  • Since the sheets for this song were written in a way that makes them a bit hard to follow, I decided to try this.

Learned 80% of it in about half an hour. It sounds pretty intense, but it's very very easy to play once you remember the notes.

  • I actually learned how to play this quite easily from this video, bass notes and all. But, I have rather long hands, so, that may be the reason why I was able to reach all the notes more easily.

  • Using this tutorial and the solo tutorial by Muse4ever, I accomplished the unthinkable. I can now play Ruled By Secrecy!

  • Two days.

My hands are aching from stretching so far, the battery on keyboard is almost dead, my eyes are tired.

But I can play fifty seconds in. I feel accomplished.

  • i get confused after i do green parts. the blue is just making me confused. doesnt really show when to hit each note

  • still wrong at 1:18. Sorry just saying lol. Minor difference

  • could someone please tell me where can i download the midi file for this song?

  • @ GINGRASSMAN1

You actually CAN learn off this.

I just learnt it by playing and pausing this *repeatedly, in 20 minutes after school on their piano.

    TAKE THAT

  • Protip:

The easiest way of learning how to play stuff from synthesia-vids is to write down the notes played by left hand and right hand seperately and learning just a bit at a time - that's how I have learned from this video.

  • I hear nothing

  • è diversa dall originale xD

  • I love how the chords gradually fall apart. It just fits in perfectly with the mood of the song.

  • ótimo pra quem está iniciando no piano...mas contem erros...

  • ótimo pra quem está iniciando no piano...

  • may i ask: do you play yourself or do you get the computer to do it? I could understand if you got it to play the orange notes.

  • what program are you using?

  • @Failedemoboy Synthesia, google it its free :)

  • great video, a few mistakes:

on the first chord of the chorus theres no eb in that chord at the top.

on the eb major right before edim, the eb major turns into ebmaj7 after 2 bars

  • is blue left hand?

  • @Oanlitz2 yes :)

  • the color things dong match exactly

  • i love this song and yes i do agree that the melody is a little weak but oh well its still a great song

  • I heard this song live for the very first time back in march. Sent chills down my spine and made my hair stand on end.

  • great now i can play all muse piano songs except the gallery i dont supose anyone knows if theres a tutorial of that on youtube? anyway thanks alot!

  • beautiful song

  • could you please send me the midi file, or give me a download link or something, would be very much apreciated

  • Im only 14 and found this easy to learn from this video, I don't see what the problem is..

  • i am sitting with the genuine sheet music from a muse book in front of me here. hate to break it to you, but its still wrong in parts man.

  • Yeah Guitar Hero! lol just kidding. I love Muse with a passion...

  • one of my favourite chord progressions by muse. Although I think the melody is a bit weak (yes my personal opinion) I love the progression of the choice. It has such a feel to it ....like a bit dramatic, unpredictaible, just how I like my music....a bit like 'heavenly' like they have in some of their songs (chorus stockholm syndrome, chorus screenager)..all have that thing about them why I like muse. Does anyone know other bands with chord progressions like muse? (not radiohead) ?

  • @PowerRedBull Well if you're looking for chord progressions... Rachmaninoff. XD

  • @Xalmr haha, i agree with that

  • Comment removed

  • @PowerRedBull @PowerRedBull The Loneliness of a Tower Crane Driver by Elbow (my favorite band next to Muse) And yes, Rachmaninoff :)

  • @PowerRedBull Camel

  • @PowerRedBull Philip Glass

  • ur a great tutor!! ^^

  • For the section starting at 2:58 the left hand is missing some chords and on the second play-through of that section (starting at 3:17) is supposed to have some have some different notes than the first time through. There's sheet music you can find on the internet that has all the exact notes.

  • What is this? PIANO HERO????

  • @JamesCmuse

Im only kidding, just reminds me of guitar hero just for piano :P

must rather a tutorial! new to piano, me:)

  • lol i kno rite

  • Thanks so much! Learning to play this with this video now, this is great :)

  • could you send me a link I want ^_^

  • I love all of your syhth -y thingys!

    Muse forever :D

    Than you by the way.

  • i think there is something wrong - 0:51 - should be a c# 2 times followed by d# instead of just d#

maybe i am wrong but the d# sounds too high for me really - and when you listen the top note (c) goes up 2 times before it goes down to d (c->c# -> d# -> d)

    greetings!

  • Thanks so much for this. I've been having trouble figuring out the verse and outro. This helps a whole lot. :D

  • Thanks. Unfortunately, I have no way of changing it. :P And the bass is optional, that's why it's colored differently.

  • I like it. All you need to know is the fingering - I'd say it's a great tutorial.

  • Thats really cool and all but theres no way most people can learn from this.

Its a great cover but its not a tutorial.

  • It's not a cover since it's just a midi file being played back through Synthesia. Some people can learn from these and some cannot. Simply because some can't is not going to prevent me from uploading a video for those who can. I learned the song this way myself.

  • It's only because the sustain effect is making this look confusing, since the notes are held until the same note is pressed again. If it didn't have the sustain effect it would be really easy to learn from

  • Precisely. And if you use sustain anyway then learning the song is really no problem at all. People are just fooled by the length of notes displayed.

  • @Xalmr

I hardly play piano and have no music theory knowledge..and for people like me, these things are very helpful if i want to learn the chords (i dont care much abotu how its played, the chords make it magic) just for the knowledge of it..so if i compose a progression, i kind of know the tricks muse uses to make their music sound so interesting and fresh , instead of boring and mostly predictaible like most other rock/pop music ....

  • @Xalmr Where did you get the midi file??

  • @Xalmr Heyy please can you help me ? at 1:26 how can you play 5 notes with the left hand ? or maybe your finger hit it accidentlyy ?

  • @GINGRASSMAN Honestly, you can learn how to play a song from just a cover if the camera shows all the notes. Just pause it when you can see the chords and it's just as easy as a tutorial as long as you don't mind pausing and playing and going over it a few times. I find it easier to learn a song through this kind of thing than someone telling me the notes and using a weird fingering.

  • compro tercer brazo pago bien.

    O_o

la parte del solo esta mal.

  • nice i was wondering what happened to that other melody in the other tutorial.. cool cool

  • you need like three hands to be able to play this.

Fuck that means i have to grow a third one.

  • @ryudodeviln48 no you dont the orange is what the bass plays your not supposed to play that one

  • @ryudodeviln48 jajajaja you right!!!:P

  • @ryudodeviln48 Not necessarily. I learned this not to long ago. All you need is a sustain pedal and a quick pinky to hit the orange notes in the lower octave haha lol.

  • Wow great timing. I was just looking for this. Crazy! Thank you.
