  • Nice Symbolic poster.

  • death symbolic flag behind him!! jeeeehhaaa!!

  • I actually go to Berklee right now and Steve is my private instructor haha

  • fuck year! wonder how many times he's head it to play it... \m/

  • so fast!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can't believe they kicked Steve out. The new guy sucks (and I wish I could find out first hand but they don't feel like doing shows outside of Canada). *sigh* Well, let's hope the new album is good.

  • @TheBloodRedX

The new guy doesn't suck! Have you heard their teaser?

  • @VerisonMember Notice my comment was from 8 months ago. That comment was made way before any material of him in Into Eternity was in existence. I was basing his skill based on the crappy band he was in before. I was most certainly proven wrong, and I am glad that I was because Into Eternity is in my top favorite bands.

  • he's also not using axis pedals. Way to bite the hand that feeds you steve.

  • this is master i like the drums it's fantastic

  • fucking awesome drummer and I LOVE the Symbolic banner in the background

  • Love it

  • hes my drum teacher

  • woot he teaches at my school :D

  • Shame he left the band :( I loved his drumming

  • Is it just me or does Steve have rather short arms?

  • Jesus is coming soon! repent and prepare for the lord

  • @bass109

    get a life.

  • @bass109 Right, Jesus come just because the singer scream and the music is very agresive? read the lyrics before you talk, just because the singer screams that doesn't mean this is satanic, don't be a ignorant. This is real music, very complicated to play, just a real virtuoso can plat that.

  • Who cares how he hits the drums. The music still is solid and he has a good technique

  • Am I the only one who can pretty much hear only the bass drums in this?

  • wow. that was great

  • I might be able to jam with him and the guitarist of Aborted and System Divide soon :)

  • hes a great drummer.....but needs to hit the fucking things rather than tap them! Dont worry they wont break.. at least not right away...

  • Comment removed

  • it seems like at ~1:49 he could hit the snare easier if he started on the other hand....maybe i'm missing something, but to me, it seems he could do that easier. regardless, very nice drumming. i enjoyed this video very much so.

  • wow, incredible, and you let look like it would be easy <3

  • looks like he's trying to hard performing his own songs, look up necrophagist drummer... the dude doesn't even try

  • @DivinityOfDoom try George Kollias

  • @DivinityOfDoom ive seen him live, he can jam...

  • thumbs up for the symbolic poster!

  • Wow, great job... This is the first time I've heard this song but it looks very fun/challencing to play. And "lol" with the million camera angles, they're helpful though. I really like the play on the ride throughout the whole song :D

  • hehe a dude named after a pastasause ;)

  • @TheSavageMessiah After a city, actually.

  • @TheSavageMessiah haha its spelt bolognaise, but close enough XD

  • @TheSavageMessiah His last name (probably) means his family came from Bologna, Italy.

  • @TheSavageMessiah actually he's named after a town in Italy called Bologna. Bolognese means from Bologna.

  • Can''t hear the cymbals. >:O

  • they arent using the sound of his drums, they are just using the album drum track

  • @45pantera audio over video

  • Now that think about it (I just watched this video again) it looks like he's using a practice kit with his cymbals that he uses live. I notice he has that one and a 6 piece drum set that he uses live.

  • hel yea thts wat im talkin about

  • omg, Quagmire head movement! xD

  • @vecseymate haha you're right

  • You do not necessarily need to hit a drum hard to get a sound. Just a tap of the drum alone will give it a sound. It's never a good idea to hit your drums hard away since you risk breaking your stick, your drum head, your cymbals (depending on the condition they are in), and you risk hurting yourself in the long run.

  • @DamenDrummerBarbee

First of all, if you use the word "never" you are wrong. Secondly, what you seem be missing is that he used triggers to record this, because hitting as light as he does simply does not make this sound. Hitting hard is just as important as hitting lightly, its called dynamics.

  • You are never wrong if you've gone through the the experience. His drums are equipped with mics, not triggers. The sound of his drums are enhanced by studio editing and most studio editing and enhancements include sound selection. I have recording experience so I know this for a fact. I do know however that there were triggers used in their album "The Scattering of Ashes", but then again that was a different drummer.

