I managed to visit morecambe prom box to get some photos on an early sunday evening in december 1993,the signalman on duty was an elderly guy with a full head of white hair,(i didnt get his name)but he made me very welcome.
He had the radio on & was listening to a sunday program on BBC Radio 2 called "sing something simple".(its funny what you remember).
A lot of the track,P&C & station area was clipped up out of use pending removal.
Even in its twilight moments morecambe prom box was special
Hi all - you're more than welcome to check out the Wikipedia article I created about the station. Just type Morecambe Promenade railway station into Wikipedia / Google. Feel free to add any info I've missed out!
Thanks for posting this! My uncle was a signalman based in Morecambe and when I was a lad I used to visit him at Heysham Harbour, Hest Bank and here at Prom Station. I don't know who enjoyed it more. He got to take it easy and I got to work the signals, points and telegraph (under supervision of course). The Main Crossover Frame at Prom was a bugger to shift! Thanks for reigniting some happy memories.
Wow! That really did send the happy memories all flooding back! :)
Catching the Sprinter from Lancaster every weekend was such a joy. And what did they replace the Promenade with? A glorified bus shelter!
I miss that station, and if I had my way it would rebuild the platforms and track with my bare hands. I couldn't care less about the car park in between, it's the roads we should be cutting back, not the railways!
cheers for a great but sad upload.all the area we see now is crappy burger king and morrisons /i had great memorys leaving that station on bashing moves.
Great but very sad video. I only ever went to Morecambe Prom Station on the way to Lancaster from the Manx Ferry.

@enochsneed I'm officially jealous. To think that the points leaver is little more than a raised box at the other end of Euston Road bridge now...

What a shame. At least the last train was something more substantial than a 153. Quite sad to see the box lights flashing like that.

No bother! Do you know, I was five at the time! Five! And even I miss that station.
My grandparents lived over at Westgate so my mum would always take me to see em. You never know, I may have been on that 153.
Wheelchairs were a bugger to get on/off em though!
