black adder ! :)

  • @SpikyPooProductions whats house?

  • @SpikyPooProductions i agree, he much prefers bertie!!!

  • @SpikyPooProductions I still remember him from Black Adder and Jeeves and Wooster series.

  • @SpikyPooProductions I can't believe people call him House. He's the opposite of House. He's the anti-house.

  • @SpikyPooProductions And much better to some people. >.>

  • @SpikyPooProductions He's done a lot more, yes, but nothing so epically sexy.

  • @SpikyPooProductions Same like Socrates..Nobody knows what he taught but everybody knows he drank the conium...

  • @SpikyPooProductions He'll be known for House because it's been around for a long while now 8yrs coming this september... He has done a lot more before House... It's usually the longer roles that actors in TV Series like House which Hugh Laurie will be remembered most for...

  • Hahaha. That's phunny! :)

  • Finally! A skit where Hugh screws over Stephen! Sweet!

  • Is it just me, or is that a pretty small container? =P

  • I noticed that! :p

  • I don't watch House, but I thought the guy looked familiar from the promos on Fox.

  • yeah hugh laurry is house :d

    didn't you know ??

    gr xd

  • Uh... Yeah, i guess. His name's Hugh Laurie and he acts as house in the "House MD" series.

  • Hahaha "How ever will I manage?"

  • hahaha "oh, as you DIDN'T rightly say, yes" is great.

  • 1:20 "What an almost amusing misunderstanding!"

  • HILARIOUS!

  • that's what I like about the english language..

puns, that would never be possible in German :D

    just godlike

  • for sure this is possible in german, but its hard to translate it 1:1 between languages, but for some examples it works. so dubbing can be a hard work in this example, but from what i'm hearing here its easy to express in german too

  • ah come on, we do have puns, but german isn't as versatile as english, that's true ^^

  • And I stress the word...Important.

I love this sketch to death. One of most gorgeous pieces of social satire ever...and then the last line, the icing on the cake. :D

  • This is the business. More please.

  • House MD the pilot LOL

  • hahahahaah yes !!!

  • omg, hugh plays a doctor! lawl!

house is the best show ever!

  • I don't get the piss part

  • To take the piss out of someone: to make fun of them

  • "...the piss will be taken out of you constantly!"

ah, the sweet glory of the pun.

  • the next time i see someone with a doberman i might burst out laughing..

    lmao.

  • What an almost amusing misunderstanding.

  • oh dear.

oh, as you rightly say, dear.

    my genitals, oh no.

oh, as you didn't rightly say, yes.

(bit of a different bedside manner now wouldn't you say?)

  • "But what about making love?"

"Oh, Killer will do that for you, right boy?"

    lmao hilarious

  • I like the last little bit the best.

  • The beginning of house.......rofl

  • Lol this is how House must be in his early days as a doctor; apart from the accent :)

  • Not sure if its the two glasses wine - but nearly fell off my seat laughing.

  • I love Frys reaction to losing his genitals

    "......Oh Dear."

  • this is good,,,, i really think its pretty cool that he could say the funniest things............. and not laugh!!!!!

  • ahahahaha!!! good job dr. house!

  • zero1two9, ahahahaahah xD

  • clever and funny.

this should be a requisite sketch to watch to anyone who wants to buy a huge handgun or a military style rifles in america, or to anyone with a NRA membership card?

  • hey, if only thing you are doing is exercising your 2nd amendment right, not compensation for that certain SHORTcoming, why should my comment ruin this sketch for you?

think about that while also thinking about why the majority of gun owners, especially those who own military style rifles or more than one gun, are men, not women especially those men who have achieved very little in their lives. you're too transparent, alohafuzz.

  • Moew?

  • The best thing about this video was seeing a Doberman that wasn't mutilated by having its ears cropped the way they do here in America. Three cheers for England!

  • cropped?! what d'you mean "cropped"?!? cut off? seriously? like the tails, only the ears?

  • It's 'genitalia', not 'genitals'.

  • Read a dictionary. I mean an English dictionary, of course, but both plurals are acceptable.

  • "Genitals" is an acceptable word, but only in context. It is used here in a medical situation and "genitalia" is to be used.

  • Actually, I thought you'd realise I was joking. One can't actually have a "genital". In effect one has a pair of genitals (or genitalia). I apologise for any distress caused.

  • I don't really think it matters.

  • Of course it doesn't matter! Things that matter don't provoke this much debate!

  • I think perhaps genitalia would be used between medical professionals, but 'genitals' when addressing a patient, in case the patient is a Sun reader and can't cope with long words.

  • I was extremely upset, in fact I had to check to see if I had genitals or genitalia, imagine my suprise when I found all four.

  • what about a genital wart :<

  • okok. reproductive organ. happy?

  • Spot on! Agree completely.

  • ha So,this was when Dr. House was english, younger, and clean shaven.. roflmao nice clip

  • Yes, his name was Hugh Laurie and he's still english.

  • Much funnier than the US version

  • there's a US version?

  • wat??? there's a different version???

  • That doberman is a sleek looking beast!

  • LMAO that last line.

  • jajajaja

    yeah, man!

    I love Hugh and Fry!

  • Hugh Laurie is the best!

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahaha I LOVE IT!

  • "and I stress the word.. important"

    LOL

  • proably the first time Hugh Laurie played the role of a doctor.. aghh a great actor