  • you break stick cymbals and heads if you have a bad technique, and it is triggered, notice no mics on the toms, they are triggered from the bottom head, same with the snare

  • wow he really doesnt hit hard at all XD

  • When he is just hitting his hi-hat he looks like a midget...

  • Nice what are some good door exersizes :)

  • he looks funny when he hits the cymbals he is like rolling his wrist, i dont know if thats a drummer thing but i never learned that in drum line

  • @bdragon99

Drum line teaches you how to play with your arms, due to the fact its drum line and your hitting a snare only, sometimes even toms, but on a snare, practice using your hands and not moving your arms, you play faster and more precise. Basically your moving your wrist only

  • powerfull and technical stuff !

    i dig it !

  • me encanta esta banda y como suena la bateria...pero nunca habia visto al baterista y me sorprende ver que toca sin saber agarrar bien los palillos! es muy loco!

  • There from Canada

  • lol, stupid asshole i dont usying translator.

(idiote ja nepoužívám překladač) a národnosti jsem Čech tak tady nebreč píčoviny :-*

  • He's my favorite metal drummer, this guy can play anything, I seen him live warming up. He was playing a lot of funky jazz licks...awesome!!!!! I.E. is the best metal band ever!!!!

  • this guy isn't autistis, he's a genius

  • Get of his ass mr.xoxman

He has just as much of a right to comment on this vid just as much as u do

Actaully even more cause they arnt even an American band and probably speak French

    Ur dumb bro

  • They're from very much the English-speaking bit of Canada.

  • actually they're from Regina Saskatchewan... not many frenchies out this way. but thank you for being so informative.

  • Víš so ty teplouši? Radši drž hubu a nemachruj tady na mě že seš z Ameriky, buzíííčku. Now translate it, u idiot ;-)

  • Wow you can type some random shit into a translator and then cut and paste. GOOD JOB! 10 gold stars for you!

  • and one problem, i haven´t sister.

  • Once again the gibberish. We speaky the english... I suggest you learn... fucking fob

  • Its awsome. I trying tis song everyday. Is hard on legs guys. but Past Beyond Memory is easy. This song is hardener. Did some1 play this song? And Steve is good dummer

  • your a piece of shit who cannot even type a coherent comment...................................... IM GOING TO RUN TRAIN ON YOUR GIRLFRIEND and your sister and mother

  • @XOXkmanXOX yes yes, u shut up and dont speak to me... u sucker, i have ask u on nothing. And shut up about my family, u dogfucker

  • lol. You're a bit of a dildo aint ya?

  • Meh, I try

  • I love this band, great stuff!!!!

  • what IS up with his right wrist!!? it's like watching marty friedman on drums

  • so? he can fkn play! i've seen him live and he is an amazing drummer. lol friedman on drums haha

  • Steve Bologna has an awesome name

  • its a sabian hand hammered series.

  • anybody know what ride is that?

  • makes that shit look effortless.....damn

  • its not that difficult. he is a real good drummer. but this SONG is not that difficult to play

  • muy bueno

  • Plays his chosen music style very well...just hope he doesn't develop CTS or something equally nasty as he gets older, would be a shame theres a lot to offer here.

  • goddamn crazy beast!!

  • dude rips

  • the thing on his back... is SYMBOLIC

    :D

  • when he's blasting around 1:28 his wrists don't look as stiff as the rest of the vid.

and at about 2:14 or wherever over-top view is, he uses his wrists pretty well.

  • very cool drumming

but not nice to look at somehow ^^

  • strange that they've made a drum video with the drums turned DOWN in the mix. i suppose the drums are to be seen not heard

  • i met this guy at a Dream Theater show. he was handing out Into Eternity flyers. my friends and i thought he was some crazy dude, but he is legit. and a fucking amazing drummer!

    INTO ETERNITY ROCKS!

  • The hand technique of this man is weird but he play awesome!! O_O

Sorry for my english im from venezuela :)

  • anyone else notice how stiff his snare hand looks? whatever he does it works very well, but he looks like he's moving his entire arm from shoulder to wrist to play the snare at times

  • dang he's kicking the crap out of that bass drum lol =D

  • so....compli....cated.....good stuff ie rules

  • I love this drummer, but he looks like he has downs syndrome.

