The main point here isn't the viewer judgement of this issue; it is in fact the humiliating cynical tone in Oprah's tackling of the topic as if she wanted to say: look at those weird body-obsessed people. And she brought those kids who failed to explain the roots of this attitude; but, contrarily contributed in that whole misrepresentation.
I bet you this Amal doesnt give a crap about our culture and probably she doesnt even live there, but the problem is that we are not patriotic and especially our women, so I think its sad to see this lady say such a thing, and by the way she claims that she needs to lose wieght because she things she is fat. the question is why would you wana lose wieght is we love fat women? Amal, you are a hypocrit and dont deserve to be Mauritanian.
@mauritanianm I'm agree with you , she talks about our culture in a negative way and then other people are asking " Does really mauritanians like fat women "
That's the kind of weird question because of her .
I was so mad and angry when I saw this video, because the guy who they had on the show, cant consider himself to know anything about Mauritania because he hasnt been there for the last 15 years so how can he know anything about it, second I e-mailed Oprah because I think Amal should be ashamed of herself for lying about the Mauritanian cultur so she could be on TV.
He is exaclty right: "Women are expected to be fat, while men should be skinny" That is how we, Mauritanians, perceive beauty. Now, with the contaminated wind of globalization(baby doll), we r going 2 lose this traditional value. It's very important to notice that "fat women" in Mauritania do not eat "fast food" like do women in US. This is a big difference that needs to be addressed. Oprah, we can't wait 2 C you in Nouakchott. We love U and appreciate your good work for girls in South Africa.
That wasnt the most exciting part, please upload the whole episode, they did a great job to show how amazing is Mauritania but I dont agree with the guy; the man not expected to be overweight but neither a skinny(Swi9i6o), the best shape is to be tall and strong.

these people don't know anything about Mauritania's culture they're just pretending to know it so they can be on Oprah's show.
I'm really sad for Mauritania because it's represented by these people and thanks for the video chebabmr2010.
