Love the combo of Mike/Carl and Dennis? Brian's voice was so bad during this period it must have been really tough for BB Fans when he went from having the most amazing voice to this :(
@mattjackleroy yes u got that right.. i started listening 2 them last year now i'm a fanatic..it's weird cuz i like most of their album cuts instead of the surfing stuff.
@NEWGUY562 Great group. Their concerts back in the early 1970s and thereafter were magic, loads of fun. Brian was somewhat messed up for a number of years but has made a nice comeback. I miss Carl though. To me, he was always the heart and soul of the group live. Listen to the harmonies on cuts like 'Til I Die. Impeccable. Trivia : do you know who Carl Wilson's father in law was ?
@mattjackleroy wow i can tell ur into them as much as i am well maybe more cuz u were around when there blew up and when brian started having problems. i wish i went 2 a concert with all of the member including bruce...hmmmmm (blank) who?..u should check out a song by dennis called "you and i".
Any Beach Boys album made between 1962 to 1980 was amazing. Surfs Up,Sunflower, So Tough, Holland, 15 Big Ones, and Love You were all classic albums from the 1970s. And lets not forget about Dennis Wilson's hauntingly beautiful Pacific Ocean Blue. Remember The Beatles in the 1970s? Exactly.
This album was fav and so were all their '70's stuff. I loved it all and still do. Denis Wilson's POB was astonishing too and still is. Look guys, let's get aligned here, the Beach Boys were amazing. Hang in there... Love from Ireland. :)
Pacific Ocean Blue album blows the hinges off of most of the 70s BB releases. that said. I thoroughly enjoy several of the songs on the 15 Big Ones album. Just Once In My Life, In The Still of the Night, That Same Song were standouts for me. but hey what do I know? I have only been listening to them since I was 6 when my mom bought the 45 single I Can Hear Music.
@denniswilsonfan how can you say that pacific ocean blue sounds like it was influenced by the charles manson school of songwriting I have a copy its worth $300
You might think I'm crazy, but I actually thought 15 Big ones was a damn fine album....And I TOTALLY disagree with all the praise that has always surrounded their next album, Love You...Most of that one contains GARBAGE as far as I'm concerned. And Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue TOTALLY blows the hinges off the Love You album.
I think by and large, 15 big ones was a dud, but this one has always been a favorite and worthy of the BB's legacy......great song, all sunny and melodic.

Lovely, under-rated song. I should have seen the 'Brian on the phone' shot coming, still made me laugh all the same!

Sounds a lot like their mid/late sixties stuff and I like the lead vocals being shared by the guys.

Brian's voice was already destroyed..shame.

I'll comment "temporarily destroyed" as a matter of opinion.