  • lol, hell yeah he does

  • i completely agree. epic downs.

  • You can't medicate downs that severe. It's uh... Timeless...

  • i perfer this guy to their old drumer, yes their old drummer was a lot faster with da double bass, but this guy is just better, and hes got a wierd but awsome way of playing drums, hes is one of, if not #1 of my favourite drummers.

  • damn his ride technique is insane!

  • Man...that guy gets some serious thunder out of a relatively small kit!

  • 1:20, you hold your drumsticks in a very weird way..

  • no.. thats anoter typical type of "stick-holding"^^

  • No its not. There is technically no grip like that. The guy does have a very strange technique. Im not a big fan of his drumming. I respect it though.

  • yeah, i thought so too.

it looks like he's only using his index and thumb to hold the stick.

  • That's how you are supposed to hold your sticks. You use your other fingers for bounce. The key to smooth technique is in the fingers not the arms or wrists. He is very good at this.

  • oh, yeah. but at 1:20 he hit the cymbals in a strange way.

  • Are you blind? His left arm is stiff as fuck - his wrists don't even move a little bit. As for his right hand, well, that's another disaster that would take too long for me to describe. Yeah, this guy's pretty good, but you can tell he's self-taught and no one ever taught him proper matched grip.

  • ya dude it looks like his wrist is fuzed together or something

  • A man can drum whichever way he is good at it. Fuck Proper hand technique, I am self taught I don't have a proper matched grip, I'm still kick ass.

  • OH DAYUM. I TOTALLY BELIEVE YOU, DUDE.

    lollll.

Okay, whatever you say. 15-20 years down the line (assuming you haven't already played that long) when you develop severe carpal tunnel syndrome and/or develop arthritis in your wrists, I'm sure you'll look back and wish you would've developed proper technique.

Drumming is destructive to your wrists, hands, and fingers. Over time improper technique can lead to severe injury. But you already knew that I'll bet. You know everything, don't you... :)

  • Way to contradict yourself you fucking quito.

Either way drumming is going to be destructive to your wrists in some way or another.

  • Not fucking true, sherlock. The idea is to maximize technique for not only comfort, but to stifle any sort of injury whatsoever. Do you think a seasoned drummer like, let's say, Steve Gadd has any problems dealing with muscle pain due to his decades of drumming? Doubtful, otherwise he would've quit by now.

gtfo. You have no idea what you're talking about. Drumming (DONE PROPERLY) can actually strengthen your legs, forearms, and wrists. It's when you drum like this that it's destructive. Faggot.

  • Well if he IS self taught he's done a pretty damn good job. I'm not knocking your opinion but like you said, he's pretty good.

  • It is weird and it is hard to get down, but as soon as you do get it so many things open up. It's sweet.

  • cool.

do you play like he does?

  • I Love This Band!! Ever Since I Heard Them For The First Time... The First Song I Heard Was Severe Emotional Distress... They Just Keep Getting Better And Better!!!

  • Got to jam with Steve, the guy is awesome, played some improv and Death tunes haha.

  • i dont like the time changes in this song...

  • But if you learned how to play them, i'll bet you would love the time changes in this song. i'm learnin right now and it's a bitch, but worth it.

  • dude...dude...into eternity is the only band i refuse to cover on the drums...i just cant follow it

  • Check out Mike Johnston or drumteacher76, if you already don't know who he is. He covers the most complex fills and riffs and explains them and shows you how master everything in a way that anyone can follow.

  • can you follow protest the hero stuff and dream theater stuff?

  • The timing in their song is at least as hard as DT's, and faster, that's why Dream Theater is Hard to play, and Into Eternity a Nightmare :)

  • there guitars are definetely influenced by rush in my opinion

  • Sorry to inform, but if you cant follow this, then theres like a million bands outthere that you will take long to follow.

  • i dont doubt that at all. im just making a point that i am a decent drummer yet i have problems with this band. there are way better and that i would have even more problems with

  • Ok, i get your point now, sorry. Practice is the key. Cheers.

