@EZ3Xicano I think it's largely due to the fact they aren't being taught about their actual culture. We're being taught in parents/school/tv/etc that we are "latino/hispanic" I am proud of my Native American background but had to do the research and learning on my own. I hope to one day be able to read and speak Nahuatl...
While trading with the Mayan people to the south in present-day Mexico, Acoma acquired precious stones, sacred parrots and sea shells. Today, Acoma have the Parrot Clan.
Acoma Pueblo claims to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in the United States (since 1100 AD). Located in the high desert of central New Mexico.
Acoma is also known as "Sky City" because it sits atop a 357-foot sandstone mesa.
Aztecs (mexica) are not Central American, North America extent just below the area of Mexico City, and therefore, Mexico is considered part of North America. Culturally speaking, Meso America is the area of Mexico AND Central America, which is the cradle to the cultures of the Mayan, Toltec, Olmec, Aztec, etc.
The reason for Aztecs to be dancing at powwows is b/c we are native, borders were set, but they do not define who is native or not.
@raulthebullfighter bou fukin time someone else besides myselfs understands this, lmfao why do yu think native americans and mexicans get so confused with each other, we are all related. because of what spanish and britain decided was borders doesnt seperate the fact that we are the same. if yu look at orgin stories yu will so many even stating that a clan broke off from the original 5 and went south into wat is arizona, new mexico and texas then continued to mexico.
The Occaneechi wore a serpant on their right shoulder. this is found with the inca and aztec also. The feather serpant is found among the Iroquis of virginia and North Carolina as well. The serpant actually represents god being on earth. The serpant being the earth creature...and the feather representing heaven. This is where the prayer feathers idea comes from as well. Pray withthe feather and the feather carries your prayer to heaven.
@gabitytung the term "indian" is not one particular tribe. The term "indian" was wrongly imposed on ALL PEOPLE NATIVE TO AMERICA, and by America I am not referring to the U.S. I am referring to all of America. You are correct different people different tribes, but we are still all Natives..
i heard that the hopi and especially the hopi indians of arizona are related to the aztec because they come from the same language family all the native americans are all related even if they are far off south its like white people are related to white people from euroupe am french and mehika indian
Actually near where this video was taken...the Saponi and Tutelo (which there is currently a park called tutelo park in New york) was stayed...the Saponi and Tutelo had a culture much like the Aztecs and Incas. The sound you are hearing...that is the tradtional sound of the Virginia indian tribes, however that sound for some reason was replaced with the many people using one drum stick style.
After the spainish attacked the aztec and inca..they headed to the caribean where they probally picked up taino people (which is also found in new york today). the spainish then went to florida and then hit the Saponi and manahoac lands. Inca and Aztec people was probally brought with the spainish and had escaped to the virginia tribes. If the virginia traditional ways was still alive today then you would see how much alike they was to the inca and aztec.
great video...i dont like when people refer to my people as american indians, call us the nican tlaca of the anahuac or mexica, we do not come from india, but great video
I agree with "HonestyisKey" about that. Native exist north and south of the colonial borders. American Indians are basically all the natives that were on the americas b4 and after the europeans settled. So Mohawk, Aztecs, Mayans etc are all american indians.
not to sure about calling the Aztecs Central Americans. I believe their technical location would be Mesoamerican. I might be wrong tho. I can't remember. However, one thing I do know is that the Aztecs are part of the Uto-Aztecan group of which many native americans and most mexican natives belong to.
Aztecs are aboriginal to Aztlan, which according to the latest scholastic research is in the state of Utah. I suppose thats why Mexicans and the Ute's are relatives.
a lot of different north and south american indian groups are represented at these things. not to far from this dancing there was a peruvian band playing, as well as plains indians and even tribes from long island selling art.
@centerrightpunk Yes, they are for American Indians ( I prefer the term Native American). The Aztec people and their "descendants/ancestors" came from what today is known as Mexico. Mexico along with Canada, Brazil and even the U.S. all are part of America and I am assuming that is the reason they are there.
Thaks for bringing that to my attention bud.

America stretches from Canada down to Argentina. There are natives in all this land, it's not exclusive to the U.S.A.