  • its cuz theyre amazing :P

  • i agree =D

  • Fuck'n Great'n...

    it's cool ...

  • AWESOME!!

  • their previous jim austin was better...

  • Well it depends, Jim was playing faster beats, he's playing a little slower beats but way more original and progressive.

  • true like the beat at 1:50 most drummers just cant play it in such a song

  • In most cases there is no need in that. you can always play double stroke by one hand thus keeping another free to do whatever you want.

Overall I didn't like his style. Looks like newbie, sorry,

  • Jim had faster blast beats, but Steve has more technique, and I personally think that blast beats doesn't show your creativity in drumming.

  • I agree, Scattering Of Ashes was amazing on the drums. Surrounded By Night FTW!

  • eh.....hes not bad but his technique is kinda bad

  • i liked jim austins base drum alot better, it sounded better, and he did sick base rolls, but this guys pretty good too, hes great with his hands ( not in a perverted way). i would like to see jim on their new album i think it fits him more

  • Into Eternity should do a cover for PainKiller.

  • so hes bald in this video that was posted in 08 and in the newest music video posted in 09 he has extreamly long hair?

  • the vid was just posted then.. it could have been an old song recorded a while ago... but i know into eternity and this is the first time iv heard this song so you may have a point

  • this isn't into eternity's drummer this is a drum cover

  • why would century media post it then?

  • nevermind i was mistaken. i thot i seen this dude cover other songs b4

my bad. i just like the music. don't know their names

  • No but to clearify things, this guy, Steve Bolognese is Into Eternity's drummer, he was filmed while recording this song in studios and the drummer with long hair you see in the previous videos is they're previous drummer Jim Austin.

  • wow...you know its really about the Look of how someone plays...Last time i checked its about the Overall sound...and hes an amazing drummer get over your jelously...because if you could do that without Looking "silly" HE WROTE IT YOU TOOLS...

  • Im not denying hes a great drummer, im just saying he looks funny when he plays.

  • Why does he look handicapped when he plays? his arms/hands are look awkward as hell...like he has down syndrome or some shit, its kinda funny.

  • the double bassing in this song... does it require ankle or leg motion?

  • It's Neither, It's a revolutionary technique that I discovered and only I can play. I call it " The Peppermill" ....... Dig?

  • ya dig

  • its called "twitching" it uses leg motion, its just bringing up your heels, its what i use, its just about the same as heels up.

  • Twitching is very bad for your muscles, you do know?

  • really? well, i seem to do it lots. what is your style?

  • I use swivel/ankle. Be VERY relaxed.

  • well, my pedals are complete garbage. So i must use twitching. I don't understand how people can play with shoes on, i find it VERY uncomfortable.

  • Drummerthatismetal say it George Kollias

  • thats a sick textile poster behind him. Symbolic is my fav. Death album.

  • I agree, I'm sorry for the fans of Steve, but while he is drumming this song he looks really silly.. Yet when they play live in Regina every month he's really wild and flayly.

  • great drummer but jim is WAY better sorry guys

  • You sure know what you're talking about man.

  • don't know why but i have alway's found this form of drumming a little boring. technical yes but alway's seems to lack feel, sound and passion. but still great technique

  • yeah. its like a history going on and on. like the same drabble, goin on and on. its lacking feeling, ur right

  • I dont like it much either, but i think it can be the lack of good drum sound mastering/equalization.

  • definitely one of the better bands out there

  • DUDE I know this guy personally!! He's best friends with my uncle. He's from Waltham, Mass. And he 1st knew Into Eternity's 1st two albums down pact. One of the best drummers out there.

  • i met this guy back in a gig in my hometown

he's a damn good drummer, he overfills

jim austin's place, also he's a great guy

after playing he sat down with me and a friend

    to talk

  • he lookslikes hes havin fun haha, good stuff

  • i mean great job^^

  • fucking amizing freat job

  • i think his technique is great, and for this purpose you have to hit it softly if you're RECORDING, you try to be a cowboy 1. you're gonna pop the microphone with the cymbals and 2. if you've ever recorded professionally you don't wanna wear yourself out, you sometimes have to change it up a bit if you're recording. awesome video

  • I double that. cheers

  • dobra robota:D!
